There was a thing about medicine. It had its way of winding into all aspects of your life being a doctor, being a healer wasn’t the kind of job you left at the doors of the hospital at the end of the shift. It had its way of claiming an entire part of your identity so that you didn’t feel complete without it. As a child, on the occurrences her parents shifts meant they had dinner together as a family, often talked about work. About interesting patients. Staff and hospital politics. It had been both fascinating and slightly annoying, why didn’t they have anything else to talk about. Now as an adult herself she found she and Ty slipping into the same patterns of conversation. Half split between work and what Fiona and Evan had been up to. This morning Ty had been running late as they had both been awake during the night comforting a teething Evan. man’s she had called to the retreating back of her husband that she would drop lunch over to him as they hadn’t had time to make it. Plus she was well overdue a visit to Pia as she had promised her awful at baby updates and one of her former patients had just given birth so she could call in and say hello. so here she was pram with baby and toddler riding on the back and bag with food underneath on a day tip to the hospital.
they reached the paediatric ward and Rhiannon already felt at home. Fi ran off towards the playroom a room she had probably spent more time than most kids ever should before she knocked on the door to the healers office.
