It was early saturday morning, and Ellie had awoken to see herself in the mirror, red eyed, blotchy faced and genreally a right mess. Harriet Turner, her best friend, had left the school the night before for un-explained reasons. Ellie had been crying all night. She had lost her best friend, like she had lost her mum, although hopefully she would see Harri again. Not up for breakfast in a noisy hall, Ellie walked straight passed the Great Hall and out into the grounds, heading for her favorite place, the Lakefront. The sun was just rising, the air was fresh and the grass was wet with dew and rain from the night before. Sitting down at the edge of the water, Ellie looked down at it, watching small waves overlap the large rocks at the edge, waching the sun reflect off it, shimmering. A single tear ran down her cheek as she thought of all the times her and Harri had spent together. So many of them. They had been best friends sice there very first days at Hogwarts! They had laughed together through the good times, cried together through the bad, and been there for each other through it all. Thinking about everything made Ellie want to just return to her dark dorm room and sit with her head in her hands. Why did Harri leave? She kept going on and on about how she really couldn't stay and how she had to go home. There must be something really bad happening there for Harri to leave urgently. Ellie was worried about her, really worried. She could tell by the look in Harri's eyes something was wrong, very wrong. She had left in an upset hurry, and Ellie now felt bad for she hadn't been able to say goodbye and after a final hug had run off. Pulling her knees up under her chin, she sat her head in them and closed her eyes.
