It was just before lunch that Alexandros Kanas found himself in the Student Lounge. His English had greatly improved since he had been here, which was really good as he didn't feel so helpless any more. He could understand what people were saying to him much more fluently and would not have to ask for a repeat, which always used to make him feel stupid. He had always been quite good at writing in English but it seemed that his language skills were slightly lacking, but as he was now all caught up, he did not mind so much. There were a few Slytherin's in the room he noticed, a handful of Ravenclaw's and a Gryffindor or two, but no Hufflepuff's which struck him as kind of weird. He shrugged and walked over to one of the couch's and pulled out his history of magic homework. He had been neglecting it for a couple of days and so he figured that now would be the best time to do it, seeing as there would soon be no more History of Magic class, which was rather sad of Lexan as he really rather liked that class and wanted very much to be a History of Magic Professor when he Graduated. He would prefer to work here, but working somewhere else was also something he was willing to do if it came to that.

After a while, Lexan started to get bored of his homework and instead pulled a book out of his bag. The Lords of the Stones by PD James. It was one of Lexan's favourite's. It was a fictional story based around history, which was the sort of genre Lexan liked to read, regardless of what kind of history existed in it. He snuggled down into the lounge and turned the page carefully, being cautious not to tear the page.

Rose had tried on her dress for the Yule Ball last night. She had to say she did like it a lot. She had never worn anything like it before. The heels were taking a bit of getting used to but after some practice she was able to walk in them with out stumbling or falling over which was a huge relief as she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of the whole school. She was curious as to how the night was going to turn out. It didn't sound very exciting. She was only looking forward to putting on the dress and seeing what everyone else was going to where. The atmosphere might be good at this because a lot of people would be looking forward to going home and spending Christmas with their family. She of course was dreading going home. She tried to think of anything but going home. She was telling herself that she was just over-reacting. That things were going to be the same. But Rose wasn't sure if she wanted that. Sure if her father was getting better because she wasn't that would mean she would have to leave but he would be getting better. He would hopefully be getting his life back and maybe when she was older and he better he would actually be able to look at her and maybe even dare she think it, hug her? But if he hasn't improved well then the chances of him ever getting better were slim. But then she could stay and she wouldn't feel as if this was all her fault.Rose punched the wall in her frustration. She hadn't meant to do it but there was so much conflicting emotions going through her that she had had to release it somehow. She was regretting the decision as her knuckles were now bleeding and her hand was throbbing. "Damn"She said under her breath trying not to cry from both the pain and her situation.

After sitting on her bed for a few moments,Rose figured she would need to clean her knuckles somehow to stop them getting infected. She needed to stop them bleeding too.She needed to clean herself up. Taking out her wand she used the summoning charm to get bandages and some disinfectant. Carefully and slowly she began cleaning her knuckles. Wincing every now and again when it stung. Once this was finished wrapped her hand up in a white bandage. It still stung but it was feeling a lot better now. Rose decided she should probably put these back in case either of the nurses needed it. Getting off the bed she picked up her drawing bag and put it over her shoulder. She then walked out of her dorm and walked out the portrait. She walked down the stairs to the third corridor and went to the hospital wing. She returned the bandages and disinfectant. She tried to get away before the nurse saw her but she didn't get out fast enough. She had to then explain what had happened and the nurse insisted that she should have a look at her knuckles. Rose obliged and took off the bandage. The nurse looked impressed but she got her some new bandages and dressed her cut again. Rose thanked the nurse and headed for the student lounge. She walked in and sat down on her usual seat on the window sill. She took out her sketch book and pencils. She looked around the room looking for anything inspirational to sketch. Her attention was caught by a boy who was reading. There was nothing that particularly stood out about him but Rose found her fingers beginning to sketch.

Lexan had already found his quaint little section, all to himself, in the Hogwarts Castle. He smiled as he flicked through the pages of his favourite book. It was interesting to him, how much he did and did not know about history. Even the fact that his entire culture was based around History. He never really understood that. But his culture was one of the oldest and most delicate around. He had no idea if there were even any Greeks in Hogwarts. Not that he minded really. He liked being unique. He smiled as he closed the book, noticing another person enter. She was a girl, probably about his age. That was nice. He hadn't really talked to many people while he was here. He had never really been able to understand them for most of the term. He watched her as she sketched for awhile. He couldn't see what she was sketching as she was a little too far away. He shrugged. At least he could see a reason to go over and talk to her. and luckily, if she could understand him through his accent, he would be able to talk to her.

He walked over and stood beside her. He didn't look at her sketch in case she didn't want anyone to see. He was very respectful in the that manner. He moved to sit in front of her and waited for the right moment to speak. It presented itself soon and he took the opportunity to make himself known. He cleared his throat and introduced himself.

"Hey there, I'm Alexandros Kanas."

He told her, his Greek accent very heavy in his words. He hoped she wouldn't have too much trouble trying to figure out what he had said.
