Ryan sat on the bench in Brightstone. He was meeting Mel today as she was on her break at school Since he had met her he had seen some good partential in her that Ryan liked and he thought that with the right up bringing she could turn out to be a decent person like him. Someone strong and not to be messed with. He already knew she could look after herself as that was how they met, she had beat up an older boy in a fight and he had given her some advice.

While she had been at school they had sent letters to each other and he had found out that she might be going up for adoption. If Ryan adopted her then he could really raise her like he had been raised. The girl deserved it, she looked like she wasnt loved at all she wore torn clothes and such and it was embarrassing for her. When she became a Porter she would always be looking presentable and she could hold her head up and if anyone picked on her then he woul sort them out.

Melanie wiped her eyes and sniffed . She couldn't meet up with Ryan with tear streaks down her cheeks. It took about five minutes for her to look relatively alright. She began her walk to the village, ignoring the people around her and focused on what she was going to tell Ryan.

Finally Melanie reached the place they agreed to meet and saw he was already sat on the bench. She fiddled with her blue dress, it was about three sizes too big and had faded and earned itself more than a few holes. She hated almost all of her clothes, all except her boots. Her boots were awesome and perfect for kicking people with, one of her strong points in fighting. She took a breath and plastered a smile on her face as she approached Ryan. "Hey Porter." She sat on the bench next to him, hoping her eyes were no longer pink.

Ryan looked to his side when he heard the voice he had been waiting for. His little first year student, Melanie. She no different than what he would have expected. Clothes that a homeless person should not even wear and her eyes looked puffy. "Hello Mel. Want to talk about it?" He asked as it clicked that she had been crying. If it had anything to do with her parents, which he expected it did, then he would go voer there later and make sure they knew that she had his protection. "Want me to go over and sort them out for you? You could watch if you like." He said as a grin worked its way on to his face as he thought about what he could do to hurt them

Melanie shook her head. "I've been officially kicked out." Sure, she hated her mother, but she also loved her. She couldn't imagine life without her and she was surprised just how much it hurt that her mother didn't care about her. Melanie leant into Ryan, he was really the only person she had. She chuckled at his suggestion and wiped her eyes, realising she had started to cry again. She hated feeling so weak like this. "You can if you like. I don't feel like watching though." She snuffled and buried her face in Ryan's chest.

Ryan put his arm around her to comfort her. He could feel a wet patch forming on his shirt, but he didnt really care. If she had been kicked out then he could adopt her into his home, he was more than able to look after her, he had money to buy her things. He had more than one home for her to be in. It was logical. "Stay at mine now then. If you have no where else then you can live with me. Il get on social services later and say that im adopting you and then your family wont have to bother you again." He said as he planned it out in his head. SHe didnt know about his occupation yet, he would tell her at some point but not right now. He wanted her to settle down before an of that stuff. "Well there is no real gain by doing it if you dont watch. I will wait."

Melanie nodded into his top, not wanting to move. She had never really had someone who held her and comforted her like this. It was nice. Melanie liked the idea of being adopted by Ryan. He was nice to her and he understood that she wanted to fight and didn't tell her off for it. Melanie felt same with Ryan. He had given heradvice on how to fight so he was obviously good enough to protect her when she needed it. She had a feeling she would need it more than she had thought before. Melanie didn't know how to live without her mother and their fighting. "You'd really adopt me?" Melanie asked as she looked up at the man with her big pink eyes. She hadn't believed him when he said it in his letter. Who would adopt an abandoned little girl who does nothing but fight?

Ryan looked down a her an nodded."Yeah i would. I told you i would when we wrote to each other. You have potential and you deserve someone ho knows it and can actually look after you." He said looking back up. "YOu really should think more of yourself Mel Your a bright girl who has the promise of good future with the right up bringing. Believe in yourself." Ryan knew that she had to pride herself in her every action, she was a Slytherin after all. Although he would have to get her new clothes before any of that. You couldnt hold you head high with thing like that on. "And first things first. Clothes shopping." He said s he stood up and took two fifty galleon note out of his pockets. " THis is all yours to buy what ever kind of clothes you want." He said handing her the money. "Where do you want to go first

Melanie sat back and shok her head. "No. I don't want money." She wouldn't take charity. She was offended even t the thought of it. She may not be much but she refused to be someone's charity case, a way for him to feel like he was doing his bit and helping people out. Money was nothing, clothes were nothing, she didn't care about either of them really. he had lived in hand me downs her whole life, she had learnt to live with them. She moved away from him slightly.

Ryan bit his lip and thought for a second. "Mel if you have been kicked out you have no clothes. You will need some for when you are at mine. I thought girls liked shopping." He said flashing her a quick smile before returning to his normal shell. "If you dont want to go shopping i can get some stuff when you are away if you would prefer." He said with a shrug. He didnt mind when he did it but he would o it, it would just b easier with her here to say what he liked

Melanie shrugged, it had just hit her. This was all so fast and, well, scary. She didn't like the feeling. Melanie stood up, off of the bench, and shrugged. "Umm, I have to go back to the, um, school. Stuff to do and all that." She couldn't deal with all of this right now. She would go back to the castle and think it through, rationally. "I'll, uh, talk to you later yeah? You can buy me whatever you want." She shrugged and all but ran away to the castle, just as the tears begn to start again.
