Rachel had only been to Greece once before, when she was five, but she'd been five which meant she barely remembered it. It had been mummy's favourite holiday though, which meant now that she was older they'd returned for another visit. It was the first full day of the trip, and mummy had already tanned so much in the sun that her skin was bronzed as they stepped out and through the streets. Most children were still at school because the schools hadn't actually broken up for the holidays yet, but Rachel's parents had managed to wrangle her out of that place early, which meant she was now free until September. Without a care in the world, the brunette strolled downhill, her small purse draped over her shoulder as she hurried after her parents, careful not to trip in her pink flipflops.

Melinoë loved Greece, don't get her wrong she was grateful for everywhere she'd been and gotten to live in but there was just something about Greece. It was her home country and the place she'd always come to with open arms. She'd been so happy when mama had decided after the twins that they'd be spending more time at home. Walking down the streets in her glittery black sundress and ballerinas Mel was humming to herself, she had some bat wing clips in her hair and was focused on her bracelet that had come loose when she collided with someone's back. "Oh, I'm so sorry." The brunette said in Greek, raising her eyes to the back of the girl.

Rachel practically fell face first into another girl that wasn't looking where she was going. She grunted more out of pain than shock, "Watch it," she backed up a step, just glad the girl hadn't stepped on her toes. "Sorry, I didn't mean ter," she shot the girl a small smile, unsure whether she had any idea what she was saying. If anything, maybe she would take pity on her and let her go. She glanced down, spotting something small, black and slightly shiny on the floor. Bending down, Rachel picked up something that sort of looked like it might be a charm from somewhere. "Is this yours?" she offered her palm to the stranger, showing what it contained.

Melinoë felt bad for bumping into this girl and for a moment her brows pulled together in a frown when the girl spoke. Ah, English she wasn't from around here then. "I'm sorry," She repeated but this time in the language the girl had spoken in. Though Mel had cousins that spoke English and had lived a little all over her Greek accent was still very much there and.... strong. Blinking a few times she cast her glance down at the girls hands, it was the little charm of a bat from her bracelet that had apparently now come loose too. "Oh, it is... Um you can have it as an um aplogy for walking against you?" Melinoë said, struggling a little to find the correct words she was looking for in English.

Even though it was a bit harder to understand the girl more than most people she knew, Rachel's smile grew wider as she spoke to her in English. She seemed to recognise the charm too, which was a bonus because otherwise Rachel had just picked some dusty old thing off the floor. She glanced up the street towards her parents, who'd now paused while mummy was sampling sunglasses, and daddy was giving her varying degrees of approval across his face. They hadn't even noticed she'd lagged behind, not that Rachel minded. It gave her time to talk to the girl. Peering harder at the charm, she noticed it was something with wings, perhaps a black butterfly, but it was still hard to tell. It was probably broken too, if it had come from the girl, but she didn't want to be rude. "I'll.. put it in my bag ter keep it safe," she told her, unzipping it slightly before dropping it inside. "Cheers," she hadn't expected a present from the stranger, and she probably just didn't want it anymore since it was on the floor earlier, but she'd throw it in the bin later when the girl wasn't watching. "Do you have a name?" she ought to probably know the stranger's name incase she had to retell this story.

Melinoë frowned a little again, what was ter? She decided not to question it just nod and give a small smile. She then gave a shrug as the girl said Cheers, that's what auntie Mae said clinking her glass to others, but this girl had no drink in hand nor was she clinking it with anyone. Odd one. "Oh, it's Melinoë, but everyone uses Mel." She explained awkwardly. "What's your name?" Mel asked with a bit of curiosity while examining the rest of her charms in her bracelet, still hanging on thankfully. Shame she'd lost her favourite one, though it must have been broken to come off like that. She could always ask baba for a new one, Melinoë was sort of baba's favourite as it stood and he could never say no to his little princess after all. "You here for a holiday?" The brunette suddenly asked, wondering if that was the case. Had to be really.

Rachel thought Melinoe was a very fancy name, very pretty, and much more interesting than her's. "Maybe you shouldn't always shorten it, it's nice long," the girls' attention seemed to drop to her hand, so Rachel didn't push it any more. "My name is Rachel. One of my teachers, Mrs Tetherby, who is quite a weird teacher really because she always comes to school a different hat every day, she called me Rach sometimes, but she's the only person who does." Mummy and Daddy often just called her by her full name or sweetheart, and David was only four so he didn't really say her name at all.

The brunette nodded as Mel asked her a question. "Yes. We went on a holiday to Cornwall a few months back but mummy wanted to come here again so badly." The last time they'd been here had been an eventful trip, although Rachel hoped the same outcome wouldn't happen again. "Last time we came here, my brother was actually born on the flight, so technically that makes him part greece," Rachel just hoped she wouldn't go home with another David this time.

Melinoë raised her eyes again and gave a genuine smile. Most people liked to shorten her name because they found it too long, especially writing it because of the ë. "I like your name, it's very beautiful." She told the girl with a smile after she was finished with her story. That teacher did sound interesting though, Mel wondered what it would be like to have a teacher that wasn't your parent. She'd always been home schooled by her mama, so she didn't really know. Mania said Hogwarts had many fun Professors so hopefully she'd have some soon enough too.

"Well Greece is very nice," She said looking around the people browsing the shops around them and walking down the streets. "Oh, that's.... nice?" Mel said, wondering what it might be like being born in an airplane. Though she didn't remember her own birth so maybe it wouldn't matter what it was like. "I have a brother too and sister, well sisters. Five to be exact, none of them were born while flying though." Melinoë explained, feeling like sharing a bit of herself with the girl in return and having finally gotten used to speaking English again.
