For the past 15-minutes or so Amory and Felix had been standing there. Levitating two full cups of water above each other's head, to see which one truly was better at focusing on spells. Technically if you lost focus and your spell ended you'd win by getting the other wet, but it was a question of pride. Which one could keep their focus aka be better at spells. "Your arm still fine, not getting tired there mi lord?" Amory grinned with the taunt. knowing full well his own arm was feeling awfully sore from aiming the wand at his best friend, but he couldn't really risk a single move in fear of his spell breaking and losing this battle of wills.

Felix knew this was less about who could hold their concentration and more who had the ability to keep their mouth shut the longest. If Felix was to tell Amory everything that was in his head right now, he’d lose focus and the Gryffindor would have to change his shirt again. “Nah. This is my strong arm,” he replied, hoping Amory believed it. He didn’t want to cover the boy in water and he didn’t want to give up first, but really he knew there was no way either of them were coming out of this with a win. He glanced at Amory, risking looking away from the cup for a moment, just to see if he could. The levitation charm didn’t require line of sight but it was certainly harder to keep visualising. “If you make my hair wet, you’re going to be on salon duty,” he told him. As he got older the curls weren’t quite as pronounced, but Felix had natural baby ringlets that required specific attention during hair wash day. He may have had much less hair than his sister but his upkeep was much heavier.

Amory almost laughed at the response, strong arm or not holding it up like that was rough. "If you say sooo.." He trailed off. Trying to keep his eyes on the cup when he felt Felix's on him was impossible so he risked the look and grinned even wider. "Aw you'd let me touch your beautiful, luscious locks mi lord? What an honour that would be." The Slytherin was having hard time focusing on the charm, but he couldn't and wouldn't lose this one. He'd rather get that water splashed on him than have Felix hold the loss over his head in the future.

Felix was grinning enough that his dimples were showing up on his cheeks. Sometimes his hair was a mess, but when looked after properly, it was true he did have luscious locks so Amory would have to treat it carefully. "Yeah just don't make me prove it," he didn't want to find out the hard way how good Amory was with conditioner. Talking to Amory was easy. Not that talking to his other friends was difficult, but with the Slytherin there was an air of casual simplicity, something that the Gryffindor was more than happy to be around in droves right now.

Amory kept his eyes on his best friend and grinned at his response. "Dang, it really has been a dream of mine to always help my best friend with his complicated hair routine. Maybe I should let the water spill just a little?" He taunted focusing back on the cup and making it tilt just a little bit, not enough to spill anything, because he wasn't losing this game.

Felix, because he did not have eyes in the top of his head, had no idea how badly Amory was taunting him. "You're not the only one who's got the power you know," he said, swaying his wand a little in the air, the cup moving from left to right above the Slytherin's head in an effort to scare him. "What do I win if I was to let this go, huh?" he grinned, steading himself again with the cup just a couple of inches away from Amory's black locks.

Amory rolled his eyes, of course the boy would try a similar trick on him. So original these Gryffindors. "Winning, winning, winning, always winning with you lions, isn't it?" He joked as though he himself wasn't aiming for the win here either. "Though since you asked I suppose seeing me soaking wet and costing me a trip to the salon should be a win enough?" Now his hair wasn't quite as curly as his best friends, but it still had some curl and bizazz to it. Plus if it was already wet might as well just wash it while the job was already halfway done.

"Of course it's about winning! We're not all happy being losers," Felix joked. Of course he didn't see Amory as a loser, but what good was it if you couldn't tease your best friend? He would rather see Amory soaking wet than himself, but he wasn't about to lose the game. Maybe soaking himself was the way to go, if it meant Amory broke focus. Sure, Felix would pay the price but at least he'd come out on top. "I kissed Tori." he told him outright. Felix's eyes were fixed on the cup above Amory's head as he braced for the wave.

Oh it was so on, the moment Felix had insinuated Amory was happy being a loser aka that he was one, he had lost the game. Amory kept his eyes on the cup, determined not to lose now more than before. His eyes widened at the confession of the Gryffindor and it was all he could do not to let the cup fall and spill, but somehow he managed it. Waiting a few beats he finally broke the silence. "Oh? How was it? Wait, aren't you like with... Esme... Her roommate?" Well damn, Felix got some game if he got both the roomies to kiss him, he'd never say that out loud though. Nah his ego was big enough as it was.

Felix didn't realise he was holding his breath until Amory started talking again. Whether that was because he was expecting to be judged or covered in water, perhaps both, he wasn't sure. Amory's first response however wasn't to judge him or tell him he'd done something wrong, he just wanted to know what it had been like. Felix hadn't told anyone what had happened because he didn't want them to look down on him, because he felt like he would have to explain himself and justify it, but Amory's reaction just told him he'd chosen the right person to confide in. "It was.. nice." He said, trying to recall it while not losing too much attention on the cup over Amory's head. He swallowed as he knew the judgement however could still be to come at the mention of Esme. "I, no." Honestly it was all such a mess he didn't even know how to explain it, "We were always together. But we weren't together together," Even Esme had admitted she wasn't his girlfriend. "She broke up with me after she heard about Tori."

Amory let his best friend gather his thoughts waiting for whatever may follow. His tone was uncertain and Amory didn't like that, but he also felt like if he looked to the boy's face things might turn awkward so he kept his eyes on the cup. "Well at least that's solved then, yeah?" I mean saved him having to do it and if they were always together but never together, were they ever truly together then? "How are you feeling about all this? Don't go turning all broken hearted on me, I didn't bring any tissues." The Slytherin attempted at a joke, the only thing he knew to do to try make Felix feel better about a sh*tty situation.

"Yeah," the second year shrugged it off, "I guess." It had been a strange limbo of uncertainty that had only grown more wild in time, so it was probably for the best. "The only way my face is getting wet is from your failings," Felix grinned, shoving any sort of heart felt emotion back down where it belonged. "I don't know what Tori thinks about it all," Felix had left out that Esme had also kissed Tori, because frankly it wasn't his position to say and it would just add more confusion. "But it's whatever. Esme wanted to leave so she's gone. Guess I'm free to do what I want now." Felix didn't know what it even was that he wanted, but at least he didn't have to worry about hurting anyone while he figured it out.

Amory grinned as the humour made its way back into the situation and his best friends voice gained that edge that only the grin he knew was now on his face gave it. Now if he were the type he might have said something encouraging to the likes of 'atta boy', but he wasn't so he settled for the simple version. "Glad to have your spark back Goldie locks," The second year grinned, entirely too amused with himself in the moment. "Yeah? Hear that?" Amory said and waited a beat. "That's the sound of freedom to do whatever you please mi lord." He stated proudly.

There was no end to Amory's teasing, but Felix would rather that than have him scold him for getting into such a messy situation with the girls. Honestly he was better off keeping a distance from the entirely with the rate he was going. "Yeah, just me and the boys," he did his best to wink at the Slytherin. "What about you anyway? Anyone you got your eye on right now? Look, you know I'm here for you if you need a wingman," Felix was clearly very good at the dating game and so he'd be happy to point the Slytherin in the right direction.

Amory let out a small laugh, not daring to do more than that. Amory tried to keep his face as nonchalant as he could when asked if he got his eye on anyone, did he? Well he supposed he sort of did, he had gone to the dance with Rose not so long ago. He liked spending time with her a lot, that had to count for something right? Even though there was the constant glares from her not so nice and welcoming family members. "I mean i suppose I do? Don't worry I won't be needing your services. I went to the Valentines dance with both your kisses roommate, Rose. Went to the Halloween feast too. She's nice and I do like spending time with her." Now Amory may not have kissed anyone but did it always have to involve that?

Apparently between them they were practically collecting Gryffindor girls. Amory seemed happy enough with his choice and if she tickled his boxes then Felix was happy for him. "Well that's good then," Felix said genuinely. It would mean he wouldn't be able to people watch with Amory at the school events, but that wouldn't stop him Amory-watching or finding something else to amuse himself with. "Come on you must be getting tired by now!" Felix's arm was aching and he was dying to switch hands, but wouldn't risk losing contact with his wand.

Amory gave a nod of thanks to Felix's genuine sounding words, but he was too focused on the cup to see if his face had the same genuinety to it but he didn't doubt it did. Not with Felix at least. "Nope my arm is perfectly fine. You sure yours is fine though?" The Slytherin taunted in turn. In truth his arm was aching, but he refused to give in.
