Daviana had been doing okay the first week or so at school. She had made a few friends, and her classes were interesting. She'd even mastered a spell with her new fancy wand, but the Gryffindor was feeling a bit of emptiness. No one told her how hard it would be to be away from her family. She already had to deal with missing her dad, and while her Aunt Siobhan had sent her to therapy quickly after she moved into with her, it didn't take away the hurt of being far away from him. She also missed her aunts, and while it was nice to have Kahurangi and Hinemoa nearby if she really needed something, the one person she missed the most was impossible to write a letter to. Her therapist has given her tools to cope, one of them being a journal that she could use to write letters to her mum when she really missed her. It helped - most of the time - but as she got older, it was more of a struggle knowing that her mum would never read them. She wanted to tell her about school and that there was more magic than what she had taught her. She wanted to talk about flying on a broom and getting to travel to New Zealand. She wanted her to have been there when she was shopping for wand and school supplies and help her pick out her school robes. Daviana wanted to not have her miss out on the important moments of her life. Today was a bad grief day, and it meant having to pull out her notebook and write out her feelings for the first time since school had started. The redhead curled up in a chair and began writing furiously, some of her sentences not making sense, but she just wanted to get her thoughts on paper.
