Jerara felt nervous, he was fidgeting with his hands, humming under his breathe and curious eyes darted all around him, this was not what he'd been expecting. The magical area was a place only he could go, his father couldn't see it, couldn't be in it and this only added to Jerara's nervousness, all around him in the shops were magical things and he couldn't help but wonder, how did they manage that? Having always been the oldest child to his parents he was the first to experience everything, but it was possible that he would be the only one to experience this. The fact he was first and alone in facing this brought nothing but nerves to the boy, made the fluttering in his stomach grow tenfold, he just didn't want to be alone in a new world he barely understood, he'd always been surrounded by brothers or family or friends this was his path to go alone. The young boy tugged at his jumper, pulling the sleeves over his hands, letting out a little cold breath and rubbing his arms, he didn't like the cold of this country, it wasn't what he was used to, having never before left the Darwin area of australia this was a huge change, and it was all changing because apparently he had magic, and a little too quickly for Jerara's liking. Jerara continued to stare into the shop window where all the covers of the books he was looking at were moving, unable to really tear his eyes away from them, utterly fascinated by them. How was this even possible?

Xena was feeling incredibly excited. The butterflies in her stomach were good ones, not the yuck ones that made her feel sick. Her older sisters were already at Hogwarts in New Zealand, and Xena couldn't wait to join them. The young girl was shopping, getting way too many supplies but enjoying every second of it. Shopping for school supplies was almost just as fun as shopping for clothes and other little trinkets, but school supplies was the only thing on her mind, knowing she would be attending in the following year and Xena couldn't wait to know what house she was going to be in.
Xena had left her hair down again, it was easily her favorite style and she wasn't too humble to say it looked nice, and often she didn't have to do much to make it look that way. She didn't find March that cold even though it was going into Autumn, it was still quite warm for the young girl, and as she broke off from her parents, she took her jacket off and headed towards the bookstore. Xena saw a boy, her age she assumed, staring at the books. She watched him, interested for a moment, before moving closer to him and standing next to him, staring at the books with him. "There are a lot more interesting things to stare at than books, you know." Xena commented, before turning to the boy with a small smile.

Jerara's gaze was stolen away from the moving pictures when a girl spoke next to him, he jumped having not noticed her until she'd begun speak right next to him. But the boy didn't understand her question, how could there be more interesting things to stare at when the pictures on the books literally moved, "But, the pictures move!" Jerara was quick to inform her, pointing to one of the books at random, since they all appeared to be moving, and his attention was just taken back by them, they were like the moving images one could see on a muggle computer, not like the videos, but moving pictures, but instead of being on an electronic screen they were on paper books. He couldn't hide his fascination of them, "How could anything be more interesting? How can it even be possible?" he muttered not entirely speaking to the girl, but if she knew he wouldn't have minded an answer, the boy was so wrapped up in the books in front of him, reaching out with a tentative hand to the window, and their moving pictures it didn't even cross his mind that the person speaking to him was magical, and would be the first other magical person he'd interacted with. His young and curious mind was far too wrapped up staring that the moving pictures of books he would likely never read.

Xena grinned at the boy at his exclamation. He must have been new to the magical world, Xena hadn't met anyone like that before, but his excitement was incredibly endearing. She looked at the book he pointed to briefly, before looking back at the boy. She chuckled at his comment, and she took a moment to think of all the wonderful things that were more exciting to experience than moving pictures. "Well, we can ride brooms? Dragons exist. And magic. You must be new? My name is Xena." She spoke, holding out her hand to shake his. "Do you want to go in and have a proper look at the books? Or do you want me to take you on a tour of the more exciting things in this world?" Xena grinned. She would love to show someone around the Magical world, especially someone who was blown away by the books. It would be incredibly fun to show someone like that the more enthralling things in the world. Xena was sure that her parents wouldn't mind if she took a detour or took a bit longer to meet them - even if they did she was sure she'd be able to get them to forgive her about it. Xena did have to get a couple of books so going in would be helpful but she didn't mind not doing it yet.

Jerara looked up at the girl as she chuckled, he did't understand why she was reacting like that, surely she could see by the moving pictures on the covers of the book, but he began listening more intently as she spoke of other things they had, brooms he knew, and riding brooms was something he'd done, but it hadn't been anything amazing or better than the pages of the books in front of him. Dragons yes, that got his attention, "Dragons, like real fantasy novel type dragons and not like lizards and things?" he pushed with a curious expression his voice growing a little quieter as he spoke, hoping that she wouldn't laugh at his lack of knowledge about the field and his lack of knowledge about magic. Jerara note the hand and took it in his, "I'm Jerara," he shook her hand a little limply before pulling back his hand and thinking about what she could possibly be taking about, what other wonders could this world have that was better than the books, "What else could possibly be more exciting than this?" he indicated to the books again but instead of looking at the books he kept his gaze on this witch in front of her. Wondering what it was like to be raised by magic like this girl had been, he had never seen magic, he had some moment of accidentally magic or what he now understood as accidentally magic, but more magical things would be incredible, "I want to see more exciting things,"

Xena couldn't help but continue to grin as the boy asked about dragons. Dragons were something that she grew up with, but she could imagine the excitement a muggle would get from seeing one. "Real dragons." Xena replied with a big smile and a nod of her head. Of course, she wouldn't be able to show the boy the real dragons, she wasn't even old enough to go hunting for them by herself yet, but surely he'd come across one eventually in his life. It would've been hella cool to show him one though. When Jerara said he wanted to see more exciting things, Xena's brain began to race, trying to think of what she could show him. Brightstone was bitterly disappointing for her, but she knew of a place that had a whole assortment of magical things that Jerara could look at. "Brightstone doesn't even have broomsticks, but I know of a place that has a ton of different things. Let's go there." Xena suggested, leading the way towards Dervish and Banges. She knew the place had miniature dragons for sale, and thought it would be super cool to buy him one.

Jerara couldn't help the widening of his eyes when Xena confirmed that there were real, he couldn't believe it, there were real, he wondered if he would see any at the magical school he had been invited to attend to hone his magical skills. He wondered if they looked anything like the dragons from the old story books he'd read as part of his early muggle education. The young boy couldn't help but be so curious about them, he wondered about what other magical and amazing creatures the school would have for him. The boy nodded at his new companion, trusting that she would take him somewhere good, "Why broomsticks? Do magical people actually fly on brooms? Are they like airplanes, or more like super fast bikes?" he asked walking beside her, his gaze shifting excitedly between where they were heading and her, he didn't want to accidentally trip up but he didn't want to miss anything that Xena said, "Where exactly are we going?" there was a hint of nervousness in his thick australian accent as he spoke, he wanted to know everything about this new world that he was in, and he was really beginning to realise from even this small amount of time in front of the magical moving pictures and with this girl that he had a whole lot to learn, but that was obviously going to be true given that he had never interacted with this world until now.
