Pregnancy was definitely a new and strange experience. It wasn't anything like she had expected. When she had first entertained the thought of having children she had always thought about when they were born and how she and Stefan would cope. Her thoughts had kind of forgotten the nine months before the baby's birth. She was regretting that she hadn't researched it more. It's not that she didn't find the process exciting and amazing, she was just suffering from quite a few side affects. She also didn't have a real girl friend to talk to about the whole situation. Sara was always so busy with work and she had her own problems, Kate didn't want to burden her with her own. Star was off travelling the world, it was always hard to contact her. She had her colleagues at work but a part of her wanted to keep them at a distance as she could never be fully honest with them about her life. As for her friends from Hogwarts, she had lost contact with many of them. All of this had never really bothered Kate before. She could always go to Stefan if anything worried her or she wanted to talk. But this time it was different. She knew he was just excited as she was about this baby but she didn't want him to worry. He had enough worries about the baby as it was and she didn't want him any more worried. Of course certain things like the morning sickness and tiredness she couldn't hide but she appreciated it when he went out of his way to make her life easier and to make her feel better. It was her worries about keeping the baby safe for the next five months. She was religiously following the recommended diets. She was eating all sorts of healthy food and she tried to go swimming at least once a week. She was terrified she would fall or something else would happen that could hurt the baby. She knew it was ridiculous. The chances of any of these things happening was so incredibly thin but she couldn't help herself. She was a natural worrier and at times her mind went into overtime.

This morning was particularly bad. She hadn't been able to sleep and she now lay in the bed, the sun still low in the sky. She looked over at Stefan, still fast asleep. She smiled slightly, softly caressing his face before slowly getting out of bed. She had felt uncomfortable the minute she had lay down in the bed. She had been plagued by cramps. Thankfully the bump wasn't big enough yet to impede her sleeping so she hoped the cramps were just for tonight. She needed all the sleep she could get. It was quite some time before she could the maternity leave so she had to keep working. Kate had never thought she would be this affected so early. It showed how little she knew. But from what she had read the morning sickness would more than likely stop in a week or two. That would make her feel infinitely better. Kate decided she needed some fresh air and some space. Running had always allowed her to sort through her problems. She had taken it up soon after Hogwarts. It was so much better than moping around. She had read that exercise is extremely beneficial during pregnancy. She had signed up for yoga classes and she tried to do more stretching. She hadn't been avidly into exercise and it was only because she had read it helped with tiredness that she had seriously taken it up. She couldn't afford to fall asleep teaching class and she had lots of work to do. She needed a healthy way to stay awake. So that was how she found herself dressed and stretching outside the house ,ready for a nice run. It was still very early in the morning. She had left Stefan a note on the bed, telling her where she was, in case he woke before she returned home. She knew she needed a long run so began the journey to Brightstone Village. It was the closest settlement to where she and Stefan lived. She would be able to have some breakfast and sit down in the sun for a little while. Thankfully Kate had her presents all bought for Christmas but it might be nice to walk down the streets and seeing the shops all ready for this joyful time of the year.

Over an hour and a half later, Kate slowly jogged into the village, her breathing rapid but feeling so much better. She found a bench by the seaside and sat down. She needed a small rest before she began stretching. She sometimes forgot about the added weight of the baby. It made things like running a small bit harder. She felt energized however and looked out lovingly at the sea, feeling perfectly content.
