On an everyday basis Valente opts for simple clothing in blues, greys, browns and greens, and he likes to dress neat but still keeping things casual. He often wears chinos and a good quality polo, t-shirt or sweater and favours soft fabrics and textures. He tends to go with loafers as his shoe choice, choosing casual loafers for everyday and of course more formal loafers for formal occasions. For formal occasions Valente likes to stick with a crisp button up shirt and blue dress pants and blazers, and he likes to keep his accessories simple. Valente also has an interest in biology and various other sciences as a side effect of his interest in archeology and he likes to read books about biology and botany in his spare time. Valente also has an interest in the history of magic, both in the sense of historical magic that was used and also in historical magical figures. He loves to learn about magic in the past and to understand the ways in which magical folk lived historically before there were written records and he is always seeking out new books on the subject to expand his understanding and knowledge of it. Another interest of Valente in turn with this is his interest in ancient runes, and their place and meaning in the scope of magical history. Lastly, Valente also has a minor interest in traveling and seeing the world as well, as he has traveled quite a bit as part of his career and he always finds it interesting to experience the culture of new and different places around the world.

Valente and Daniel Jackson have similar backgrounds in the sense they are both archeologists, and also in the sense of their personalities and values as similar to Daniel, due to their sense of justice and what is right, and also with their sense of impatience as Valente is constantly working towards the future and moving forward, even if it is not entirely necessary. Valente similarly is often a voice of reason and tends to stay calm in most situations, even if his reasoning might not always be correct. Valente also has a strong sense of mental will and is passionate about constantly learning and teaching others.

EARLY YEARS
Valente was born on September 12, 2014 to parents Pedro and Mary Espinosa. He was the first of the third generation of his family to be born in the United states and from a young age his parents raised him to know of his Mexican heritage and spoke both English and Spanish in his home, and he grew up incredibly proud of this. Valente was always idealistic, wanting to do the right thing by himself and his family, and he was always eager to learn and explore the world around him. As each of his siblings were born he soon began to learn to be a leader and teach his younger brothers and sisters, reading to them so they also learned and of course helping his parents take care of them. It was in his early years that Valente realised he loved teaching others and loved retelling stories of adventures to faraway lands he had read in all of his books to his younger siblings. He loved when his mother would teach him at home and tried to help his siblings learn as well, and he loved learning about the history of man and different myths in ancient civilizations. He loved the mysteries of the ancient world and what it all meant for people who were magical, and he had various different books on ancient civilizations he would re-read over and over as he grew up, even if he couldn't entirely understand the books he was reading. It was no surprise to his family that Valente was entirely excited and eager to begin his magical schooling at Ilvermorny when he became of age, and he left home to start his time at school feeling as if he was starting a new adventure of his own.
SCHOOL YEARS
Valente wasn't as much nervous to start his magical schooling as he was completely overcome with excitement and energy to finally learn magic. He had learned a bit about the Ilvermorny houses from his parents and the houses they had been sorted into but still did not have an idea of which house he would be placed in himself. In retrospect it should have been obvious that he would be placed in Horned Serpent, the house of scholars, but in the moment Valente was just happy to start his time at school. Valente dove into each of his subjects, spending his first few years at school entirely focused on learning. He spent most of his spare time in the library and through this befriended the other students in his year and a few of the older students that also spent their free time in the library, and he loved that he had a group of people to study with. Valente had excellent grades in his first few years of school especially, and his parents were incredibly proud of him for working so hard.

Valente after graduating, dove into academics and research, finding a place as an assistant, to an assistant, to a research assistant for a member of MACUSA that studied within the field finding and dating historical magical artifacts. It was there that Valente began his career as an archeologist and began to learn more about the field and the politics of it outside of the history he had read about in books while he was at school. Valente learned about ethics in archeology at this time as well and his idealism drew him to this subject more than any other, as he learned about the history of archeology itself and what it meant for different museums around the world. He realised he had a passion for returning historical artifacts to their countries of origin and changing the field of archeology to be more respectful and right the wrongs of the past, even if his superiors at the time did not fully agree with him, and he spent his time running errands instead of studying like he wanted to.
After a couple of years, Valente had saved enough money to move out of his family's home and rent a shoe box apartment in New York, where he worked hard to gain a better foothold in his career. As he was still an assistant to an assistant, and continued to be given menial tasks in the fielf rather than truly participating and creating his own finding and as a result he had begun to grow frustrated at his lack of progress, and feeling that he was being held back and not able to contribute to the projects he was on the sidelines of. Due to this, and despite his passion for archeology Valente began to distance himself from his work, and it was at this time that for the first time in his life he had an interest in dating. In school, romance was hardly on Valente's mind and he hadn't had a crush on anyone he knew or any interest in the people he knew as more than a friend, but upon one of his many administration tasks at MACUSA he had managed to meet a political intern that was his age who had entirely enamored him. Valente was taken back by the man's confidence border lining on arrogance and could and absolutely did spend hours listening to the man denote his career ambitions and goals for the magical world.
The man and spending time with him had become Valente's distraction from his growing disdain for his job and he reveled in it. He even considered himself to be in love with the man after a few months, even if the man didn't completely return his feelings and never wanted to put a label on their relationship. In saying this, the relationship itself ended almost as quickly as it started but Valente wasn't entirely heartbroken by it as he was thankful to have the experience as it allowed him to draw the conclusion he was gay, something he was entirely proud of even if his parents hadn't fully agreed when he told them. Valente in the past had some questions about whether he was interested in dating at all but this experience had lead him to realise he was interested in dating and romance, and he was happy with this.
After leaving the 'relationship' with the intern, Valente quit his job at MACUSA as he felt his career was going nowhere there, and soon found various freelance archeology jobs throughout the United States, as Valente wanted to get as much experience as he could in the field to eventually start his own projects. Throughout the years Valente dated here and there as well but had never gotten into a serious relationship lasting longer than a few months at a time, as his work was always his priority and he was often moving between different locations. He spent the rest of his twenties and the start of his thirties simply working in the field and trying to make a name for himself in archeology and trying to put forward his ideals, both by traveling to different parts of the United States and South America, and in this sense he did over time begin to further his career. He had progressed to the point of working in more research and working with a few museums as a liaison for returning artifacts to their countries of origin and providing proper respect and care when dealing with historical artifacts from different cultures. In the years since he has worked with various museums on the research side of archeology and has worked with many different benefactors.
As Valente entered his forties, he was still focusing on work as his main priority, even if his parents had been pestering him for a few years to settle down and start a family. Valente never really saw himself starting a family and only really working for his entire life, and this hadn't changed as he had grown older, or at least he had felt that way until he began to work with Emery Elwood. The pair had met on a project together and quickly grown close over their mutual passion for academics and research. They hit it off with Valente feeling like their meeting was a meeting of their minds and kindred spirits as they seemed to be so in tune with each other. It was an entirely welcomed development when Valente and Emery started dating, and their relationship was one Valente considered to be his first serious relationship, and a year or so into it he felt that maybe he wanted even get married. He was heartbroken after spending a couple of years in a relationship with Emery when they broke up, and due to the fact they were both living together and continued to work on various projects as they were research partners he often finds himself feeling awkward and out of place.
