Katalina was having a bit better morning than she had yesterday. No tears this morning, in fact she didn't cry much last night. Probably cause my eyes have none left! she giggled slightly to herself. She had come up here this morning to send an owl to Caysi's brother, Mark. Maybe this would finally help her move on and forget about Mak...Ma...him. Kat grabbed the note from her pocket and read it over once more.

Hullo Mark!

So your sister has been scheming it appears and has convinced me to write you a note.  She actually let me read the last one that you sent (please don't sock her in the nose...it would be really bad) and I admittedly blushed and was very much so flattered.  I just thought that I would let you know that i'll be at Kiera Kingsley's house some this summer so i'm hoping to get to meet you.  Caysi has already told me a bit about you so if you have anything that you want to know about me (that your sister hasn't already spilled) then just let me know.  If not then I look forward to meeting you in a few weeks.

Mark was at his dorm reading while Cam was sleeping, it was night over there and he was reading a book about pranks. He was about to pull a prank on Cam, when a letter came.

Hey there,
Caysi is going to get herself into some hot water one these days. My sister loves to plan things out, that's what I guess you can call her annoying habit.  I'm glad you like the letter, it was all true. I know that your going to be there, I make my sister's habits come to my advantages. Well there really isn't anything that she probably didn't say. So please tell me about your- self. Like everything I need to know and please don't skip a detail.

~Later that Day~​

Katalina was reading a book when Lavender appeared beside her holding a note in her beak. There was any number of people that it could be from seeing as how she'd sent what felt like a million messages out over the last 2 days. She took the note from her owl, exchanging it for a treat, and opened it. It was from Mark. Kat felt her lips curl up just a little bit into a small smile as she read it through. She pulled a piece of parchment and pen from her bag and began to write a response.

Hey Mark!

Well i'm not sure what information is considered need-to-know, but here goes!
~I have one sister (Serena)
~Both of my parents work for the NZ ministry
~I have blue eyes (which you apparently already know)
~My favorite color is pink
~My favorite flowers are tulips and daisies
~I absolutely love pizza (I think it's my favorite food)
~I have a really big sweet tooth
~My family and friends mean the world to me~

Not sure what of that you needed (or wanted) to know, but that's all I got.  If I left anything out that you want to know just tell me!!  I'm looking forward to summer break at Kiera's!

Kat gave the note to Lavender and sent the owl on its way. She pulled her book back out and continued to read, a smile spread across her face.

Mark was sitting doing some Herbology, Cam was sitting on his bed reading some books. Mark looked out the window and saw a bird. Not his bird, " Cam are you waiting for a letter from your lover?" , Cam shook his head. Maybe it's from Caysi, or Kat. Sure enough it was from Kat.

Hey Kat!
Well, I guess that my sister has given you a guideline and some tips and probably a notebook. She's very interesting. So how's school going? How are you? How's my devilish sister doing? Probably reeking up havoc and dying everyone's hair green and other colors. Would you like a photo of me? Well here it is, I would love a photo from you. Also, if you could please ask my sister to give you a photo of herself to give to Cam, so he can shut his mouth and look at the picture?

~Later That Same Evening~​

Kat had recieved another letter from Mark and had written yet another response to him, as well as another response to her mother. She ran down to the owlery at dusk so that she could quickly send both letters at once.

Hey Mark!

Yeah I will definitely tell Caysi to send a picture for Cam.  She seems to be quite smitten with him (it's kind of cute).  I'm doing okay...a little anxious to get to see my mum before I head to Kiera's for a few weeks.  School's going great, though i'm ready for exams to be over with.  I don't think that my poor brain can hold anymore information.  Thanks for the picture!  You're really cute!  I'm sending one along with this as you requested.  How are things your way?  Anything fun or exciting going on in your part of the world?  I have to run for right now, but I look forward to hearing from you again!

I got your last letter and I agree with everything completely.  I will also let you know what day we can meet to shop and then discuss all the details of me going to Kiera's for the summer!  I miss you very much and tell daddy and Rena that I miss them and love them too!

Kat secured the letters to Lavender's leg, gave her a treat and then sent her on her way. She then turned and headed back up to the castle before it got dark outside.

Mark was wandering outside with his bag full of pranks. He wondered why his sister was so in love with Cam. He shrugged it off once the owl came, it was familiar so it must have been from Kat.

Hey Kat.
Yeah, she's quite smitten I'd say, can't get her out of this one. I'm not that cute, your pretty cute yourself. Things are alright here too, exams are soon here as well. But I'm spending time pranking and chilling with Cam. Over here there really is nothing, other than Cam snoring at night, I ought to tell you..that scares me. I hope all's well there. Can't wait to see you, if you have any more questions ( which I don't think you have because my sister probably has covered that with you too) just ask.

~The Next Morning~​

Katalina awoke to a gentle tapping noise on her window. She opened it to find that it was Lavender and with her she had a note from Mark. Kat smiled as she gave her owl a treat and then opened the note to read it. Her bird had been working double overtime lately with all the letters that Katalina had been sending so she'd let her rest before having her send anymore notes to her new found friend.

~Two Days Later~​

Katalina walked up to the owlery with a note fro Mark. She'd meant to send it earlier, but since Lily had borrowed Lavender for Blake to use she hadn't had access to an owl. Even today she'd have to use a school owl, but she didn't want Mark to think that she'd forgotten about him. She read over the letter one more time:

Hiya Mark!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your last letter, but I've had to let a friend borrow my owl.  Things are great here, but i'm ready for a bit of a break from school.  I told your sister to send Cam a picture and she said she'd get right on it.  Silly girl...I think she's caught a serious case of puppy love!  Yeah Caysi has pretty much given me a plethora of information about you, but i'm sure that we will still have plenty to talk about while we are at Kiera's.  I can't wait to see you in a few weeks.  I'm definitely looking forward to it!  Hope things are going well for you and I hope to hear from you soon!

As soon as she had looked over the letter once again Kat secured the letter to the leg of one of the brown school owls and sent it on its way.

Mark woke up to the sound of pecking at the window, " What in Merlin's pants is that?!?!" He yelled. He went over to the window and opened the letter and saw that it was from Kat. He read it over twice and put it on his dresser and sat on his bed smiling.

~A Few Days Later~​

Kat slowly made her way to the owlery. The last few days had been extremely confusing for her as well as slightly emotionally draining. Since Makato had come back she'd had way too much to think about and that bothered her, but the one bright spot was that she could talk to Mark whenever she wanted to. For some reason things with him weren't complicated, but that could all very easily change...and most likely would. She attached the short note to the borrowed owl and sent it on its way.

Hey Mark!

Haven't heard from you in a couple of days and just wanted to see how things were going with you!  Hope everything is great and I can't wait to see you!

Mark just came back from a serious prank from a teacher. He ran into his room and locked the door, he hoped that Cam didn't come back for a while because he couldn't get it.

Sorry I didn't write before this..I've been really busy. I can't wait to see you either! How are things over there? You and my sister behaving? Well, I shouldn't really ask because my sister is such a good girl. Well anything else that's new over there?

Mark sent the letter to Kat and looked at the bird fly out the window.

Kat woke to a tapping sound on her window. Knowing what it was her face lit up slightly as she took the note from the bird and gave it a treat. "Lumos." she said so that she could read the letter from Mark. Kat turned the piece of parchment over and scrawled her own letter on it.

Hey Mark!

Completely understand about being busy.  Things here are going okay.  I'm staying out of trouble, but I can't make any guarantees about your sister or Kiera.  Are you staying out of trouble?  Not much new over here.  Hope to hear from you soon!

She knew that she had pretty much lied through her teeth, but there was no sense in telling him about all the drama that had happened as of late. Kat attached the note to the owl's leg, gave it another treat and sent it on its way.

Mark was just sitting on his bed and relaxing. He heard the owl tap at the window. He opened it and said " Accio letter!" The letter came to him and he read it and replied.

Hey Kat!
It's quite busy over here, before exams..it's really hectic. Well, I'm not sure that I believe that you guys are staying out of trouble! Umm, let's just say that I'm having fun over here.

He gave the bird the letter and it was on it's way.

~The Next Afternoon~​

Kat was sitting the in the common room revising for exams when a brown owl flew in through the open window and landed on the stack of papers in front of her. "Oh crud! For the love of Merlin you stupid bird....look at what you did!" she yelled looking at the papers that were now strewn all over the place. Great! Now i'm talking to animals....I really am going wonkie aren't I? she thought harshly to herself. Kat grabbed the note from the owl and then gave it a treat, though she was still bitter about the mess it had just created. Her blue eyes lit up when she saw it was from Mark, but then she felt a twinge of guilt. Was it possible to like two people at the same time? She hadn't ever thought it would be, but with everything that had happened over the last week she wasn't so sure anymore. Kat took a break and replied to the letter.

Hiya Mark!!

I understand how you feel with exams and all that good junk!  Promise we've all been on our best behavior.  Cross my heart!!  So you've been having quite a bit of 'fun' then have you?  I wonder what kind of 'fun' we can get into while we are at Kiera's this summer?  I'm always up for a little bit of mischief!  Well I have to run and attempt to do some more studying.  Hope to hear from you soon!!

Kat wrote Mark's name on the front and gave the owl another treat before sending it off on yet another delivery. She watched it until it flew out of sight, smiling the whole time. I'm seriously messed up! she thought to herself with a chuckle, knowing good and well that things were only going to become more complicated as the next few months progressed. With a heavy sigh she returned to the table where she was working, cleared up the mess that the bird had made, and returned to her studys.
