Seventh Years: Lesson 4

Hades remained on top of the desk, and did not have anything on the board. There was a reason why. This would be a lesson that would be heading outside because it was a destructive spell. He even had his gloves on to head outside, which was because the winter was coming, and he felt more comfortable wearing gloves anyway. "So, today we won't be inside for long because of the nature of the spell. This spell is Deprimo, and it simply blasts a hole through a target. It can be a wall, a floor, anything. Let's head out." Hades hopped off the desk and walked to the door, assuming the seventh years would come along if they wanted to learn the spell. They would need it on the upcoming NEWT anyway.

Once outside, he led over the six foot blocks of wood that still did not go over his head, not even close with him being nearly seven feet tall. He patted one of the blocks of wood. "These are solid. I'll demonstrate on this one first, and then you each have one of your own." Hades stepped around and faced the block of wood. He aimed and intoned the spell. The spell blasted a large hole in the wood, with just mere inches from the edge of the block. "Just like any other spell, practice makes perfect. Once you blast a whole clean through your block of wood, you may leave." Hades moved to stand behind the students, for his own safety since even though he had several piercings, he did not need any additional holes he did not ask for.

Teddy had read up on Deprimo ahead of the lesson as instructed and was really excited to try it for himself. He walked outside where he enjoyed the demonstration then took out his wand to try for himself. He only had to cast once and he managed to blast a hole in the wood first time. Satisfied with his work and feeling good, Teddy finished the lesson with a big grin on his face.
 
Dominic was glad that he was halfway through the semester. It meant that he was halfway through half of his classes, and that was some good progress. Even though his work was piling up, it meant he was halfway with finishing it all, and he couldn’t wait until he could finally enjoy the break. He entered the Charms classroom and sat down in his usual spot, before reverting his attention to the front. They weren't going to be sitting for long however as the professor instructed them all to follow him outside where they would be learning the new spell. Dominic did so, keen to see the next spell in action.

The professor demonstrated the spell on a block of wood before instructing them to do the same thing on their own block of wood. The prefect wondered when he was ever going to need this spell, but he shrugged and took out his wand nonetheless so he could complete the task. He pointed his wand straight at the block of wood and said the incantation, almost demanding for it to happen. It took a couple of tries and some of his imagination, but he managed to do it. He headed back inside once dismissed.
 
Veronica didn’t get too comfortable as Professor Styx informed them they would be moving outside to practice their recent spell. It was quite a destructive spell, and Veronica figured it would be quite fun to blow holes in some things as they got closer to the end of their time at school. She followed Professor Styx and her classmates out of the classroom and outside onto the grounds. He led them to some six-foot blocks of wood, and they would be trying to use the spell to blow holes in the wood. Veronica took out her wand and got to work casting Deprimo. Once she managed to blast a hole through her piece of wood, she returned to the castle.
 
They were back to casting destructive spells, and Millie wasn’t happy about it, but Veronica seemed to be in her element with another blasting spell. Because the spell was so destructive, Professor Styx led them outside so they could practice. It was a hard spell for Millie to learn; she always struggled with blasting, but after several failed attempts, she managed to blast an imperfect hole in the piece of wood. Once she had done so, she packed up and left.
 
Callie walked into the charms classroom and took her usual spot in the room. She glanced towards the professor as the man got started but they weren't in the class for long, she followed the professor and everyone else outside to where they were shown the spell and then asked to have a go at it. Callie nodded taking her wand out of her pocket and then moving to stand apart and then practiced the spell. She did the spell a few times before getting something and by the end of the lesson had greatly improved. She then packed up and headed back into the school.
