Ariah had never been to the cliffs before, plenty of kids told her that it was fairly dangerous to be over here and such but curiosity was seriously getting to her and she just had to come and check this place out. "Psh, this place isn't dangerous at all." Ariah muttered to herself as she hopped from rock to rock happily, climbing and exploring places like this was so exciting that it almost killed her to have to be inside studying all the time. Ariah didn't have many friends because everyone seemed think she was a really weird girl, but she figured that was their loss if they didn't take the chance to get to know her first instead of just judging her based on what they've heard or seen. On top of that she recently discovered that she was in an arranged marriage based on trying to keep the bloodline pure, as horrible as the marriage itself sounded Ariah thought that Levi wasn't so bad, he was actually pretty cute when he was all angry.

"W-whoa!" Ariah nearly yelped as she tried to jump to another rock and just about missed because her jump was too short, but thankfully she managed to make it alive onto the other rock, with a sly smirk she looked down at the rock as if to mock it and rub in that she had made it over. With another small laugh she started hopping from rock to rock again, it was a little lonely all by herself, not to mention if she slipped and fell she would be done for, but this sure beat the hell out of studying or doing homework.

Charlie glared at the roof above his bed as his fingers lazily strummed cords on his guitar. He was bored. So bored he actually debated finding Taylor just to have someone to talk to. She was really the only person he associated with. He hardly classified her as a friend, she was merely someone that wouldn't turn him away. He guessed it was because he was her cousin and she felt like she had to talk to him. After Carmen, Charlie didn't see any point in making friends. He would only end up hurt in the end. He had known that all along, yet he let his heart overpower his head and look at how well that turned out. He vowed never to do such a thing again. Friends were for idiots.

However the dormitory was starting to look dull. Charlie needed a change of scenery before he went mental. Although it might have been too late to worry about his mental state. Regardless, Charlie slung his guitar over his back and walking quickly through the common room, slipped out in the Dungeon hallway. He considered heading for an empty corridor to play, but decided some fresh air would probably be good for him. Taking paths in which he could avoid people as much as possible, he ended up on the grounds and without thinking about it made his way to the Cliffs. It was against school rules to be there, so he figured not many students would choose to hang out there. Settling against a large rock, Charlie shifted his guitar to get comfortable. About to strum, he almost jumped out of his skin when he heard someone speak. He snapped his head around, but his view was hidden by the large rock he was leant against. So Charlie placed his guitar down, turned around and knelt up a bit, to notice a girl triumphantly look at a rock. Charlie guessed she had almost fell.

"That's a pretty stupid thing to do, given that you could fall and die like you almost just did." Charlie announced glumly, his voice scratchy from his lack of conversation as of late.

Ariah turned her head and grinned when someone addressed her and claimed that was she was doing was a fairly stupid thing to be doing, she loved it when people point out that she was doing something dangerous. "Stupid? Maybe so! But it's mad fun, you should try it!" Ariah laughed a little at the boy before she hoped onto another large rock, then another with ease. The boy that had spoken to her appeared to be alone and looked a little lonely, maybe playing around on the rocks could help him lighten up a little and have some fun. Turning around to look at him again she waved her hand, she totally didn't mind if he wanted to join and hang out some with her, she loved making new friends and meeting new people!

"My names Ariah Rowan! I remember seeing you at the meeting for the new Head oh House, but I don't know your name..sorry." From what she had remembered he had fallen down or something and was helped up by another Slytherin, but other than that she didn't remember all that much about him. He was one of those kids that she didn't see around all that much, but he didn't look that much older than her and everything, maybe he would want to be her friend too!

Charlie raised an eyebrow and watched as she jumped from rock to rock. He decided that it did look a little fun, but he wouldn't ever try it. Especially not around this girl who he suddenly recognised, but didn't know her name. Plus, he didn't really trust himself not to fall and go tumbling to his death.

Suddenly the girl started talking again and Charlie learnt that her name was Ariah. As she finished talking Charlie let his head fall forward onto the rock in front of him, thankful as he did so that it was reasonably smooth on the place his head had landed. So she had watched him fall on his butt in front of quite a few Slytherins. Brilliant. "It's Charlie Linus." He mumbled into the rock. He didn't quite know why he was talking to this girl, but somehow her energy just couldn't be ignored. "You're a third year Slytherin right?" Not for conversations sake, but simply to justify his curiosity of course. It also wouldn't hurt to use his voice for a bit, now that he had an opportunity in front him, right?

The boy let his head fall forward onto the rock in front of him, it almost seemed like Ariah had embarrassed him by point out that she had remembered that he had fallen on his butt in front of all those Slytherins. She thought it was sort of cute, she always had klutzy moments so it made her feel a bit better about always landing on the ground or looking like an idiot herself. "No worries, I'm just glad you aren't hurt or anything. I have klutzy moments all the time." Ariah snickered as she hopped down a rock to stand closer to the boy that she had been talking to, he seemed either a little shy or just not really wanting to have somebody around him right now. Hopefully that would all change if Ariah spoke to him a little bit longer, she believed that she was fairly good at getting people to open up to her without even really meaning too.

"Yeah I'm a third year, you are too right? Dude you look like you could use a hug..or some sugar." Ariah hopped down from the last rock she was on and landed on the ground without an accident and she was quite proud that for once she didn't hurt herself in front of someone she didn't know. Finally on the ground Ariah marveled at the fact that the boy had a guitar with him, she had seen one before but never really up this close. "Whoa you have a guitar!?" Ariah stepped a little closer and let her mint green eyes gaze up and down the string instrument with vague curiosity, could he play it really well or was he just learning how to play it?

When Ariah admitted she had her own klutzy moments, Charlie's spirits felt just that little bit lifted. At least she hadn't poked fun at him, it meant that he didn't have to get up yet and trek it back to the Dungeons. She was nice enough, even going as far as to say she was glad he wasn't hurt. Charlie guessed that he could tolerate her company enough to get the much desired fresh air he needed. Charlie lifted his head off the rock and nodded in confirmation that he was the same year and house as her. He watched her as she jumped off the rock, his expression indifferent. It was a nice change from the usual scowl that resided on his features. However, his face dropped at her next comment, although he couldn't find himself disagreeing with her. Instead he said nothing and turned around so his back was leaning against the rock again. He folded his legs beneath him and scratched the tip of his button nose.

Charlie reached for his guitar just as Ariah pointed it out. "Yeah." He said, unconsciously snatching it up and clutching it close to him. "It's my most prized possession." He felt obligated to say. He moved his fingers into several cords, but didn't strum. He couldn't play in front of other people, he never had and he doubted he ever would. Charlie peered up at Ariah's expression, "Do you play?" He asked, not at all aware that he was socialising.

When the boy nodded, Ariah was relived to see that she had correctly remembered his year. She tried to know everyone she could, especially those in her year because she figured they would all have to spend a number of years together before they Graduate from Hogwarts later on down the road. The boy turned his back so that he was leaning against the rock before he scratched the tip of his nose, she hoped she wasn't bothering him or anything. "I'm not bothering or creeping you out am I?" She was only a little lonely out here all by herself, even though if she had really felt that by herself a short trip inside to find Hilde, Alyssa, or maybe even Aleyha wouldn't be that hard of a task for her to do. Bothering Levi was out of the question, as much as she wanted to she was afraid that he may not like her like he used to anymore because she knew about everything, and overall this boy looked a little lonely right now.

The boy reached for his Guitar and held it close to him before he stated that it was his most prized possession, she couldn't blame him for seeming so protective over it. When he asked if she played the Guitar, a shy but still pretty smile crept to her lips. "Ha, I wish. I'm not really the musical learning type of person." Her mother had tried to get her to play and read music as a child but Ariah was never all that interested in learning. She loved to listen to it whenever she could, but she would rather go outside and play on rocks or plant Gardens before she even tried to learn how to play. "Can you play well? How long have you had the Guitar anyways?"Ariah asked suddenly growing interested, maybe if he was really good at playing and she asked him nicely he would play something on his Guitar for her. Perhaps Charlie wanted to be a rockstar or something when it grew up, Ariah couldn't really think of any other reason as to why someone would learn to play one of these difficult things.

Charlie considered her question. Was she bothering him or creeping him out? His mind immediately answered no. He actually found her company rather enjoyable. He hadn't spoken to someone new in so long and this girl seemed genuinely interested in what Charlie had to say. After he thought about it a bit more, he reasoned that she was a Slytherin and Slytherins couldn't really be trusted. He had thought Carmen was the best thing that could have happened to him, but deep down she only wanted what she thought was the best and a mudblood like Charlie couldn't compare to Kaleb, who Charlie knew continued to feed her lies about what kind of a person Charlie was. He couldn't even look at Carmen nowadays let alone talk to her.

Would all of this make Ariah the same? Charlie looked up at her, she was practically buzzing with friendly energy. Charlie had never seen that within Carmen. If Charlie answered 'yes, you are bothering me' odds are Ariah would leave. He could be alone. But he had been alone for so long, that he didn't want that. At least for a little while he wanted the company Ariah was giving him."No," Charlie found himself saying, "it would take a lot more to creep me out."

Charlie shrugged his shoulders when Ariah admitted she wasn't really a musical learning type of person. Charlie guessed a lot of people weren't. He personally didn't know how to live without music. It definitely kept him sane during most of his life. It was his escape from the world around him. "I guess I can play decently. I've had my guitar since I was eight and have been teaching myself to play since then." Charlie admitted. He couldn't really be the judge of how well he could play, but he did think he was reasonably good at it.

Ariah grinned when he said that she wasn't creeping him out, at least it took a lot to creep him out because Ariah did a lot of weird things at the most random times. "YAY! Were totally gonna be such good friends now!" She jumped up and how happily, if he were standing and not holding that nice looking guitar she would totally run and hug the life out of that boy, she loved having new friends because it always made her feel way less alone then she used to be when she attending school at Durmstrang when she didn't have any friends. Even as he said that thought the poor boy looked like he was deep in thought, which made her stop bouncing and stare at him curiously with widened mint green eyes. "I've always seen you alone, do you not like having people around you?" Her face was soft and she kept her voice a bit quieter, it wasn't exactly something she should be saying out loud to embarrass him but he seemed like he was a bit of a loner or someone who just didn't have many friends, it made her feel a bit upset at herself for not realizing it sooner so she could have tried being his friend sooner.

"Wow, then you have to be good. You should play me something sometime....or teach me how to play, it looks like fun!" Her uncle had played the Guitar for her and her family a few times before but after he stopped showing up she wasn't able to hear him play anymore. So it had been years since she had last heard someone play and she wanted to hear Charlie play something, or maybe if he taught her to play she could play him something instead.

Ariah's exclamation and jumping took Charlie off guard. He blinked at her, wondering if what she had said was a good or a bad thing. He had just told himself that friends were for idiots that willingly put themselves in positions to get hurt. But Ariah didn't seem like the kind of person that would hurt anyone. Charlie made himself a deal in his own mind. He wouldn't let Ariah all the way in. He would keep his guard up. That was the mistake he made last time. He let his guard down for Carmen. But as long as he kept a distance, even a small one, he wouldn't get hurt. "Yeah, I guess so." He said, happy with the arrangement he had made with himself.

Charlie watched her change of expression and had to lower his deep blue eyes when he was met with her green ones. Charlie felt like they were scanning him and it made him feel uncomfortable. "Yeah, I er, prefer-" the Slytherin boy cleared his throat, "-to be alone." He said the last part softly, fiddling with one of his wristbands as a distraction. "I don't really see you around that often. What do you do? Apart from, you know, jumping on rocks." He asked awkwardly, but quickly, trying to get the subject off of his lack of friends. He had at least spoken what was mostly the truth. He did like to be alone. When he was at home, he didn't want to deal with his parents, so he sheltered himself in his room. Charlie guessed he was just used to being alone now.

"Yeah, maybe." Charlie admitted with a shrug. He wasn't sure how much he meant those words, but he didn't want to dampen Ariah's spirits. He concluded that he must have been in a pretty good mood that day to be careful about hurting someone's feelings. "I'm not sure how great I'll be as a teacher though." He mumbled, looking up at Ariah.

Even if Charlie looked a little caught off guard, Ariah didn't mind so much because she did that to a lot of people with how forward she was when she first met someone new. Still he agreed that he could be her friend and that immediately made her day on so many levels, she could barely describe it! "You have just made my day really awesome. A lot of people here don't like me so I don't have many friends." At least in the Slytherin house she was pretty disliked because of her friendliness and how well she accepted others even if they were a little different from everyone else. Even if she was really sweet, there was always a bitter hatred and sly side to Ariah that apparently that awesome talking hat picked up on while she was being sorted on her first day here. The few friends that she had right now were going to be very dear to her no matter what, right now she needed more them ever because growing up without some all her life was getting a bit old.

"Erm, well I can leave you alone if you want me to." Her smile was still there and she didn't look like she was the least bit bothered by him wanting her to leave him alone. She realized she could be highly annoying at times especially with people who were shy and not very used to being around super happy or bubbly people. Quickly her thoughts were forgotten when Charlie stated that he hadn't seen her around that often then followed by asking what else she did aside from jumping on rocks, he definitely did not get out that much if he didn't see her around that much because she was everywhere. "Eh, I did just transfer this year from Durmstrang. I'm usually outside though. Erm..well I really like doing stuff outside like planting, taking naps, exploring, other than that I don't really do anything that cool." Although she was always outside, like getting dirty at times, and lived in a whole of nothing but males, Ariah had never really been all that much of a tomboy. She liked flowers, cute clothes, and the same thing that most girls liked, Her interests were simple and nothing to great to go on about, but she liked them and figured that was really all that mattered about it.

"Wow thanks! I've never told anyone this but I'm pretty good at singing." Ariah stepped over to hit until she was fairly close to him, then she sat herself down and smiled at him softly, her eyes were still fixed carefully on his guitar. The instrument looked confusing to the point where Ariah figured that she would probably never be good at it even if she practiced with it all the time.

Charlie stared at her, although his gaze had softened. He realised he stared at people a lot. He didn't really think about it being an impolite thing. He just had nothing to say, so he would stare. Charlie took in Ariah's words and felt an unwelcome emotion creep inside him. Maybe it was the fact that no one had said that Charlie had made their day in a long time, perhaps ever. Had Carmen said it? Charlie had programmed his mind to not think about the Slytherin girl so much that he couldn't even remember any more. He could only remember the feelings from that period in his life. The joy, the hatred, the adoration and the hurt. Nevertheless, a pleasant feeling welled up inside Charlie and as much as he didn't want it being there, he sort of liked the knowledge that he was connected with someone again. Charlie's lips twitched into a small smile, but it stayed for such a short time, if Ariah had blinked she would have missed it. "At least that's something we have in common. People don't really like me either." He admitted in a mumble.

Charlie shook his head. No, he didn't want Ariah to leave him alone. He was in a good mood today, so he decided he had better use it to his advantage. It was a feat for Charlie not to get grumpy with someone who was obviously so not grumpy. Usually Charlie brought everyone else down, but today he was letting Ariah brighten him up. "That explains it then." He pointed out. "I'm never outside." Charlie confessed, although soon found an obvious problem with his statement, "Not including today. I sort of just felt like being outside today." The Slytherin boy corrected.

Charlie raised his eyebrows when Ariah said she could sing, Charlie liked to sing on very rare occasions. He didn't think he had a horrible voice, although it wasn't the best. Charlie was suddenly curious as to what Ariah's singing voice was like, but he would never admit that. Instead he watched Ariah take a seat beside him, both confused and relatively pleased by the fact that he didn't mind Ariah's company at all.

It seemed like Ariah's plan to get Charlie to soften up and relax a little around her had worked just like she was hoping it would, it seemed like she still had her rare ability to get people to open up to her fairly quickly. Her father said it wasn't an ability though and attempt to just call it Charisma, but Ariah still figured it was like a super secret ability no matter what her father told her. Thinking that she had caused the boy's lips twitch into a small smile she silently congratulated herself and gave him a soft grin. "How can people not like you though? Your like way awesome! I think the reason that people around here hate me is really stupid." Her smile disappeared into a small frown as she thought about all the nasty names she was called whenever someone who didn't like her was around. Ariah didn't seen any faults in Charlie other than the fact that he was a little quiet, but that was nothing to hate about him because quiet people were just as interesting as the loud ones were, people around here just obviously had sticks up their butts or something because they just acted like a bunch of big babies about everything.

"You should go outside more Charlie, it's healthy to be outdoors and you look like you could use some sun." Ariah reached over and softly attempt to poke his cheek to point out his pale colored skin, at least compared to hers she thought it was a little pale looking. Ariah was always outside so she usually had a fairly nice tan year round. Then again she also hated being indoors all the time so maybe thats why she couldn't see how someone could spend all their time indoors, even on rainy and stormy days she refused to stay inside all day or she'd probably go a little mad sitting on her Dorm Room or in the Great Hall. "How about this, you can totally go for a walk with me anytime you want." She took daily walks so maybe if she offered he'd take it and maybe go on a few with her sometime. Charlie didn't seem to mind her being next to him right now so a walk couldn't be that bad for him, then again maybe he was like Theodore and Levi and happened to be lazy beyond all belief.

Charlie shrugged at Ariah's question. He didn't really know the reason why people didn't like him. He guessed it was because if they were in Slytherin the usually wouldn't talk to him because of what they had heard in the Gossip Magazine. And everyone else was probably because Charlie wasn't used to socialising at all, hence when he did, he failed at it, was extremely rude or simply couldn't talk to them at all. It explained why he was able to talk to Ariah so easily. She asked questions to help the conversation along, she was bubbly enough for both of them and simply too full of friendliness for Charlie to be mean to, and she talked enough for both of them. "What is the reason for people hating you?" He asked, understanding why people wouldn't like him, but not having a clue as to how people could hate Ariah.

Charlie scrunched his eyes shut when Ariah poked his cheek. He knew he was pale, but he wasn't a huge fan of the outdoors. Opening his eyes again, he gave Ariah a small glare, but there was no anger behind it. He wasn't particularly fond of people touching him, but he couldn't find it in him to properly glare at the cheerful girl. At her offer Charlie shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe." He said, not deciding whether it meant yes or no. Perhaps in time he would come to like to outdoors and he would go for a few walks with Ariah, but in the meantime, he preferred being inside.

Ariah was amazed and shocked at the same time that Charlie didn't seem to know why people hated her so much, this kid was truly like a best friend of her dreams so far. Well if you minus the fact that he wasn't a girl and probably wouldn't look good with curls in his hair, but still he was one of those kids that Ariah felt really comfortable with and there were very few people in the world she had gotten that close to yet and actually wanted to open up to without question. So far that was Hilde, partially Aleyha, and for some reason Leviathan was really easy for her to talk to as well, even if he could be a jerk at times. Charlie would make it the forth if the rest of their conversation went as well as if had been going, then again when she told him why people hated her he might change his mind. "Well, for once I'm a Slytherin but I'm really nice. And second because I'm a pure-blood who likes and accepts muggle-borns, muggles, and all of them." she stated quietly as she tucked her kegs in and rested her chin on her knee lazily, she didn't understand why people got so upset about that but they did she was made fun of constantly for it. On top of all of this she was in an arranged marriage with a pure blood supremist that seemed a little protective, which she thought was adorable all the same. Ariah refused to let them hurt Charlie though, she didn't know his blood but hopefully they didn't get the wrong impression of them being friends.

"Or I'll just keep you company inside. Maybe I'll buy a guitar or something so I can play too." She tried to think of something that would be fun for him too, he still seemed like an indoor guy and she didn't want to feel like this was all about her. His glare at her made her blush a little and shrug her shoulders shyly at him, almost as if she were apologizing to him for being a pain in the butt for him right now.

[I know it's late, but I had to finish it. :p ]

Charlie listened to Ariah's reasoning and the first part didn't seem to make much sense. Were house divisions really that bad that you had to mean just to be accepted in Slytherin? What was wrong with a nice person? Sure, Charlie wasn't the nicest person in the world, but he stayed away from people to avoid being mean to them. He hadn't really met anyone else in Slytherin that was nice apart from Ariah, but it still made very little sense that she would be hated for being nice.

The second part though made Charlie swallow. She was a pure-blood? He suddenly felt as though someone would jump out from behind a rock and demand he get away from Ariah in that second. It was a curious feeling, but after so much abuse from being a mudblood in Slytherin he really couldn't help his irrational thoughts. However, Ariah had said she accepted them. It didn't matter to her. The thought also put Charlie more at ease with their friendship, or whatever they had. "I still think that's a really stupid reason for people to hate you." Charlie said, although he knew in a way he was wrong. The second part definitely gave people a reason to hate her, especially if those people were haters of muggleborns themselves. It was a harsh world in the wizarding side of things and Charlie guessed a lot of it would never made sense.

Standing up, Charlie slung his guitar around his back. "That would be okay." Charlie said with a nod. He actually didn't mind the idea. "Well I think I've had enough sunshine for today." He said jokingly. "I'll see you around." The Slytherin boy promised. He felt satisfied by the day, but his fingers were starting to itch to play his guitar and although he found Ariah's company nice, he refused to play in front of her. "Don't fall off any rocks." He said, a small smile reaching his face as he waved and headed back to the castle.
