A Brief History: Varvara was born in the
Netherlands to Embla and Körbl (Korbinian)
Peeters. She is an only child, though her
mother and father did try to give her a sibling.
Embla Peeters suffered no less than three
miscarriages, which eventually drove Körbl
to alcoholism. Korbinian Peeters became a
withdrawn and deeply depressed man,
seeking only the company of his cat, Lucas.
Embla continued to care for her husband
and daughter. By the time Varvara was
fourteen, her father had become very ill
and could no longer earn a living. He ended
up in a wizarding hospital, though he is still
alive and making a very slow, but gradual
recovery.

Varvara had enjoyed Durmstrang, but with
the difficulties at home, began to push away
all her friends. For a period of time, she
became a troublemaker and got into several
fights, also 'toughening up' her image with
false tattoos, piercings, and bright hair in
dreadlocks. Only one or two friends remained
in her life, though she soon lost contact.
By the time she had finished her wizarding
education, Varvara had found herself alone.
She had, by miracle, 'got her act together'
and had scooped a decent set of N.E.W.Ts.
Deciding that she couldn't stay at home for
much longer, Varvara decided to make a fresh
break for New Zealand, a place that she had
heard had a thriving and welcoming wizarding
community. She managed to afford a flat-share
with two other witches and a wizard.
