Second Years, Lesson Three

Josef looked up towards the door that opened with the second years who entered the classroom for today's lesson. He was going to teach them the Trip Jinx today and wanted to start as quickly as possible so that they would have enough time to practice it. Jinxes were not his favorites, and there were better jinxes to master, but he would teach them whatever they needed to learn. '' Hello and good morning, everyone,'' Professor Wolf said as his friendly brown eyes scanned the room.

'' Today we are going to review and practice the Trip Jinx. Now, the name is rather self-explanatory. It causes your target to lose their balance and trip, which can be useful in some situations.'' He then told them and suggested these students not mess with it.

''While the Trip Jinx sounds innocent, it can be quite dangerous if used inappropriately. Naturally, you have all been warned. Tripping someone as a prank can sound fun, but outside of pranks, the Trip Jinx should only ever be used in duels.'' He then told them, making sure everyone heard this. ''Let's jump straight into it, shall we? Find a partner and practice the Trip Jinx together.'' Josef then shared the incantation with the students and let them find partners among each other. He continued when it seemed that everyone had found someone to practice with. ''Once you have both successfully used the Trip Jinx on each other, I want you to use the Shield Charm as well to block the Trip Jinx. You may also cast the Jelly-Legs Jinx and the Stunning Spell if there's time for it.'' Josef walked around the classroom, like he always did, and kept an eye on the students and helped them in case needed.

Just roleplay the lesson!

Tori was surprised to walk into the classroom today and see a different professor. Perhaps Professor Waldgrave was sick? She didn’t really like him, maybe this professor could complete the whole semester? That would be nice, but probably unlikely. She sat in her spot with her arms crossed and remained wholly unimpressed when the professor introduced the lesson and the topic they would be covering. Another excuse to cast spells on each other? She sighed, this was why she was checking out Durmstrang. She clenched her jaw a little when he mentioned how useful the trip jinx could be and whilst she was sure that was true, that didn’t meant she wanted to be using it on her friends. It just felt like another way to humiliate someone - she didn’t like that magic was being used like this at all. When they were told to partner up, she immediately grabbed one of her friends. “Let’s make sure our shields are really good, yeah?” She said, not wanting to be the one to trip them.

Winnie walked into the defence against the dark arts classroom and took her usual spot in the room. She looked up at the professor and nodded as they would be doing a spell. She listened to the lecture that the professor gave and then got started the moment she could on practicing it. She paired up with someone else, and pointed her wand at him, wasting no time in being the one to cast the spell first. She smiled when she managed it and was pleased to block the spell when the other person cast it. Eventually the lesson was wrapped up and winnie packed up her things and left the room.
