When Hina had offhandedly mentioned to Bailey that she didn't know what else to study in preparation for applying for the Aurors, and that she wondered if the Restricted Section of the Library had anything to offer, she didn't quite expect her friend to just jump and declare that they would be going to see Professor Cade. It had nearly given Hina a whiplash even if she thought she probably should have expected such a response. The whole walk to the DADA Professor's office was spent with Hina trying to convince Bailey that they should put off asking for permission since Hina didn't really have an official-official reason to go there. Perhaps compiling first a list of topics she needed to research? Or perhaps asking the professor instead for what else she could research? But not now. Hina could barely string two words in class and it was... she didn't know if she'd become any better since the last time she'd gone to Professor Cade's office when she'd asked him if she had any chance joining the aurors. "B-Bailey!" she called after her friend to try and stop her one last time except her friend had already thrown the door open. Hinata blinked as they seemed to have interrupted a serious conversation between two professors going by the atmosphere in the room. "G-g-gomenasai!" she apologized quickly before shutting the door again. "W-we should just come back later." Or not. Preferably not. If she wanted to go to the Restricted Section maybe Tizi-nii would sneak her in anyway. Not that she'd ever ask. Or she could ask her own dad. Not that she would ask him either.

Bailey had always been a curious person, but for whatever reason, that curiosity had never extended to the restricted section of the library. It wasn’t until Hina suggested seeing what it had to offer prospective Aurors that Bailey realised they could just ask her dad to sign her permission. Bailey really hadn’t taken advantage of her father being a professor enough, and now with her mom at the school, there were double the possibilities. As soon as the idea had been implanted in her head, Bailey was gung-ho, so she dragged Hina straight to her father’s office and threw open the door. She wished she hadn’t. She walked into a tense atmosphere, it wasn’t the first time, but it hadn’t occurred to her that this was something she’d have to worry about at school. “Uhm,” Bailey closed the door for a second to compose herself before opening it again and sticking her hand through. “Dad, sign this.” She had been hoping he would just agree, but instead her father seemed to want more information. "I want to be an auror dad, so I want to go in the restricted section so I can read more about what I might face in the real world, no offence but your classes can't and don't cover everything, I want to know what the worst of the worst is so I can decide if I can handle it or not,"

James hadn’t thought much about his open-door policy and how it might need to change a little now that his wife was in the office across the way. He didn’t have a chance to make any changes before someone walked in while he was having a heated discussion with Geo, and of all the people to walk in, it was Bailey. She quickly closed the door, but after a moment, stuck her hand back in with a permission slip for him to sign. “What’s this?” He asked, taking the slip from her and eying it. “Restricted section? What do you want in the restricted section?" James asked, he needed more information before he could sign it even it was his own daughter. The last thing he wanted to come out of her mouth was that she wanted to be an auror. Why? There was a reason both he and Geo got out of the business, it was dangerous and wasn't a job conducive to a long and happy life. "You know what, sure," James took the slip and signed it. "There is some dark stuff in there so if you come out still wanting to be an auror, then you'll have my blessing,"

Hina watched as Bailey just stuck her hand through the small opening of the door, just slightly bit mortified since they'd already interrupted what seemed to be a discussion that they should not interrupt. "Baileeey," Hina tried to plead with her friend, pulling her by her free hand. It was all for naught though as Professor Cade made his way to the opening of the door, making Hina turn red all the way up to her ears. And then their permission slip was signed all too quickly and then the door was shut. "That's it?" she asked confusedly. She had been ready no, not really, to make her case on trying to find some useful things to prepare for getting into the aurors she really wasn't but it seemed like it wasn't needed at all. Huh. At least she still didn't have to tell her own dad about her career plans.
