**to take place after the yule ball**

Riley had made her way to the student lounge late that evening rather excited to get her party started. Well a get together, she didn't think it would get to the party stage or anything like that, she had only invited a few people and even though anyone could come she doubted many would. After the first few people had begun to arrive Riley turned the music on, to avoid any possible awkward coversations. She set her guitar down in the corner and looked around the room to see if any of her friends had arrived yet, who knows perhaps they would get into some karaoke if the moment called for it. Brushing down her dress Riley felt different, perhaps it was the sheer fact that she was wearing a dress, there had definately been a change in her since she had started dating Sam. She pored herself a drink and waited for more people to arrive to celebrare the summer solstice with her, that was what she had thrown the 'party' for afterall.

Alex wandered about the Slytherin Common Room, trying to get himself ready for the party soon. It would be a blast, in his opinion, and he couldn't wait to get it all underway. He wondered if there would be anybody else from around here coming. He spotted a girl sitting in one of the armchairs, one who really looked like she could use some fun. He walked over to her, and grinned. "You want to come to a party we're having tonight?" He asked, "It'll be a lot of fun." He said, smiling. He took her by the arm, and chuckled, "Just follow me." He said, walking off before she had time to stop him. He didn't really want to have to wait around, and he really couldn't be bothered to have some random deny him, so he dragged her along so she couldn't deny coming.

They approached the lounge, Alex having let go a few floors down trusting she wouldn't run for it. He hoped she would have an inquisitive side, that would want her to come and check out the party. Alex walked in, and walked off to scope off everything else. It was a well put together party, and there was meant to be quite a few people coming. Alex recognised a few faces, and he didn't know any of them as friends. He didn't even know the name of that girl he had pulled along with him. He would probably find her again later, that was if she actually stayed, anyway.

Isabella was enjoying a rather nice book on the armchair in the Slytherin common room, however when a boy's voice flooded the first year's ears, she did not have much time to react. Instead, she felt a hand upon her arm, a jerk off of the armchair leaving the good book to waste away on the floor, and being dragged out of the common room and outside. Her mind went frantic. "Hey, this is..." but her voice trailed off as Isabella also realized that she was speaking in her native tongue and he might not understand. She hated not being strong and she could not fight against his grip. Instead, she made her feet and legs work at the pace of his own to keep from falling flat on her face. However, when he released her, Isabella had half a mind to run back and leave. However, she was already out, so Isabella sighed and just followed. Why not go to a party? It sounded like fun. Perhaps this hogwarts kids knew how to have fun.

Upon entering the lounge, Isabella spotted no one she really knew. She glanced over at the boy that dragged her here, her blue eyes (because she had not taken out her contacts yet) blazing like gems but hardly looked frightening at all. She fixed her hair up into a ponytail and just hoped that there were others here with pajamas on like she was. Silk emerald pants and a black tank top, she was hardly decent in her opinion. Isabella crossed to the couch and plopped down. She was not invited, technically, and she didn't know anyone here. Though she would have to yell at that kid for interrupting her story once she caught her breath from attempting to keep up with the boy. Wonder if any morons would show up, thought Isabella distastefully. Then again, she was around older years, so this might not be a bad thing for herself.

Arianna was making herself attend this gathering. In her current state, a situation involving alot of people, who could include a certain person she was not happy with right now, was not one she looked forward to. She would much rather be curled up in her pyjamas. However this was Riley's thing, and she knew that she should attend for her friend. Vivienne might be there too, and she hadn't caught up with her other best friend properly in a long time. After the recent Yule Ball, she needed friends. Her stomach flipped a little as she was reminded yet again of that night. She had somehow thought that Austin was interested in her. Your judgment is way off she told herself, and walked down the Fourth floor corridor towards the Student Lounge which already was emitting a heavy bass. She had thought about bringing her guitar, but had decided against it, figuring people would want to have turns, and it might end up broken.

Arianna pulled at the hem of her shorts, as she came to the lounge. The heat of the New Zealand summer was wearing her out, and so she had dressed appropriately, her tom boy side ruling out a dress. Stepping into the room, she glanced around, immediatly weary of certain prefects. To her immense relief the only person she knew was Riley. She made her way over to her, smiling as she reached her "Nice party" she said, having to speak loudly over the music.

As more people began arriving Riley found herself lost in the ever expanding crowd, uncertain what to with herself. She busied herself pouring drinks until her eagle eyes spotted somebody she knew arrive. Running towards Arianna she embraced her and smiled eagerly. "I'm so glad you could come!" she said letting out a little giggle, "I don't know anyone here" she said over the music, leading Ari to a nearby couch so they could sit down and possibly have a chance of hearing eachother over the pounding bass and laughing teens. Riley hoped a few more people she knew would arrive so they could have some real fun, perhaps a few older ones, she wasn't exactly comfortable with the amount of younger students that seemed to be arriving.

Even though it was after curfew Riley shook those thoughts from her mind. No prefects would be here, so technically they couldn't get in trouble right? It was only meant to be a little get together anyway, that wasn't a crime, she was sure of that. "So, whats new with you and Austin?" she said nudging Ari in a playful way, it was odd that they seemed to talk about such girly things, must have been that they were turning into teenagers now, that was the only logical explanation. "I saw you two at the ball" she added, she had only briefly glimpsed them so she hoped something hadn't gone down she didn't know about.

Sidda had heard that there was a party going gown in the Student Lounge. She knew that it was after curfew but she didn't care - a party sounded like fun, and if there was good music, well....
She got dressed and raced down there, avoiding prefects and teachers on patrol. When she got there she heard the bass pumping and got excited. 'Oh yeah,' she thought to herself, 'this is what I'm talkin' about'. The room had quite a few students of all ages and houses there. She didn't recognise anyone except Ri, whom she'd hung out with last year. "Ri!" she called over the music. "This is awesome!" She went to stand by Ri, then noticed that she seemed to be talking to another girl, so she changed directions and went to get a drink, looking around for someone to talk to.

School was rather boring for Daisy, never really capturing her attention fully. Sure, being a Muggleborn, she enjoyed magic, and loved to learn.. but unfortunately, she was never the best at concentrating on one thing for long, and often got bored quickly. Her head was always in the clouds, or thinking about a more creative pursuit, such as art and photography, Daisy's two great loves. Anyway, when the tall blonde heard about a Summer Solstice party, she was there in a heartbeat. She was ever such the stereotypical wildchild, and parties were definitely something she enjoyed. Daisy didn't even know if this had been approved by a Professor or not, but quite frankly.. who fricken' cared?

She made no bother to change her clothes, as she thought her Doc Martens with the dress she was already wearing was absolutely fine. And besides, she was quite the tomboy, never really worrying about looks. Daisy danced through the shadowy Hogwarts halls, not scared one bit by the possibility of teachers, ghosts or anything sinister lurking in the darkness. She twirled playfully every few steps, and soon enough, she found herself arriving at the student lounge - location of the much appreciated party. Hopefully the other attendees wouldn't be a bunch of tossers, because after weeks of schoolwork and boredom, Daisy really wanted to have some fun. With a prance through the door, the Slytherin girl waited to see if she recognised anyone.

Luciano sat in his usual spot in the corner of the Common room, hidden by shadow and going unnoticed by most. Those that did see him lurking in the shadows gave him strange looks, which Luciano found rather amusing. He watched as a younger boy used some of the worst pick up lines he had ever heard, before dragging a first year off out of the Common room. This party sounded rather dumb already. If first years were crowding to it, it's main attraction must be balloon animals or something. Sounds interesting he thought to himself. In his current state of utter boredom, crashing a little kid's party sounded very amusing.

Luciano got up slowly, shoving his hands in his pockets, and exited the Common room after the pair. Not caring is it seemed as if he was stalking the younger two, he followed them up through the castle until he could hear music pounding from the floor above. It sounded like the terrible popular stuff that he couldn't stand. He climbed the last flight of stairs, before come to a halt in front of the door that people were now crowding into. He gestured for a tall blonde girl to go through the door first, before entering himself. He stood beside her, surveying the room with a brief sweep of his eyes. He had been right. Most that he could see were younger and incredibly exciteable, apart from two older looking girls sat on a couch. "Great party" he muttered sarcastically to the girl next to him.

Daisy looked over her shoulder as a boy a bit older than herself joined her. He muttered something, and the girl wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic or just joking, but she decided to go with the prior. Hey, he wasn't being that optimistic, but to be honest, she kind of agreed with him. "Hmm," Daisy nodded simply. I mean sure, the few people around her seemed to be having fun, but she didn't see anything incredibly exciting happening just yet. Maybe it would pick up later, right? After the crowd got bigger and everyone got a bit of firewhiskey in them. Wait, there was going to be alcohol here, right? No? Well, damn. I mean sure, Daisy could have fun anyway, but like I said, she wasn't the most rule-abiding girl around. "I'm not a big fan of this music.. old stuff's more my style," she continued, speaking as much to herself as she was to the guy beside her. Daisy didn't really care if he agreed, but she secretly hoped he did. There couldn't be anything more awkward than getting a reply like "But.. I picked it."

Arianna smiled more genuinely as Riley pulled her into a hug, though her responding hug was weak. She loved her friends, and was very thankful at that moment that she had great ones. "Neither do I" she said, glancing around to see two Slytherins at the door. A little red head First year came up and said hello, and Ari managed a smile "Hey Siddalee..." she said, trailing off as the girl made a bee-line for the drinks. The talkative first year was cute in her own little way, though somehow Arianna sensed that if she called her cute, she might get smacked. Turning her attention back to Riley, she let herself be pulled down onto the couch.

At Riley's next question she looked down at her knees, face burning "Really?" she said rhetorically, her tone unintentionally bitter. Riley obviously hadn't seen anything but a glimpse. She was silent for a couple of seconds, before looking back up "He's dating Taylor Mercer" she said finally, keeping the explanation as brief as possible. Why was it that when she seriously liked a guy, she always found out that they with another girl? Almost exactly the same thing had happened with Ares, and this pattern was really discouraging her from the opposite sex.

Luciano was surprised when the girl didn't contradict him and start insisting this party was the biggest event of the year. He looked her up and down, trying to guess her age. It had to be close to his own, considering her height. Her next comment made him raise his eyebrows slightly. She had good taste too "Oh but doesn't this pounding bass and screaming girl just set your soul on fire?" he asked, glancing at her with a face devoid of any emotion. If she could take a joke, then this girl wouldn't be bad to talk to. Luciano was of course being sarcastic, as the music was hurting his head slightly. Old music? He didn't even like music full stop. Pointless noise that attracted people with no talent, just wanting fame. He did not voice his thoughts however, as he surveyed the room once more.

Ostensia had heard some gossip in the Hufflepuff that there was going to be a party somewhere after curfew and she was immediately interested in coming along, it meant that there was a chance for her to get to know more people and get out to see the castle some more. Plus Ostensia loved parties! Once she had put on some appropriate clothing that would be okay for her to be seen in she left the Common Room and head off to the student lounge which was where the party was apparently being held. It took her a moment to find the darned place but once she did and walked into the room slowly and grinned. There were a few students that were already in the room and one of them happened to be her twin sister, it was odd to see Isabella out of her own and at a party without Ostensia at her side. "Hello Everyone!" Ostensia replied bubbly as she gave a curt wave and walked into the Lounge, her brand new boots clicking on the floor with every step she took. Her blue eyes sparkled with the thought of being out after curfew, she was not much of a rule breaker but every once and awhile a girl needed to have some fun right?

"Throwing a party was an awesome idea guys! Ostensia worked hard in her classes and behaved herself as best as she could during the rest of the school year but now that Exams were right around the corner she wanted a little adventure or fun to take away the stress the Exams were bringing her. Ostensia wondered whom to talk to her or get to know first, she could always sit next to her twin and see how she was doing but she wasn't sure if Isabella would want her to.

Riley immediately sensed something was wrong when she heard the tone that Arianna spoke with. When she spoke again she felt something lurch in her stomach, she felt so stupid, now she had made Ari even more upset. This was meant to be fun and she didn't want her friend to be upset. "Oh Ari" she said hugging her again, it was all she could think of to do, she'd never nursed a broken heart before. Gritting her teeth she thought of what Taylor had just done to her friend and vowed that if she did something like this again she would have Riley to answer to. "He's an idiot." she said quite simply, looking at Arianna. "But I'm sure he'll come around" she continued, trying to keep things positive.

As a few more people arrived Riley smiled at Arianna, "Come on, lets have some fun, meet some new people" she suggested, pulling Ari by the hand towards the door and the newcomers. "Nice to meet you" she said politely to a younger girl who looked about in her first year. She looked back at Arianna with an reassuring smile, Riley was going to make this a fun night and keep Arianna happy no matter what it took.

Sidda was standing over by the drinks and saw the other girl hug Ri, then they walked over to a girl that had just walked in. She guessed that they were done talking, and so walked over and nudged Ri. "Hey stranger. Have I met you? You look familiar," she teased, then turned to the other girl. "I'm Siddalee, by the way. Sick party, isn't it?" she stuck out her hand to be shaken, hoping that the girl wouldn't say something like 'Oh, I didn't realise that this was a party for younger students' or something like that. To be honest, Sidda didn't know what kind of age the party was for, but she was glad to have an opportunity to have some fun. She nodded to a blond girl who had just walked in and commented on the awesome party. "Hi," she replied.

Alex looked around the party, at all the people. He hadn't expected there to be this many people here. Though, they were welcome. He liked having an oppurtunity to make new friends, and this would be perfect for him. He started to wander around the room, taking a look at all of the different people, trying to see if any he knew were there. He passed by that girl a few times, the one he had dragged in here with him, and noticed that she did look a bit out of place. He chuckled to himself, and considered taking her back to the common room, once or twice, but he knew that would probably ruin the party.

Alex chuckled to himself, and looked around the room a little bit more. There really was nobody who he knew. He walked over to that Slytherin girl, and grinned. "You having fun?" He asked, hoping she wouldn't yell at him.. too much, anyway. Alex didn't like being yelled at, too much, anyway. He hoped that everyone in here wouldn't get busted by a teacher. He chuckled, and wondered what would happen to his chances at being Prefect if they did. "I'm Alex." He said, turning back to the girl.

Isabella took note that her sister had arrived, though the anger that she had felt before was nothing compare of that when that boy interrupted her from such a great read. Isabella no longer felt mad about being here in Hogwarts but she still wanted to be in Beauxbatons more than anything else. Her blue eyes were getting sore from the contacts, and she had no other choice but to take them out and put them away. Isabella dug into her pocket and brought out her purple contact case. With a few swift movements, her blue eyes had changed to their magenta color, and the blue was now locked in a fresh case of solution and tucked back in her pocket. It was all she could do to appear normal, but now that she was frustrated, she had no reason to keep the blue contacts in that were doing more harm than good in anyway.

The voice that she wished not to hear flowed in the first year’s ears. She glanced up uneasily, and she raised an eyebrow. Isabella bit her lip to keep from yelling, but she did scowl however, “I was having fun in the common room, if you must ask. But now, I am out after curfew, and if we get busted, I will have your head.” Isabella was in no way violent though, she had more bark than bite. That was it. Isabella sighed and realized that she did need to somewhat socialize at any cost. She patted the seat next to her, offering him a seat, and she murmured, “I’m Isabella.” She couldn’t say much else after that. Why say a last name or anything when he did not say his own himself? Though he must have noticed the sudden change in eye color. From blue to magenta. That was in no way normal at all. She wouldn’t explain that it was an accident however even if he asked. A simple lie would cover it. However, her eyes were a mirror to her emotions. It would be given away easily.

Her eyes averted from the boy named Alex and traveled elsewhere, all around the room. This was not her type of crowd. But then again, she rarely got out and was sociable. Her studies took up all her time, trying to be perfect and prove herself to the family. That was a task anyway. Isabella sighed a bit, and wondered if this would be her Hogwarts life. She would spend her nights and days studying, hardly talking to anyone and just trying to be perfect. It was a hard task, but she had to do it. Something in her made her be like this. Though perhaps that was because she was just trying to hard. But she was not trying hard enough to be friends with anyone. There was just so much this first year could and would do after all. Isabella crossed her legs and she waited for either Alex to join her or walk away. She was sure that he could have a better time talking to her twin. She was inferior to Isabella in everything, anyway. That was what this first year believed anyway.

Ostensia cocked her head to the side and stared carefully at each of the students who had decided to come to the party that she was attending now because it looked just that much fun to do. She was trying to pictures their ages carefully and most of them looked about her age but a few also looked older than she was right now. "Hey guys! I'm Ostensia! So um, why did you guys decide to host a party anyways?" Ostensia directed at the older Hufflepuff who happened to be the whole reason she was here anyways, she didn't know the girl well but she had seen her around enough to know that her name was Riley and that she was a few years older. Other than that she really knew no one else that well except for her sister Isabella who still looked a little lonely over on the couch, without another word she gave the two girls a soft smile then headed over to her sister. Ostensia greeted Isabella in Italian before her dark blue eyes fell over tot he boy her sister had been talking to, she had no idea who he was either.

"Hey Bella! Is anywhere else here worried that were going to get busted by a Professor or something?" She greeted her sister warmly but let her second question follow out to everyone else in the room. She loved parties but not at the expense of her getting into trouble and getting a detention her first year here. Suddenly Ostensia thought of something they could do once her question was answered, unless someone beat her to suggesting some sort of party game for them to play.
