Vex was bored and that's never really been a good thing as many of the residents of Hogwarts would know. When the Poltergiest was bored, bad things usually happened. Today, wasn't so bad, because the Poltergeist had made plans. He was going to be ever so helpful and move the staircases around so people could get to where they were going a little faster. It wasn't his fault he didn't know beings couldn't float through walls now was it? He watched in rapt attention as the students and Professors and caretakers of the school tried to get to their destinations, the stairs letting most of them through, until one came along every now and then and he took great pleasure out of sending them into a wall, because it was funny if they were late.

Jonah had been trying his best with his classes this semester, sadly some were going better than others. History was one class he was never sure how he was doing. And it was a scary class. It was just one of those classes that he had a professor that he didn't get along with but this one threatened to bury him so he'd been sort of focusing on History more than anything else that some of his other classes would often fall to the wayside. He was going down the stairs in a rush to go to his class whilst reading his textbook when he... bumped? Into a wall? What? He turned back around and... that was not where he had come from? Okay, he knew the stairs were moving earlier but why was he stuck on a wall? He didn't have time for this, they had a quiz in History he couldn't afford to miss. Well since there was no way down... he supposed back up was the way to go? Fine, he could try going up to... Is that the fifth floor?

Vex watched in invisibility as a young student, he had no idea how old and he didn't care frankly, seemed to be walking into the wall. "THROUGH THE WALL THROUGH THE WALL!" he chanted, because he was being helpful obviously! As the ... Hufflepuff? he assumed fromt he colour of his robes... turned back around, the stairs moved again, this time trapping him against another wall, and Vex broke into hysterical laughter.
“Through the wall, through the wall!
Step right in, don’t trip, don’t fall!
Ghostly hands will guide your way,
Unless the stairs decide to play!”

Jonah jumped in surprise when the Noisy Ghost from last year showed up again. He blinked up at it pretty sure that he was the culprit for this trouble. He had been about to run from it again when the stairs began to move again, and he yelped in response, hands gripping the banister tightly and trapping him in between two walls with no way out. He was going to be late for class. But more than that, he was trapped. "H-Help!" he called out, voice shaky. He wasn't scared of heights, he was a Quidditch Player after all. But what if the stairs fell? Surely the Noisy Ghost wouldn't make him fall?

Vex popped into the boy’s view, upside down, grinning widely from ear to ear. Help? Oh no no, little Hufflepuff - stairs only help the bold! This is why the poltergiest liked Gryffindors, they liked to try new things, this little yellow one was terribly boring. He zipped around him with a cackle, then stopped mere inches from the boys face. The stairs gave a tiny shudder, just enough to hopefully scare the little Hufflepuff into thinking he might fall through them. “Do a cartwheel and I’ll let you free, I’m terribly bored today!" He cackled as he thought of a fun little ditty.

"Cartwheel, twist, or tumble through,
Impress me, boy, or bid time adieu!
If you dawdle, if you stall-
You’ll be a portrait on the wall!”

William was heading to his next class with Eury when he swore he heard a familiar voice calling for help. Was that Jonah? What was happening? He followed the sound of his friends voice to find out what was happening and found Vex. Jonah seemed to be stuck on a staircase and Vex seemed to be having the time of his life making fun of him. “Oi ghost,” William tried to get as close as he could since there was no physical way to get onto the stairs that Jonah was stuck on, he was between a wall and a drop. “Wait here, I’ve no idea if this will actually work,” William got closer to the edge of the staircase that Jonah’s one would have broken off from. “Shoo,” William yelled again drawing his wand. What spells would work on a ghost?

Jonah jumped back in surprise when the Noisy Ghost was suddenly in his face. Why did he have to encounter this ghost so much? And at such lousy times too! And bold? He wasn't in Gryffindor. He would never be a Gryffindor. The Headmaster had already told him so. Was he gonna be trapped here forever because he wasn't a Gryffindor? He let out a very unmanly shriek as the stairs shuddered and he had to hold on to the banister for support. A cartwheel? On the stairs? When it could fall anytime? He could barely do a cartwheel on flat ground! Front tumbling might make him tumble down the stairs. Literally. Maybe he could do a backflip? He was better at those. Though he'd never done it without Hinata to watch him do it. And he hadn't done it in forever. He was seriously considering doing the backflip when he heard a familiar voice call out. "Will!" he yelled in relief, hand on the banister as he leaned to see his friend. "Help," he called out, nervousness slipping through his tone. He bit his lip, nearly fidgeting where he stood as he watched his friend try to drive off the ghost. Hopefully, the stairs would go back to normal once he'd left.

The corporeal nonbeing twirled in mid-air with a rather delighted shriek. “Ohoho! A rescue attempt! How quaint!” he chirped, swiveling in midair to spy the approaching Gryffindor - a new friend for Vexxie?. The poltergeist zipped through the air towards him in a blur of cackles, circling the boys head like a buzzing fly. “Shoo? Shoo?! Is that your spell, little lion cub? Going to swat me with your wand like I’m a moth?” Well he had another thing coming! He sipped tea from an invisible cup as he sat in the air. “You know, manners are the real magic.” He said, before cupping his hand at his mouth and singing,
“Cast a charm, swing and shout,
But ghosts like me don’t phase out!
If you want the stairs to spin,
Make your Hufflepuff do a flip and grin!”

He gave the new arrival a wink and then zipped back to the Hufflepuff, blowing puffs of air at his hair. “The offer still stands! Entertain me, or become stair décor!”

Ten was minding her own business, walking down from the common room when she heard the squeals of Vex. She hadn't come across him since he'd slimed her in the Great Hall over a year ago, but as she looked across the wide corridors, she spotted what it was, or rather who it was, that he was laughing at this time. It was the little Hufflepuff that had helped her brother when she'd grown his teeth. She hadn't seen much of him around the castle, but he looked terrified holding onto the side of the stairs as the poltergeist continued to taunt him. There was another student around trying to shoo him like one would Nugget, although Ten wasn't convinced that would do much. The fifth year came a little closer, walking up the steps toward the shoo boy. "I didn't know Vex could move the stairs," she commented, half to the Gryffindor. Ten watched to see what the Hufflepuff would do, and wondering how the poltergeist could get away with trapping students in the staircases.

"I DO WHAT I WANT!" He floated around the girl who just joined to let her know that she was noticed and he would be back. "STAIRS BE GONE!" He announced with as much bluster as he possibly could.

Jonah felt his stomach drop when the Noisy Ghost announced for the stairs to be gone. That he grabbed onto the banister, nearly hugging it just in case. "Heeeeelp," he cried out.

William watched in horror as the stairs vanished and now Jonah clung onto the banister for dear life. "Apparently he can do a lot of things," What could he do? He didn't know enough spells to intervene, did the older Gryffindor? He couldn't risk it, he needed someone to go up there and get him but who could...? "DAKREY!"

With a pop Dakrey appeared on the stairs next to Master William and looked up at the second year with the usual adoring look he reserved for all of the Cades...and Miss Eurydice who stood at Master William's side. "You called for me Master William?" William pointed to his Hufflepuff friend, currently clinging onto the banister due to the stairs vanishing and he immediately knew what to do. "Yes sir," With another pop Dakrey vanished and reappeared balancing on the banister right beside Jonah. Completely ignoring the presence of Vex. The nasty little poltergeist and the bane of every house elf. Dakrey reached down to grab a fistful of the Hufflepuff's robes, "Hang on Mr Jonah," He disapparated them both off the stairs and back down to Master William.

He didn't know what they were all so upset about. The stairs were still there, just not as visible as they had been before. He wasn't going to let the little hufflepuff fall, did they think him a monster? He huffed above them as they spoiled his fun and he flipped in the air. "YOU'VE RUINED VEXXIE'S FUN!" He exclaimed, creating rather a disturbance with a racket to loud he was sure it would wake the dead, or the ghosts.

Ten watched the scene unfold, and suddenly there was a house elf stood between them. It was a reminder that it wouldn’t be long until she’d be able to learn how to apparate herself, although from what she’d heard it wasn’t very pleasant. Once Jonah was back on the right side of the stairs, the fifth year sighed, removing her wand from her robes. She’d no idea if what she was about to do would even work, but given the racket the poltergeist was making all while everyone else was just trying to get to class, she figured it was worth a try. She pointed her wand at Vex, “Silencio.”

The poltergeist was about to shout more when the older Gryffindor raised her wand to him. He shrieked loudly as she fired a spell, he didn't know which one because he didn't care to learn wizarding spells, and as he was about to duck through a wall, he was hit squarely in the foot. He turned to tell her off only to realise he was now silent. He stared a her open mouthed before retreating in horror making sure to bang everything on the way.
