Zoey has always striven for perfection even though no one has asked her to aim that high. Being the youngest in her family she has always felt like she's needed to hurry up catch up to her very impressive brothers. And it's not like her parents have small shoes to fit into either. She wants to get a "good grade" in everything she does and she doesn't handle things well if she's not good at new things right away. But underneath her perfectionist exterior she is a kind and loyal friend always ready with a pep talk if needed. She has a love of nature she gets from her parents and loves to watch things grow. While her family's constant relocating has been a huge stressor in her life she does love to go to new places and experience new things.

Zoey's parents met in school and were close friends throughout their time at Ilvermorny. After graduation they parted ways but always kept in contact as they started their adult life. While they never dated at school they always shared a fondness that turned to love as their jobs kept them running in the same circles. Eventually they decided to act on their feelings and they were married less than a year later. Their jobs as magiconversationalists kept them busy as they traveled all around North and South America doing research and other outreach work where ever they went. As they started their family they considered their nomadic lifestyle an exciting way to raise their kids. Their first son, Seth, was born in the jungles of Peru and their second, Alex, was welcomed while living in Canada. They thought their family was complete until Lily got pregnant one more time while her older boys were 10 and 7. Zoey was born while they were visiting family in California.
As the baby of the family Zoey was doted on quite a bit but as she got older she became very stubborn and refused to be treated differently. She hated to be left out of things just because she was little even if it was next to impossible for her to do the things she was being kept out of. But being so much younger it was hard for her to feel like she could compete with her older brothers when it came to physical activities or academics. And as her brothers grew up she felt even more left behind and eager to grow up and earn the same independence. She also started to resent their constant movement as a family since she kept having to put down new roots and make new friends so regularly. She also grew deeply jealous of her brothers as she saw them having more stable lives of their own. When they finally moved back to the United States and Zoey began at Ilvermorny she put her foot down and demanded she get to stay in one school until she graduated. Arguing that it would be good for her academically but really she craved the normalcy of staying in one place.
