Meera was one of the few people who loved school as well as holidays. For most kids it was one of them but luckily she got the best of both worlds. The winter holidays had begun and Meera was glad to be able to see her family once again. Her tutor had not wasted a single minute and all her training had started once again in full form. Meera knew that her tutor, Arjun would expect her to be at her best at all times and she had continued practicing even when she was at school. At home she did not have to hide while she practiced of trained and that was one reason she loved the holidays so much. She could talk in her mother tongue, eat all the Indian food she wanted and dress in Indian clothes. The princess was also looking forward to seeing Tara Sitara, her friend and family cook once again because Meera had something to tell her. Radhika and Samarjitsingh, Meera's parents had finally decided that the girl could be trusted with the family secret and Meera was given the task of revealing it to her. Meera was a very nervous about this because it was the first time anyone other than her family would know that they were royals in hiding but Meera respected and trusted her parents decision and as a Princess bravery and courage came naturally to her so she decided that it was best if Meera was alone with Tara when she was told.

A few days of the winter break had passed and Meera heard that the winter collection from the fashion week was out in stores. Meera had unfortunately missed the fashion week as she had school but the idea of not going out for shopping just because it was cold sounded ridiculous to the young princess. After much convincing, Meera finally got permission to go out for shopping. Usually Meera's mother would have easily agreed but Meera wanted to go unaccompanied and that meant without any protection. Arjun who was not only her tutor but also her guardian was more harder to convince but Meera knew that once she had buttered her mother she would take care of Arjun. Meera had made sure that Tara was off kitchen duty that day. Meera did not want Tara worrying about cooking when they were supposed to be enjoying. When Meera informed her mother that they would have lunch outside and return by evening, Radhika Gupta grew even more concerned but Meera knew she could handle herself. After putting on a dress and leggings Meera got out of her room and waited for Tara in the living room. "Don't worry mother I won't be cold" she said with a smile. Her dress was not only fashionable but it would also keep her warm. She noticed Arjun giving her looks of concern. Meera had to make sure her guardian would not follow her at a distance so even though she hated threatening him she asked whispered into his ear "Don't follow me or I'll have to tell my parents how you left me all alone in that bar and went off with a witch" . The look of shock on Arjun's face was enough to convince Meera that he would not bother her now. Meera's threat was quite the opposite of what had happened. Meera had spiked Arjun's drink with a love potion and then of course he had gone of with a witch leaving her unguarded and in the company of a handsome stranger.

Once Tara was ready, Meera took a pair of car keys and flashed her friend a wide grin. "Thought we'd have some muggle fun" Meera said to Tara ignoring the eyes of her mother and her guardian. Meera knew how to drive very well since last year. All this was necessary part of her Princess training because she could not rely on apparation, floo or portkey all the time and muggle transport was equally important. Her parents had got her a license. It was not legally made but it looked very legal to anyone who checked it. Meera knew that it was very unlikely that she would ever have to use her license for escaping enemies so she decided to put it to some good use. Leading Tara to the garage where the car was parked, Meera pressed the key and the car's gates unlocked. The lights of the garage that went on by detecting temperature changes went on revealing a white mercedes benz sports car. "What do you think of our ride?" Meera asked with a grin as she got in the drivers sit and put the key into the ignition and switched it on. Meera hoped Tara did not mind speed or racing because Meera was in a mood of driving fast and as their house was located a good thirty kilometers away from the city center Meera knew Tara would be in for a treat. Maybe while coming back Tara could drive too, if she wanted. Meera put her hands on the wheel and pushing the gas pedal directed the car out of the garage. It had started with a roar and Meera laughed enjoying the thrill. Leading the car out of the driveway, she took the car out of the gates of the boundary of the manor and onto the tarmac. "Get ready for a wild day" Meera said as she pushed the gas once again and the car began racing them away towards Paris city center at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Tara was on her school hoidays. like with her last one she hadn't gone home, but she never went home over the christmas holidays as it broke her cover story. this time she was back in france working for the guptas. she had enjoyed working with them over the summer and she was pleased they had asked her to return this break too. she had been in the house for around a week now when she had her first day off.
Meera had asked her to accompany her into town for some shopping and as she liked meera as a friend more than a boss, and because she had nothing else to do she had agreed. she headed into the lounge room which was as large as her entire house at home where meera was waiting. she was guessed in a grey tunic with leggings nothing fancy, it was actually something she had bought second hand then modified to suit her and before she had sewn some birds on the front as a bit of detail.
"muggle fun, sounds fun" she said enthusiastic s to what meera had in mind. she followed the older girl out ot the garage. and upon seeing the car she stopped. she wasnt much into cars she usually walked or caught the bus but she knew that this was a car with style, it just seemed to ooze class. "that is an amazing car" she said she had long since given up wondering how the gupters had so much and so much quality things. she just went with the flow. she took a seat in the passenger side as it looked like meera was driving, not that she would be able to. though the girl was young she just guessed it was another thing that her family did and didn't question it. as she sat, she felt like a fraud. a girl from joshimath should not be riding in a car like this, she should be on the rickety bus that served her home in the foothills of the mountains.
by now they had taken off and were flying down the road. she wasn't sure how fast they were going she didn't want to look but she knew it was faster then she had ever been in a car before. the trees were flying by but meera seemed to be in control. she held onto the seat as they went around corners. "it has certainly started wild" she said as she felt them start to slow down, they must be nearing their destination. "what do you have planned?" she asked. pretty sure meera was the kind to have a plan.

Pressing one of the switches in her car made the stereo come to life and loud music filled their ears. Meera liked French songs as well as albums in the pop genre from American and British muggle singers but above all she loved songs from Bollywood movies and that was exactly what was playing in the car at the time. It was one of the latest hits and Meera absolutely loved the tracks of the album. She sung along enjoying the fifteen minute drive to the city center. "It's my early birthday gift for when I turn eighteen" Meera said jokingly with a wink. Most people Meera met were super inquisitive and could not stop poking their head into Meera's family life but Tara was different. Despite living with them she hardly asked questions and maybe that was the very reason the Gupta's whose real family name was Patel had planned on involving the young Indian witch in their family secret. Meera slowed down the speed of her car as they came closer to the location and turned a left and directed the car into a large parking lot of a mall. This was one of the biggest malls in Paris and this part of town had all the fashion stores from different brands. Meera was excited about shopping but she feared the part after that and she tried not to think about it for now. "I can't tell you everything. Then it will be no fun" Meera said with a smirk. She would probably have pulled out her tongue but that was no princess manners so she refrained from doing it.

After parking the benz in a nice spot, Meera unlocked the doors and got out of the car. A nice breeze was blowing through the parking lot and it made Meera realize how much she missed being out. The young princess was always at school or in her secure home where everything was available thanks to all the maids. "This way" she said guiding Tara to use the easiest entrance to the ten story building that was entirely made of shops, restaurants and even had a movie theater on one of the floors. "Your graduation is coming up, isn't it?" Meera asked as they entered the mall and took the escalator up to the first floor. "Oh and did you wear that outfit you bought last time to the dance your school has? What is it called again? The ball?" Meera asked wanting Tara to give her some details about how the event had gone. Meera remembered the extremely pretty outfit that Tara had bought and had saved for the big dance. "You better have a picture of yourself wearing that" Meera threatened her friend. The outfit had an Indian touch to it but was very pretty. Meera usually had to wear dresses when it came to parties or dances at her school. On some rare occasions which were very formal she would put on a heavy saree but Indian clothing was minimal for her during school time so she envied Tara. "Did you go with a pretty boy?"Meera asked teasing her friend but also interested to know if Tara was seeing someone.

Meera was aware of the fact that Tara had to break up with her fiance as he was in love with someone else. Meera had not dated anyone so she did not have much ideas about the hurt and sorrow that came with break ups. She did have her first crush only recently when she had traveled to Bulgaria on a school trip but once she was back to reality in France she realized that anything between herself and Lake would have been impossible. The boy was a werewolf and even though Meera did not have anything against werewolves she was sure her parents would never approve her dating a white wizard who was a werewolf. Meera was not even sure about his feelings towards her so it was a lost cause and after a few tears Meera had gotten over him. They were finally up to the third floor were all the nice stores were located. "Should we start with Dior?"Meera asked as she took a quick glance on the outfits in display window in the Dior store.

Music started playing through the car it was a Bollywood there from what she assumed was a relatively hit new movie. Tara liked Indian music but at school she never really had the chance to listen to it. She didn't know the song but she joined in the chorus as best as she could. Meera said it was an early birthday gift for when she turned eighteen "that's very early don't you turn eighteen in three yesrs she said. She herself was only turning eighteen this march and she knew meera was two or three years younger than her.
They parked up after the thrill ride of the drive into the mall and was surprised to see such a huge building that if she was right was full of shops. She honestly didn't think there were enough shops to fill the building but she guessed that she was wrong. At the mention of graduation Tara nodded it really was just a few months away and then she would be in the wide world, this wasn't that much of a shock for her as she knew if she had been at home she would have finished school years ago. She was never particularly bright and certainly wasn't bright enough for her parents to pay for the education as it wouldn't be worth it when she could get work or train a craft. yes I did wear that dress. It was cirtainly one that turned heads. I felt like a princess in it she said unaware on who meera was or what her family secret entailed. She smiled and shok her head when asked if she had done with a pretty boy. "no unfortunately no pretty boy, I went with my friends Kate Sara stefan and klaus. I have photos in my case I'll show you when we get back" she said yes stefan and klaus were boys and neither of them bad looking but she knew what her friend had meant by boy and she hadn't been on a date properly since the end of second year before she had broken up with dymetris, since then she had been engaged to Praneil but they had never really dated. It had been an arranged marriage and she had spent most of the time at school and him at his "internship" which had turned out to also be wizard school but a different one to her.
By now they were deep in the mall and surrounded by shops selling only the fanciest high end clothes and other goods, not things that she would have intil she started working for the Gupta even contemplated looking at. Even now she knew she wasn't able to but anything as any money she earned was to go to her family or towards her cafe. whichever shop you want she said when Dior was suggested.

Meera laughed as Tara pointed out that she still had three years to go before she turned eighteen. Sometimes Meera wanted that time to come fast so she would not have to lie to her friends anymore but she knew when the time came she would have to leave her friends and go to India, to the muggle world and having always lived as a witch that did not seem like a very nice idea to her. Meera's smile grew wider as Tara said she had turned heads in the outfit and had felt like a princess. Every girl had the right to feel precious and princess like and Meera was very happy that Tara had felt like that during her dance. "If you weren't so much into cooking, you could be into fashion you know. You did pick out that outfit and that was something" Meera commented cheerfully. Some people thought that only the rich could understand fashion because they could afford it but Tara was proving that wrong. When Tara said she had attended the ball with a group of friends, Meera nodded. She knew that many of the girls had close guy friends. She had seen it at Beauxbatons and her roommates Alice and Charlotte too had guy friends who were just friends but Meera was still very new to that concept. Boys liked weird things like racing, mechanical work, fighting and Meera could not understand how one could be friends with them. She had promised herself that if she found a decent boy back at school she would try to be friends with him. It would leave her out of her comfort zone but everyone seemed to be okay with it and Meera knew that as a Princess she would have to have many friends and social acquaintances and considering all boys as trash would not work anymore. "Do you like this place?"Meera asked just before she pushed the door to the Dior store.

Tara did not know how much help she was to the Gupta family. Meera's parents were planning that if Tara agreed they could maybe get her a restaurant of her own, or a bakery whichever she preferred right here in France. Meera knew of course that Tara would not easily accept such a big gift from her family so she had suggested to her parents that they could offer her the funds as a loan or something. Meera was sure that Tara had so much potential in her that her business would be booming in no time and then she could pay back to the Gupta's. That seemed more like the offer that Tara would accept. "You know there is a whole food court section right upstairs. We'll check it out later" Meera informed Tara. Meera knew food associated stuff interested the young chef but for now they would be concentrating on clothes. "C'mon. We've got to find the right things for your graduation" Meera said, excitement in her voice. "Do you want to wear something Indian or western on your graduation?" she asked Tara curiously. Of course they would have the graduation gowns and caps but what Tara wore underneath would still matter very much especially if they had a after party or something. "If you plan on wearing a dress... then" Meera said as she scanned some of the dresses that were hung in the racks. "For light colors this would look amazing on you" Meera said holding out a lightly pink cream colored floor length dress with long sleeves. It would look formal and make Tara look matured too.

Tara thought when Mera said she would be good at fashion if she wasn't into cooking. "I am only really into cooking because i know it is hard to have a career in art" she said. she had loved drawing. it was her way of capturing the wonder and beauty in the world so that others see it. she guessed that cooking was also a way of making things that others would appreciate, the difference between eating for the nutrients or eating for the pleasure and flavour and memories the food contained. when asked if she liked the place she looked around. "I do not know. I have not been here long, it looks nice." she said. it was very clean white lines, and modern design. maybe it was her indian heritage but she did like a little colour sometimes.
she followed Meera into the Dior shop looking at the dresses. they looked beautiful but oh so posh. she could never wear something like that, it was much more in Meeras league. the dress that her friend picked was beautiful it looked like a dove somehow. simple elegant and classy. "It is beautiful." she said. "but aren't we here looking for things for you?" she asked. she was uncomfortable with people, especially the guptas, who had done so much for her, looking at such expensive clothing for her. she couldn't say no to their hospitality, as it would be impolite. but she felt so guilty saying yes to them.

Meera's bedroom had a huge walk in closet and her wardrobe was huge. Even at school she had so many dresses some of which were totally brand new. She did not like meeting new people very much but every now and then someone who was close to her hand an invite to a party and she was required to be present at social gatherings of the schools elite students. As such parties usually revolved around dressing up in the best outfits, dancing and flirting Meera had to be sure she had all the right clothes and accessories and she had been doing very well in that department. "Yes I will definitely buy something but we have to get you something you can wear on the day of your graduation, right?" she said to Tara. To Meera, Tara sounded somewhat crazy. They were here together and they were going to shop for the both of them. "This one's gorgeous. You would look a total babe in it" Meera said with excitement as she pulled out another dress. This one was more glamorous than the previous one. The previous one was more classy. She was not sure what Tara's dressing style at school was but she was sure that both these dresses would look perfect on her. Meera looked through a few more dresses and her eyes landed on a black dress. "I think graduation should have more colors so I wouldn't recommend you this one but it would be perfect for any other evening" Meera said giving Tara her advice and suggestion on the matter. "So what do you think?" she asked Tara wondering which dress did Tara like the most. "You could try them on and see" Meera said to her friend. Shopping was one of things that came into Meera's favorite things to do list. It was not everyday that Meera had a friend to accompany her in shopping let alone an Indian witch friend.Meera thought both the dresses that she had picked out for Tara were unique in their own style and she would have probably bought both of them. Meera had her eyes on a few dresses herself. She was thinking maybe two floor length gowns and two short dresses. Meera however was not going to do all her shopping from one store.

tara was stuck she knew that meera was just being nice but it was making her feel slightly uncomfortable. she didn't like being the charity case. and she knew she wouldn't be able to justify spending so much on a dress even if she could afford it. she had felt bad enough asking praneil and the patils for help. "I actually have something i have been saving for graduation" she said. "It is a really nice colourful churida" she said. it had been her mothers and her best dress at that, and she had been saving it for something special.
realising that she was just putting a downer on the day and Merra was enjoying herself she decided not to worry. she didn't have to buy anything. "I like the white one, but i'm not a fan of the print." she said. when she was shown the black dress she agreed too. "I also think that graduation needs a little colour" she said. "I will give them a try" she said taking the three dresses. she tried the black one on first. it fit nicely. a way only fine clothes did. she opened the door. "It's nice, but it feels just a little too black" she said. the black of the dress plus the black of her hair made her skin look darker too making everything feel a little monotonous. she then returned to the room and tried on the print. before showing that one on to meera. "it is a nice dress but not my style" she said. it was glamorous. that was for sure. and she didn't feel like she could pull off glamorous well, her frame was small, and not quite curvy enough to be curvy and not uncurvy enough to be not. and she wasn't a fan of animal prints either. last but not least she tried on the white one. it was nice, the fabric felt light. and it hung nicely. "this one is nice" she said showing her friend.

Meera was someone who saved special dresses for special events and she totally understood when Tara said she had a churidar saved for the graduation. Meera did not mind Tara just trying on the dresses for fun either. If the saleswoman was not eying them Meera would have gotten her camera out and taken Tara's pictures in the dresses. "Yeah you're right" she said as she watched her friend try on the black dress. Tara's tanned skin and black hair did not stand out much when she wore black and that was no fun. Meera scanned a new section of dresses hoping to find something she liked. A few dresses she saw were just too short and revealing. Backless, sleeveless with low cut neck and short, how could one put all that in one dress? Meera frowned and put back the dress which she had just checked. The dress with a good color had all the wrong cuts and the ones with the good cuts had dull colors. After looking some more she found a nice floor length sleeveless emerald green dress. It was not too heavy and Meera thought it would be just right for her to wear on a simple evening when she did not want to look too fancy. She heard the door to the changing room open and turned to see how the third dress looked on Tara.

"It looks so good on you" she said admiring her friend as she stood trying the first dress that Meera had picked out for her. "You have to get it for some other event if not graduation" Meera said trying to convince her friend. Meera knew Tara was working for her family to support her family and even though Meera had never been to Tara's family home she knew they must be poor and such expensive dresses were not something Tara could get and feel happy. "How about this?" she said with a smile as a idea rose in her head. "I'll get this for you and then I won't give you any gifts for your birthday or Christmas?" she offered, the smile still on her face as she waited for her friend's answer. Meera knew Tara's birthday would be coming up soon in March and Meera would not be able to meet her then as they would have school so Meera hoped Tara would accept this gift as an early birthday present. "And what do you think about this one, for me?"she asked Tara holding out the green dress to see her friends opinion on it.

Tara saw mera with a dress in her hands. when meera said that she had to buy the dress she looked at the floor absentmindedly playing with the ends of her hair. she didn't really have any strong intention of buying it, it was nice but she liked colour and she couldn't justify spending so much on a dress.
when she offered to get her the dress for both christmas and birthday she couldn't really say no. though she didn't really want meera to spend too much on her. she thought for a moment. "Okay. you can buy me one thing today as a birthday and christmas present. do you really want to get it in the first shop before we look elsewhere" she said. they could always come back if that was really want she wanted her to get.
meera showed her a dress she had found for her self Tara nodded. it was a pretty and elegant dress. "you have to try it Meera. it's beautiful, both style and colour" she said. she was sure it would look beautiful on her friend, everything always did, she was the kind of girl who could wear a bin bag and make it look like high fashion. she headed into her change room and changed back into her own clothes hanging the dress neatly on the hanger. and was out ready to see Meera in the dress.

Meera was worried Tara would say no to her suggestion. For this reason when Tara agreed a big smile came to Meera's face. She was about to tell the lady in charge that they would be buying it when Tara said they should check out the outfits in the other stores. Meera was someone who bought the things she loved. She was not taught much budgeting, she tried but it just didn't work out. It was hard but she knew she wanted to get the best outfit for Tara and the if they saw another more better one Tara would never agree to get that if she already had one. With a sigh she nodded and said "Yeah, we'll check our more stores and then decide". She managed a smile feeling better as she was able to control her instant shopping habit. Turning her attention to her own dress she grinned as her friend said it was good. Taking it to the changing room she tried it on and looked at her reflection in the mirror.

Not bad, she thought commenting on how the dress looked on her.She did have some clothes in green color but none in this shade and she loved the strapless style. Plain dress so some heavy necklace would be great. Meera came out of the changing room to show the dress to Tara Sitara. "What do you think?" she asked a little excited. Shopping was one of the things that got this girl excited and doing it with Tara was just the best. "We should check out the perfumes!" she said as she spotted some of the new ones on the shelf. She picked up the one which was for testing and sprayed a bit on her hand and inhaled the scent. It was amazing. A mixture of flowers scents but just stronger. Meera brought her hand closer to Tara's nose to try the smell.

Tara could see that meera was happy to be getting her a dress. though she could see that she wasnt particularly happy with the one dress budget. she could tell she was tempted but didn't want to waste the day shopping incase there was something else. "w can always come back here if you decid on this one" she said. it was a beautiful dress but she liked a more indian style of clothing than western and she liked colour more than cream.
when meera showed her the dress she smiled. "It looks beautiful, simple and elegant" she said wondering if meera would get it. she didn't get an answer as her friend went over to the perfumes. she followed glad that her dresses were already back on the hangers and followed Meera to the scents catching in on the excitement. she smelt the girls wrist as she offered it to her "that is pretty," she said it was a nice floral scent. something she could picture her friend kate in. she picked up another bottle and sprayed it on one of the little pieces of card. before smelling it. "that one is too musky." she said putting it in the small discard bin. looking at the other bottles to see what other ones there were.

Like all other fashion related things, Meera had a good number of perfumes too but she did not use them all. Her favorite one was Alta moda from Dreams. It was still a small brand but the fragrance was something Meera felt like her own. She inhaled the perfume that Tara tried. She had to agree, it was musky. Meera wondered if she should get a perfumes for Alice and Charlotte. She did have to give them Christmas presents too. She tried another perfume which was called Blooming Bouquet. It had a very nice scent of Mandarin and Peony. "This one is good" she said with a grin as she checked the price. It was quite reasonable and Meera thought it would suite Alice more than Charlotte. "Thanks, Tara." She wondered if she should get the dress or see some more. After changing back to her clothes she asked the assistant to pack the perfume and decided to leave the dress for later. If Tara tried to back out from buying that dress Meera would have a reason to make her come back to the Dior store by insisting that she needed her green gown.

As they left the dior store Meera realized the she was being side tracked from the real purpose of this trip. "Should we get something to drink? I am very thirsty" Meera said to her friend and lead her to another floor where the food court was located. "I want a fruit punch" Meera said to the waiter after reading the menu. She waited for Tara to place her order and then began "Have you every been to any other part of India other than Uttarakhand?" she began with a simple question and hoped that her tone sounded casual to Tara.

Tara liked the perfume that Meera sowed her. "nice and citrusy" she said picking up the bottle and spraying a little on herself. before nervously glancing around to the sale assistant. she waited as meera changed back and purchased the perfumes. she really was starting to enjoy herself forgetting the duty, and everything she usually held close regard to. she was just a teenager with nothing more important to think about than having a good time shopping with her friend, not her employer hr friend.
they left the shop and she looked around the mall. it was really airy. when Meera suggested getting a drink she smiled. "that would be lovely" she said following her to a cafe hp an escalator and tucked away in the food court. she looked at the menu and saw something she quite fancied. "please may i have a Chai latte" she said. as she made her way over to her table Meera asked if she had been anywhere else in india. "no, just Uttarakhand. many people at my home town believe me to be at an art school in Delhi" she said taking a seat at the table they had picked in the corner.

Their drink soon arrived. Meera sipped her fruit punch hoping that her nervousness was not showing on her face. She was usually very good with hiding emotions but not when she was super nervous. "Art school, huh?" she said as she thought about the people who believed Tara was studying art. "You can't go very wrong there. You can dance and cook!" she said with a smile. The muggles who her parents knew were told that Meera was in an British boarding school so she didn't have to worry about that. Meera took another sip of her punch as she gathered up some courage and said "You know India has President and all the government system but a few areas are still ruled by royal families. When the British ruled there were Kings who reported to them and then once they left some of the Kings were still in power. Like in Gujrat there are quite a few royal families. Joshi, Khetia and the... Patel family" she told Tara. She knew this must sound very weird to her but she had no better way of telling her. Meera drank some more of her punch and gave her friend a smile. "Ever heard of them?"she asked Tara. She knew that it was not common for people in other states, especially ones with different culture and far geographical location to know about their royal family but she had to start somewhere.

Tara watched Meera, she thought the girl looked tense like she had something on her mind. maybe she was deciding weather to get the dress or not. "yep arts school. apparently my mum sold a picture of mine to a tourist when i was nine after she helped put them up when all other accommodation was full. so they offered to send me to art school. or so the story goes" she said. not that any of it is true other tan my mother did sell her paintings and still does, and they did once or twice put up some ourests when they had no hotel. to be honest dancing isn't my strongest tenet. I always preferred drawing. and cooking only happened when i realised I had better find myself a possable career" she said honestly. trying to take meeras mind from the dress or wherever it was. there was no need for her to worry. she was a little surprised by the change of topic to politics. she had learned some things about politics but not much. and at home her family was more religious than political. "yes. I heard that some areas were still ruled by kings. though i don't know which ones. you say Gujrat still is. Is that were your family comes from?." she said not sure what to make of the topic. mrs Patil had been her teacher though social studies and although she was good teacher she had left muggle school aged eleven, and to be honest trying to cram history geography and economics in one afternoon a week was enough of a pinch without learning about different kings in places most of the students would never visit. it was good enough that she knew where it was. "no i haven't heard of the, I'm sorry" she said a little embarrassed that she was not able to join the conversation properly.

Meera nodded listening to Tara as she talked about being a better at drawing than dancing. Meera remembered one of the letters that Tara had sent her and the design it had on the side. Meera liked to paint but colors were a main part of it. Black and white drawings she could not do. "I have to meet your family sometime. You have a brother right?"she asked Tara. She remembered Tara mention that he did something related to temples. Once Meera was officially recognized as a Princess she would go to all the places in India that she had ever heard of. Especially the ones her parents had described to her. Meera heard Tara's answer and gave her friend a small smile. "Yes, my family moved to France from Gujrat. Ahmadabad to be specific" Meera informed Tara and took the last sip of her punch. Her nervousness had made her drink way faster than her usual speed and this was so opposite of her princess like self. Meera hoped that Tara would not get upset after hearing Meera's story. She did not want to lose such a good friend.

"So the Patel family. It was the highest amongst the royals like fifteen years back. There were two brothers, the elder one was going to be announced King but the younger one wanted the throne. The younger one poisoned the entire clan including his own father. But the other brother, he escaped. His wife was a witch. She cured him with a potion" Meera said, her voice very serious as she told Tara the story omitting the name of her grandfather, her father and her step uncle. Meera knew if she stopped now then she wouldn't have the courage to speak again. "They knew after a week that it was the step brother who did it. If they went back to their kingdom he would surely kill them so they decided to move to France" Meera finished as she looked at Tara waiting for the expressions on her face as she would make the connection. "The prince who was meant to be King had a daughter too, I am her. My family has been living in hiding under the Gupta name. My real name is Rajkumari Meera Samarjitsingh Jayantilal Patel" she said and then took a deep breath as she waited for Tara to say something. She prayed that Tara would take it alright and not be mad. This was the first time the secret was out of the family and they were trusting Tara more than she could imagine. She knew Tara would understand the translation of Rajkumari being the hindi word for Princess.

Tara nodded when asked if she had a brother "yes keval he is a few years older than me" she said she would have to write to her brother soon to see how he was. she hadn't heard from him for ages. her attention turned back to her friend as she confirmed that that was the part in india she was from. she took a sip of her chai wondering what to say. she had never heard of that place as anything more than a name on a map.
luckily meera continued to talk. telling the story of a royal family, the patels. to begin with she wasn't sure where the story was going. not until she said that they moved to france then it dawned on her. Her eyes widened and her jaw would have dropped if she hadn't been drinking at the time. when meera revealed that she was in fact the princess she put her drink down. "wow. Rajkumari Patel. I am honoured to be your cook and friend" she said in hindi bowing her head as much as she could whilst sitting. she would never have thought in a million years she would be working for a princess or heavens forbid friends with one. she knew the gupta were pretty high up but not that high. words failed her, she really couldn't think of what else to say so she waited for meera to say something.

sorry it isn't that good

Meera watched Tara nervously as the latter's eye widened. Meera hoped the news would come off as good rather than a shock. Meera could not help but notice how Tara put down her drink. It was scaring her now. Maybe this was a bad idea. "I'm sorry I couldn't tell you earlier. No one other than my family and now you knows about this" she explained with a sigh her face tensed because she hated hiding it. When Tara finally spoke, this time in Hindi, the tension on Meera's face began to disappear and she small smile formed on her lips as she watched her friend bow to her. It was a weird sight and she ignored a few stares from the people around them. She felt relaxed that Tara was not mad at her but she had to explain more. Tara had not asked her any questions but Meera was sure Tara would be curious about a few things. "Well, thank you" she said as her smile grew. She did not want Tara to refer to her as Rajkumari all the time because not only would that bring unnecessary attention but also it would bring formality in their relationship and she did not want her position in the royal family to come between her friendship with any of her friends.

"My father did not have the courage to go back at the time. My step uncle knows that we are somewhere in hiding as he did not get the dead bodies and he is searching for us. My parents decided that when I turn eighteen we shall return and fight back and put my step uncle in jail. My father will be crowned King and I, a muggle princess" she said the last part a bit sadly because that was going to put an end to her magic. She wondered if she should tell Tara that she had a few more hidden talents and about her training with Arjun. They had introduced Arjun to Tara as Gupta's family friend and far cousin. Maybe once they went back home, Tara would see Meera train and Meera would tell her then that Arjun was the family guardian and Meera's tutor. Of course neither Meera or Arjun knew that Arjun was in fact a royal too, from the Joshi family and Meera's parents had plans of getting Arjun and Meera married in the future. "I'm glad I have told you. Its so hard hiding all the time. At school of course I can't tell anyone. At home now I can be myself" she said with a smile as she asked the waiter for the bill.

Tara wasn't mad at meera or upset at all. she was hardly ever mad at anyone. and she was sure the gupta or rather patel family had their reasons for not revealing who they are. they had doe so much for her, given her a job, and a good one. with good pay where they understood her schooling and there was no commitment during the term. they had given her a lot and she knew she owed them for it. "you don't need to apologise. I realise you cant tell everyone"" she said thinking about it. she was surprised that she was the only person other than her family who knew. she would take the secret to her grave is she had to. as meera explained that she would be moving back for her dad to take the thrown when she was eighteen. she did detect the sadness in her voice and she had a feeling she knew why. she felt a similar sadness when she thought about her future hen she thought she would be having to marry a muggle, and live as a muggle at home. "just because you are living as a muggle doesn't mean you have to totally give up being a witch" she said, even if people thought you were a muggle a little magic could always be used even for simple things.
"I am glad you told me. it must have been hard for you to not be yourself at home" she said glad that she could be trusted by them with such a big secret. "so until you turn eighteen you are meera Gupta a beauxbattons student?" she said making sure she was understanding things right. just then the waiter came over with the bill. she reached for her bag. she did have enough money in there to cover the drinks. however meera was quicker and she knew it would be impolite to insist she payed for herself, she would maybe pay for lunch.

shh, wrong account i know but the holiday forums closed when i was half way though and now it is done i may as well post it

Meera took care of the bill. She was glad the hard part of the day was over. "Thanks for understanding" she said as she smiled at Tara. When Tara told Meera that she would still be using magic at times when living as a muggle, Meera nodded. She knew that Tara was planning on starting a restaurant probably in a muggle area, like Meera Tara too would not have a magic based carrier. "I guess you're right" she said trying to be optimistic. Meera felt relieved and relaxed. The remaining of her day out with Tara was going to be super fun. "You have no idea" Meera said with a chuckle as she stood up thinking about how Tara would react when she saw Meera training. Stepping in the escalator she descended down to the floor with the clothes stores and accessories.

"Yes. That's my cover. I might have done something to blow it but the media's been quite so far. I have my fingers crossed" she informed Tara hoping she would get some of it. Luckily her kiss with Lake had not made it into the headlines and she was just another ordinary Beaux student for now."Oo that Channel store has some good looking assistants" Meera commented as she pointed out the boys that were standing behind the counter. She checked her watch, they still had a lot of time on their hands before lunch and of course before they had to go back home. "Ready for some more fun?"she asked Tara, grinning at her friend.
