Hair: Dark brown, almost black. He doesn't like to cut it, and growing it long is a tiny act of rebellion towards his family. He often wears hair clips to keep his hair out of his face.

Build: Small, pointy elbows. Always manages to look uncomfortable, and sits as though he's being prodded in the back by invisible fingers.
Style: Typical wizard fashion, with embroidery he does himself. Teddy is extremely curious about muggle clothing, but is forbidden from wearing it at home.
Other Distinguishing features: Teddy is fairly androgynous in appearance and can easily mistaken for a girl, especially when his hair is long. He doesn't mind this at all and would like to experiment more with fashion, but is too shy. He takes a lot of care in his appearance and always tries to look neat.

Teddy suffers from fibromyalgia, and is currently undiagnosed but will need to seek help when symptoms worsen. Personality: Teddy is a quiet and reserved boy who can initially appear cold when he's trying to be polite, but warms up quickly to those who engage with him and he is very affectionate towards people he cares about. Teddy frequently overthinks to the point of stressing himself out and finds it difficult to break out of his wallowing. History: Teddy comes from a wealthy wizarding family and lived between Japan and Wales as a child as his parents travelled, but his parents split up when he was eight years old, and his mother relocated to New Zealand with him. He has three older siblings who attend Hogwarts in Scotland, all of which are in Slytherin house. Teddy isn't very close to them. Teddy's father is a Japanese wizard and runs a successful perfume business around the world. His mother is a Welsh muggleborn witch who attended Hogwarts Scotland and was in Slytherin. She cut all ties to the muggle world, even contact with her muggle parents and Teddy has never met them.

The Hoshino Family own and manage a cherry tree farm in Japan. The wood from the Prunus avium that they grow is used to make wands. Teddy spends every holiday visiting the big family home in Aichi Prefecture, along with the rest of his extended family. Teddy's mother, Karen, currently manages the farm, despite being a Hoshino by former marriage. The Hoshino family has fallen from favour in some circles, due to their historical association with the Dark Arts.

Teddy rubbed at the dried paint he'd already managed to get on his hands during the train ride. Attempting to capture an image of the countryside had been a welcome distraction, but now he had nothing to push away his nerves as he entered the Great Hall with the other new students. He looked up at the ceiling in awe, wondering how the magical night sky had been made possible. It was so much more beautiful than the little glowing stars his ma enchanted to float around his bedroom, and he loved the castle immediately. He closed his hand around the silver Slytherin charm hidden in his pocket for luck. His ma had given it to him as a parting gift, and a reminder that she was counting on him to make their family proud. Teddy didn't know what she would do if he was sorted into a different house, but he didn't want to know.

He waited for his name to be called with a growing sense of dread as each student before him was sorted. He was so lost in his head that he almost missed his name being called, stumbling on his way to the front. Teddy flinched as the hat slid over his head, afraid it was going to tell him that he wasn't really a wizard and it had all been a mistake. He didn't think he could deal with his ma's disappointment if he turned out to be a squib and had to leave Hogwarts before he had a chance to learn anything.
