better than yours
It was a dark an quiet night. Typical for this time of year. It was calm and a little breeze made its way through the damp back alleys of Bleak Street. There seemed to be a bit of a buzz in the Poison Ater tonight, the kind of buzz which always came around when something good had happened, something dark and evil but still good. Ryan would have been interested to see what had happened usually but tonight he had more important things on his mind. Tonight was the night that he and his partner, Ioan, had to start this job they had been assigned together. He was quite excited about it, not the job itself oh no he was used to going on jobs but it was the fact that he was going to cause pain to another which he was anxious to start doing. He had come prepared, his wand in his back pocket, a couple of vials in his jacket pocket they contained a few potions which could cause immense pain and if needed one could cause death. Just in case his superior partner went soft on the mission. He didn't seem like the type but still it was just in case.

He lifted his butterbeer to his lips and took a sip. As he was working right now he did not want to have any alcohol, he liked to keep a clear head when working. It meant less room for mistakes. He kept himself to himself, careful not to attract too much attention. He had been coming here for a few years now and the other regulars here knew not to mess with him so he did not have too much trouble not being bothered. He just wanted to get stated already, he had told Noemi that he was out on business for a while an he wasn't sure when he would get back, she had moaned but e had not listened and had left anyway. Running his hand through his hair Ryan waited quietly

Ioan lifted his daughter up and placed a kiss on her forehead before placing her into her mother's arms. He put his large hand on his son's head and tousled the boy's dark hair. Ioan was feeling affectionate tonight. He always felt a bit more sentimental on nights when he had missions like this one. Things could always go wrong and though they never had yet, it only needed to occur once and there'd be no heading home for him. Ioan could only hope that his partner would have his back and that things would turn out right. Ioan patted his pockets, making sure he had everything he needed: his wand, some galleons just in case and his gloves. That was all he needed.

With a quick kiss to Adrianne, Ioan stepped through the door and began walking towards the Poison Ater, hearing the loud click of the locking door behind him. It was a very short walk and before he knew it, Ioan was opening the door to the pub and looking for Ryan. It was rather crowded tonight and as Ioan made his way to his partner, he caught snippets of conversation, a morbid story coming together piece by piece. Had he been simply here on leisure, he would have already been at the bar listening to the bartender re-tell the story. Unfortunately, he had a job to do tonight. "Hey...busy night huh?" he asked as he finally reached him. "Ready to go? We can discuss everything on the way" he added a bit impatiently.

Ryan twitched his neck to the side which sent a crack running down his spine. His bed was not as comfy as it used to be and he would nee to get a new one, the whole of his New Zealand home would need re-doing, not because it was run down but because he just felt like it. He had money to burn and why not make his home look great. Not to mention he had to baby proof everything for when Shane starts to crawl and walk. He took a sip of his drink as he thought about his son. The young boy looked just like his dad. He was sure that he would have his mothers personality however.

As he placed the glass back on the bar he heard a voice very close to him and after looking around he saw who it was. To Ryan's relief he didn't want to hang around, that was good for him. Standing up he nodded. "Sounds good lets go." He said leaving his drink half full behind him as he walked to he door. "Its still France we are gong to first right." He asked making sure the plan had not changed over the past few days. He waned to know the plan of action perfectly before he did anything, just so he id not slip up because he as not prepared although being unprepared was something new death eaters tended to do but he had learnt to prepare for any eventuality a job may have. Which was the reason for the vials in his pocket. "Do you know exactly where in France this informant is?" He asked once they were outside, his dark eyes flickered in his direction as Ryan spoke to him.

Ioan led the way to the door, his long gait and squared shoulders making quick work of the space between the bar and the door. Most people moved out of his way when he walked. He was tall and well- built and with a serious look on his face, Ioan always looked like he meant business. He nodded his head when he heard the man speak, but didn't say anything until they'd gone outside. "I told you I was good at finding people. Of course I know where he is" Ioan said cooly. He pulled out a piece of parchment with the address they would be heading to written on it. It was in Marseilles. Passing it over, Ioan leaned against the brick wall of the place.

"He should be just about getting out of work. He's taken a job at a bookshop" Ioan said disdainfully. He didn't know what the man had done in the death eater ranks but he knew it had to do with information gathering. "If we apparate there now, we can head him off before he heads inside. Once he's inside, he won't leave again until morning and I bet he's got some nasty security in place." If they had to deal with it, they would. But, the whole thing would be loads easier if they could head him home before he set a foot inside. "Sound like a plan?" he asked simply, his blue-green eyes beginning to look excited, the only sign of any emotion that could be caught on his face.

Ryan nodded as Ioan told him that he knew where he was. He was glad of this factor as it was a big time saver for the both of them and seeing as the guy had a family he guessed it was a good thing to him as well. Ryan examined the parchment carefully as Ioan explained their plan of action and where they would need to go. It seemed pretty simple to him although there could be a few improvements. "Sounds good although i think we should split up for this. You say he is ex death eater which means he probably knows you. If I go in front to get him and you behind, he wont know me so wont do a runner." Ryan said putting forward his idea. It seemed like a good idea to him but Ioan was the one with the rank here so it would really be down to him. "Or you know polyjuice potion could always work." He said as a little joke although he quickly returned to his serious state as they were after all working and it was a serious job. With another quick examination of the map on the wall Ryan shifted his dark eyes back to his partner. "Sounds like a plan to me." He answered quickly. He cracked his neck, read to apperate once Ioan did, he was getting a little anxious about starting now he always did on a job. Just wanting to get it done as quickly and painfully as possible

Ioan listened to Ryan, his eyebrow rising as he heard his addition to the plan. It was something that Ioan had considered and after a brief second of contemplation, he nodded. "That actually makes sense" he replied restlessly. He almost regretted the compliment when Ryan attempted a joke. Ioan got it but didn't find it funny.

Pushing off of the wall, Ioan spoke. "So, I'll take the front and you take the back. See you in a few" he said before he apparated away. Landing in the middle of an alley in France, Ioan smirked as a cat yowled and went racing away from him. He strolled out of the alleyway, glad to be rid of the horrible smells within, and turned the corner towards the wizard's address. It was a small flat and thank merlins, there was an old lady stepping out as he arrived. Ioan held the door open for her, and gave her a polite smile as she called him a nice young man. The smile slid off of his face as soon as he walked through the door. If she only knew he thought to himself as he leaned against the wall opposite a staircase. It was dark and concealed and it was likely that the man wouldn't see him until it was too late, and even if he did, Ryan would be following him from behind, leaving him nowhere to go.

Ryan continued with his silence as Ioan said his plan made sense. It was not a comment that required an answer so there was no point giving one unless he wanted to waste his breath. Not being a person who did an action with good reason Ryan would not be acting out of turn any time soon especially not tonight.

As Ioan pushed off the wall as gave a very quick brief of the action plans and apperated Ryan rolled his eyes and quickly apperated to the sapecified location. He landed in a very dark corner by the block of flats where he was needed Walking to the back doors of the flat he looked around to make sure no one could see and slyly flicked his wand to open the doors before walking in and standing by them to wait until he was needed. If everything went to plan than Ioan would get him strait away and Ryan would not need to play a part but just in case he was staying on his guard for when/if he was needed.

A door opening and shutting echoed through the halls followed by footsteps. Not being able to see who it was Ryan listened carefully to hear a struggle, if it was the intended bloke then there would either be running in Ryan's direction or a struggle for when Ioan tried to restrain him. Which ever it was Ryan listened just in case if was their guy

Ioan could only hope that Ryan had arrived and gone into position. The man, although not particularly friendly, seemed to be responsible. He wasn't too worried about him, which was good since there were already plenty of things to worry about here. Like clockwork, at the time that Ioan had seen him walk through the door on previous nights of surveillance, the guy walked through the door. He wasn't particularly large. In fact, he was fairly mousy looking, short and anxious. He looked every which way before he entered the vestibule area and his eyes stopped on the spot where Ioan was standing. Ioan smiled cruelly as he realized that the man had spotted him.

It quickly went away. A curse ripped through the air as the guy began to run towards the back. Ioan reached out and grabbed the man's jacket, only for him to wriggle his way out and continue running. Ioan threw it on the ground in frustration, beginning to chase after him as he pulled out his wand and sent out a petrificus totalus, which the man dodged. Thankfully, no one was in the darkened lobby of the flat but he knew he couldn't try that again or they might have a real mess on their hands, which would go against the whole 'keep it quiet' order they'd been given. As the man reached the area where Ryan was supposed to be waiting, Ioan called out, "Grab him!"

As Ryan stood still and silent he listened to the footsteps leading up to Ioan. They were normal until they stopped for a second or two then turned to a running speed in Ryan's direction. He tensed his body ready to grab the guy as he ran in to him. It didn't take long before he was running around a corner and towards Ryan. Grabbing an arm and throwing him in to the wall and holding him there. His grip was tight, maybe a bit too tight in order to cause incomfort. Ryan turned to Ioan as the guy struggled to go, and shouted. He took a quick look around to check they were alone then took his wand out and with a quick waved silenced the guy. "Where to now." He asked turning back to his partner. His prediction about this guy running at the sight of him was corrected and he was feeling slightly smug about it but he would not show it now though. He just tightened his grip and smiled slightly grinned at his pain.

Things couldn't have turned out better in Ioan's opinion. Ryan was exactly where he'd said he would be and O'Hara never saw it coming until he was pressed up against the horrible cracked wallpaper of the vestibule. Ioan stopped in front of the pair, glad that he wasn't out of breath. The death eater was pushing thirty, but kept himself in decent enough shape that the short sprint had been nothing to him.

Ioan could see the man's grimace of pain and he knew Ryan had to be putting an immense amount of pressure on his arm. A smirk crossed his face. "Where to? His flat of course" he said as he took a step closer to the man and looked into the man's beady little eyes. The look he gave the man signaled pain to come. "You're going to take us in so we can have a little chat. It seems you need a reminder about a few things" he said as he placed his hand into the opening of the jacket pocket to search for a key. Sure enough, there was one. He quickly made his way to the stairs and went up them quickly, checking to be sure the coast was clear before signaling for Ryan. He put the key into the lock and turned it slowly, his wand at the ready in case there were traps of any kind.

As he swung the door open, there was nothing but a small barely furnished room within. He quickly cast the homenum revelio spell and when nothing came of it, Ioan signaled Ryan in again and nodded his head toward a chair facing a window as he went around pulling the shades closed. The two death eaters were supposed to be like ghosts, acting without being seen and thus far, things had worked out. Now, the job was nearly done.
