after the encouragement that Madlyn had given her that morning she had spent some time that afternoon writing a letter to Iris explaining her actions and apologising for what she had done and what she was. later that evening she headed up to the north tower to post it.
the letter said:
Hello Iris.
I am so sorry for all of the worry that i put your family through last winter. and i want to take some time to explain myself. Madlyn says that you wont mind what i have become, but I wanted to let you know, what has happened to me since you last saw me.
unfortunately this starts with the death of your husband Jackson. so if you want to please skip this paragraph. as you know I was brought up by centaurs. so when i found out how Jackson was killed. I saw it like my kind killed him, and that i was somehow responsible. I don't know how I could have been. but I saw it as such. and due to that i didn't want you to have to have me as a constant reminder. so I left the school early in the day, and went to the south Island to spend the holidays in the mountains.
so (just a quick recap incase you did decide to skip that last paragraph. i got to last winter where i was spending the holidays in the mountains on the southern island). I had spent most of the holiday on my own, camping, collecting food and water, and basically liking like i did when i was a child. however one evening I ran into a boy i had met a few months earlier in brightstone, anyway we shared dinner. unfortunately i dint know that he was a werewolf, and it was the night of a full moon. so when he transformed it was a surprise. and i did the only thing i could do. which is get the hell out of there. I ran and he followed me. I tried to climb out of his way, however i wasn't high enough. and he managed to bite me on the ankle. thankfully something happened and he got scared away, but the damage was done. I flew to St mungo's in the morning, and the healer there did what she could but since then i have been a werewolf.
Last semester at school I managed to hide it.
maybe this is enough news for one letter, but i am on a roll and I have a free afternoon when i don't want to be around the castle. so i am in the grounds by the edge of the lake. waiting for Madlyn and Minoas so i can tell them all of this. where was I. right this holidays i spent some of the time in the castle. and some of it with Dederick (the werewolf) on his boat. don't worry, nothing happened at least not in that way. however after a few days another girl turned up. someone I have had a few fall outs with at school. anyway, she was mad that i was there, and must have worked out what i am. as of today posters appeared around the school saying that I was a werewolf. that is why i am here. I am keeping out of the way of the rest of the school until this months transformation has occurred
I am sorry that this owl has had to bring you such unwanted news. but I hope that you can understand what has occurred. you don't have to reply if you don't want to. I just wanted you to know first hand incase anything ends up spreading through other means. and you hear some wild rumour that isn't true (although i think in this case the truth is just as wild as most rumours.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this.
Briar.
she tied the note to the leg of a school owl and gave it some nuts from her bag. before setting it out of the window and watchigng it fly. once it was nothing more than a spec in the distance she scribbles a quick note to Dederick and sent that headed wearily down to the house, wondering what to expect, she was thankful that most of the Gryfindors had been nice to her about it, although the opposite could be said about the snakes, but that was only expected. as for the other houses, she hadn't seen many people from them so she wasn't sure.

Iris was out in the barn, feeding some chicken lot of bird seeds. She would be sad when she had to sell this farm, it had been home for almost 5 years now. The time was coming when she would have to say goodbye, if only she could afford to keep the place. But it wasn't in her budget to keep it going, if Jackson were alive he would know she was doing for the benefit of all their daughters. She scoop up one cup of bird seeds, scatter them around for them to nip. She was done handling them for the afternoon that day. Iris went inside the house to fetch herself a cup of coffee, when she did she saw an owl swoop over her head.

Quickly she duck to avoid collision with the feathery animal. "Now what in the name..." she scowled the little owl and took the letter from it's beak. She read every word, it almost frighten to hear about Briar dilemma. "Bless that child" she couldn't believe it, it was hard to take in at first but she decided it was best she should write back. To make sure Briar knew she would always be there for her too.

I am glad you took your time out to write this letter, must've been really hard? I know you been through so much, but I want you to know this; you will always be apart of this family. Jackson death has nothing to do with you or who raised you. If he had survived he would've told you that himself, but things happen for a reason. Good or Bad you have to stay positive. We are a strong believe of mother nature, she can give she can take. It's the way its meant to be.

Now about you whole werewolf situation; as long as your doing your part in keeping up with your potion then no one else should be worried about nothing else. I'm sure the professor and headmaster will handle the situation the right way. Whoever may have caused such disgrace will get back what they deserve ten times worst. It's all about Karma sweet heart, and Karma does happen to those who do wrong. What I want you to do is take it easy, be safe, and be happy. I'm sure Madlyn will be there to support you. (I told her a few months back she should be trying to reconnect with you) I'm sure she regretting a little bit now, it's like I say you never know.

I hope to see you soon my dear Briar. We will be moving soon, back to Ireland. Whenever your ready, your always welcome into our home. Again take care and be safe.

Love always,
Iris you adopted Mom.

She sent out the letter with a box of treat (Oatmeal Cookies) for them to have. She just hope both of them will be alright and nothing else bad like this happen again.

Briar Receved two letters in the morning after the full moon. she recognised the writing from one of them, and she was pretty sure that she knew who the other was off. she ripped them both open and then tried to decide which one to read first. i the end she quickly scanned through Dederick's then read Irises before reading Dee's properly. she didn't have time to reply to either of them as she had to go to potions. however wen she had her free period she went to the common room and replied to both.

Dear Iris.
thank you so much for your kind words. you will be pleased to know that Me and Madlyn have made up, and she is supporting me a lot. I will be sharing the Cookies with her this evening (though I am eating one now though and it is delicious). your words reminded me of some of the things we used to understand when i was a child, and i seem to have lost that connection recently. life is always there, the death of something gives life to something else. the death of say a deer would give life to us, then our death would feed the grass which in turn will feed the deer. it cant be controlled, if it is somethings time to die, it will, if no it will get away, survive another day.
as for my wolf problem, I am doing pretty well keeping up with the potion. and that tends to keep the transformations under control, though i still sometimes have trouble keeping fully controlled. and the cavern i stay in gets a little messed up but it gets through the rest of the month. it gets tidied either by house elves, or magic. I hope that you are right about Kama. she deserves to have something coming back to her. something worth watching.
I hope to see you soon too. I will be sad to see you sell the farm, and moving back to ireland. but then again i have never been to ireland so i don't know what it is like there.
thank you a lot
Briar
she didn't head up to the owlery then instead she talked to some of her classmates and friends. instead she waited until after Herbology and sent them off then. for irises she used a sleek looking eagle owl, hoping that it would reach the margeras home in australia by the next morning.

It's been months since Iris sent her daughters a letter. She moved all the way up north towards Netherlands and had been pretty much busy the entire stay there. She was alone, Jackie in Scotland, Madlyn and Briar at Hogwarts, Mandela in New York City. The farm kept her busy when she was alone, she'd be unhappy without her animals, and once in a blue moon she headed over to visit a few relatives in America. Still that void in her heart can't be contain, she had promise to write a few parcels out to all her daughters, plus she had two gifts of present she needed to sent out to New Zealand.

One morning, she sent the gifts out by owl, counting on her feathery friend to make all the way to New Zealand. It was important the girls get these gift, Iris had spent her free hours of the day making them. Briar gift much important while Madlyn was too, just the thought of them nit attending an event because both girls feared of dressing up would be nonsense. She smile as the owl set out to New Zealand, the letter she kept short but the girt was all that matter the most.
