First Years Lesson Four

Mallory was looking forward to this class. This was undoubtedly one of Mallory's favorite lessons. She hummed as she set about the room, her hair carefully brushed and her soft blue robes swishing gently around her. When everything was ready, she took her seat at her desk, and with a dainty flick of her wrist, the doors opened. She smiled warmly as the students filed in. "Hello, everyone. Take your seats," she called, waiting until they were all seated before standing. "Welcome," she greeted warmly, bringing her hands together.

She motioned then to the mountains of pillows around her desk. "I trust you've noticed the newest addition to our class. No, we aren't building forts. We're learning a new spell!" She offered cheerily. "Accio. I trust you've all done your reading, so can anyone tell me what this spell is?" She looked around, pointing to a raised hand. "Very good!" She beamed. "Five points."

Mallory smiled, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Now, I'd like us to practice this. Be specific, now, or you may summon more pillows than you'd like. As always, the wording of your spells is crucial. Your wands are very powerful, and if you do not focus, if you do not concentrate your power, you can easily overwhelm yourself. I'm right here if you need anything, do not hesitate to ask if you would like my assistance."

She smiled, stepping back. "Everyone, I'd like you to practice summoning a cushion. At the end of the lesson, everyone, please take your cushion with you. A small reward for a spell well done. Off you are then." She returned to her desk, smiling, watchful to see if any students needed her attention before the class ended.

After last weeks Charms lesson, Chase was decidedly excited to attend this weeks lesson and practice the Accio charm that the Professor had mentioned the week before, and once again he somehow found himself running into the classroom early. He didn't mean for this to happen every week, and it certainly didn't happen with any other class, which was part of the reason he was always running places - well, that and he just enjoyed running around, which was probably why he was always running so quickly! He chuckled to himself as he greeted the professor, loudly, and then took his seat.

He listened intently as the professor spoke about Accio, the summoning charm, and became more and more excited as time went on to be able to try it out himself. Now that lessons were involving more and more practicality he was starting to become more excited than he already had been for each weeks lessons and eager to try out the different spells that each professor deigned to show them, and learn as much as he could before he left in 7 years time.

Chase got up when the professor asked them to summon a pillow, very excited about the prospect, and immediately pointed his wand around the classroom, summoning pillows at random and having differing amounts of success each time, chuckling to himself and cheering every time one of them nearly hit him in the head due to his poor aim. By the time the class ended he felt that he had a good understanding of the spell, and he thanked the professor as he headed towards the Great Hall to get some food.

Amias walked into the charms classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He nodded as the professor told them that they would be doing another spell, which he was pretty happy with. He nodded along as she told them about the spell, and told them how best to do the spell. He took his wand when they were allowed to and pointed it at the cushions before saying, ”Accio red cushion,” he said and it flew to him. He practiced it over and over, with him getting at first every other time and then eventually every time. With that he then packed up his things and left the room.
