Marina had never been to a Christmas dance or whatever this was, but she was willing to give it a go just to see what all of the fuss was about. There was something about the kind of atmosphere that made her smile, and she wanted to see more of what that was like. She hadn't been entirely sure if Ares was going to say yes, and she probably wouldn't have bothered attending if he had said no. So she was pretty happy that he'd agreed, and even though she hadn't been sure what to wear to an event such as this she was happy with what she had. She looked around the room, noticing a lot of the decorations and finding them to be rather nice actually. But she didn't really know what a Yule was, so this was kind of a new thing for her. "Why do they call it a Yule ball do you think? We don't celebrate Yule." Maybe Ares would know, maybe he wouldn't, but it was a conversation starter she hoped.

@Ares Zephyr

At the same time he'd been told to get something for Halloween, Ares had also equipped himself for the Yule Ball. He knew from his older sisters it would be an annual thing, so he'd come prepared in a reasonably simple black suit. It didnt hide the fact however he still had remnants of scratches on his face, and bruises all over his body, although most of them were covered up with his latest outfit. He wasnt sure if Marina would notice or have heard what went down, although he was pretty sure she'd back up him up considering she was there when Freddie purposely tripped him while he was bobbing for apples, practically drowning him on school grounds. The Gryffindor gave her a puzzled look however when she asked about yule, "Yes we do." At least he was mostly certain. "Yule means Christmas, and that's what we're celebrating," he wasn't sure why there were two different words for it, "Yule tide.. Yule log. It's all the same," Ares shrugged, not thinking much of it. "Christmas Ball doesn't have the same ring to it, they're probably trying to sound distinguished."
