dancing with Teddy was actually fun. it was his last ball but it was probably the first time he felt like he had actually had a ball. When Teddy said he could ask a question, the words he wanted to ask somehow got lost between his brain and mouth, even if the idea was still there. it took him a moment to get the letters to form in the right order of his mouth. "I dont know how to ask this. it may be obvious. but i want to be sure. because I am pretty sure there is going to be questions from somewhere, and also I kind of want to know" he prefaced. " But what are we? Are we dating? Are we boyfriends? Are we just friends, and I am getting the total wrong idea. though i dont think just friends feels this, tingly." he said the words suddenly reappearing en masse from wherever they had been hiding. it seemed like such a silly thing to have to ask. but relationships didnt come with a handbook and he didnt want to be reading things wrong. maybe the dance floor was not the right place for this conversation but somehow the dancing and the music were distracting him enough that he wasnt overthinking things and was actually able to say it without second third and quadruple checking himself.

Teddy slowed down and eventually stopped dancing. He didn't really know what to say. It wasn't really a conversation to have while dancing, or on the dance floor. He pulled Hugo's hand to get him to the side, near where he had put the picture frame, and near Hugo's sister although Teddy didn't notice her. His focus was entirely on Hugo now. "I dunno." He answered as it wasn't something he could answer without Hugo's input, "It depends. Do you want to be my boyfriend?" He asked, one little question fired up so much in Teddy. He'd never asked anyone if they wanted to be his boyfriend before and it was kind of exciting, and a little nerve-racking until he had an answer.

Hugo saw the expression cross teddys face and realised that once again he was the master of bad timing. they were having so much fun dancing and he had to go and end it with a serious question. it seemed to be the way with Teddy. when he was with him just them he had fun, be it kissing or dancing or whatever else but they didnt really get the chance to talk without spoiling the fun before teddy had to run off to something else. and he didnt want to unterupt when he was focusing on something like study. as teddy led him off the dancefloor to where the picture frame thankfully still waited for them "Sorry, i didnt mean to spoil the evening, spoil the dancing. but i do want to know and i never know when is a good time to ask" he said looking down at the floor as he felt teddys eyes on him. at teddys reply the dunno made his shoulders sink. he knew this was all too good. but as teddy continued he looked up at teddy hope in his eyes. "Yes. yes i do. very much so." he said a smile spreading across his face as he blushed again. as he paused pulling his emotions back into control. "but only if you want me to be, do you want to be my boyfriend?" he asked nervous for the reply.

Teddy grinned when Hugo said he'd very much want to be his boyfriend and his heart did an excited flutter at the thought of Hugo actually being his first boyfriend. They'd had so much fun together at the Yule Ball tonight making it an easy decision, and kissing Hugo had already become Teddy's favourite activity over the last few weeks. Being boyfriends meant he could do way more of that too. "Yeah, I want to be your boyfriend." Teddy answered, shifting forward and putting his arms around Hugo, "I guess that makes us boyfriends." He said softly before leaning in to kiss his boyfriend.

hugo didnt think tht he would feel nervous about this. like was there really a question after the last few weeks, and the fact that they had both said thatthey liked each other earlier. but he was. this was the kind of thing that happened in those sappy movies his mum liked or in coming of age books. it wasntthe kind of thng that happened in real life. at least not to him. but there were the words spelled out on teddys lips. he wanted to be boyfriends. he let out an involunterry soind somewhere between a sigh of relive and a nervour laughter that had been building up which combined ended up sounding a little like a hiccough. as he put his arms around him and held him close lowering his head to rest against his shoulder. as he felt the words I guess that makes us boyfriends vibrate through im from every point that they touched.
he looked up 'I guess it does, boyfriend" he whispered before leaning in and kissing his boyfriend slowly and deeply savouring the moment.

The little hiccup sound Hugo made was ridiculously cute it made Teddy giggle as he leaned in for the kiss. Their lips met and it felt like the perfect moment. He could feel people staring but he didn't care, he let his eyes slip closed and just enjoy kissing his boyfriend.
