A helping Hand

Kate smiled at the nice man and shook his hand, "Thank you very much." She wispered, due to losing her voice, "Goodbye!"

Smiling to herself she felt pleased - he was the CoMC Professor and she had a plan for him!!

She lay back on the pillows and turned to Sidney Coogan, "When will i be able to leave?" She asked patiently.

"Farewell" Tom said, and left, without a little wave.

Sidney waved "See you around," she said smiling as the man left. "Well ideally I would like you to have a little sleep. Then when your feeling 100% you can leave!" she said "Sound like a good plan?" she asked, smiling warmly at the young girl.

Sidney nodded though she had no idea who James was, "I'll be in my office!" she said softly, smiling as the girl setteled down. She wandered off to her office, leaving the door ajar so she could keep an eye on her.

Sidney had been dozing in her office, she hadn't wanted to leave the wing, not when one of her patients was still here. She was awoken in the darkness by screams. She jumped up, glad she had stayed, and rushed out flicking her wand to turn some lights on. "What is it dear?" she asked, hurrying to her side and summoning a flannel with cold water in and put it on her head, seeing that she was sweating.

"It's okay now, your safe," Sidney said soothingly, Sidney gave Kate a tissue to wipe her tears. "Was it about what happened earlier?" she asked, wondering whether the accident had affected the girl more then she had first suspected.

Kate took the tissue from Sidney and wiped her tears gratefully. "Um, i think it was. All i remeber was some big black-cloaked figure standing over me and then vanishing."

Kate was now shaking as she talked quite violently. The accident had hurt her mentally as well as phisically.

"oh dear," Sidney said quietly and perched herself next to Kate. "It's okay, your safe here," she said softly, "No one can hurt you here. No-one can apparate into the grounds without permission, and your certainly safe with all the wonderful professors here," she said soothingly, she made a mental note to keep an eye of Kate over the next few days, knowing that the time might arrive when she needed to talk things through, she might even need counselling.

Sidney smiled as Kate dozed off once more, though she sat in the chair by the bedside and decided it would be best to stay here for a while. After about five minutes of Kates peacful sleep, Sidney herself dozed off. Waking about 25 minutes later to see Kate in a state once more. "Oh dear," she said softly, once again summoning a wet flannel, "It's okay darling," she said and sat down next to her once more. "It's all over, nothings going to happen." she said, her voice floating through the air like a lullaby. She summoned a little bottle of potion, "Have a sip of this," she said, this would help her sleep peacefully, calm her down a little. "Take this," she said pouring some into a little cup. "Then we'll have a proper chat tommorow okay?" she asked softly.

Kate smiled kindly at Sidney and took the potion thing that she handed her. Instantly she felt soothed and lay back to fall into a deep sleep about deatheaters coming although this time she did not wake up.

The next morning she woke up panting in bed. It was 9:30 and she felt tired as well as awake. She looked up at Sidney.

Sidney smiled as Kate took the potions and fell back to sleep. She didn't move for the whole night, waking every hour or so to cheeck on Kate, each time seeing that the potion was still working.
"Oh darling, bad dream again?" she asked, when she woke to see Kate looking like she had during the night.

As Kate went off to the little washroom at the side of the wing, Sidney went to her own office to wash and put on fresh clothes in the small bathroom attatched to the office. Afterwards sitting in her chair and waiting for Kate, "Right, How are you feeling?" she asked, a cheery smile on her face.

Kate smiled warmly at Sidney and honestly replied, "I feel awful. I slept alright after the potion but i kept having nightmares about Professor Barker." She looked down, embarrased at having nightmares about a thing like that. "I keep imagining that she is in a place filled with men in black cloaks who stride around her. It really freaks me out." She shivered uncontrolably but not because of the cold.

"Oh dear," Sidney said anxiously, "Do you think it would be best if you stayed here for today?" she asked, her eyes scanning the childs face.
"Thats not good, maybe if you talk about it it'll make it better?" she suggested, hoping that she would confide in her.

Sidney nodded, "I suppose that is very frightening." she siad softly, "Everyone is doing everything they can do try and find her you know," she added keeping her tone soft. She saw Kates great big pleading eyes, "Theres nothing wrong, if thats what your thinking," she began, "It's more the normal to dream of an event that has had a big effect on you. Its your mind replaying things your worrying about," she said, "If you can try to relax a little, why not invite a close friend or two up to the wing to spend some time with you?" she suggested, "Friends can sometimes be the best medicine," she added with a soft smile.

Sidney nodded "Sure," she siad, "Would you like to sned them an owl? Or just get them?" she asked, smiling warmly as she thought this would help Kate alot.

"Okay," Sidney said smiling warmly, "Make sure you get enough rest though, don't get too excited," she siad laughing a little.
