Toni had stayed out of the library so far this year. It seemed like a rather high achievement in her eyes. After all Toni least favorite spot was the outside but the library came close. Having to be quiet and surrounded by old dusty books really didn't appeal to her at all. Yet for some reason, as Toni walked about the school, she wondered if she should at least take a step in the library.

Entering in the library, there were people sitting all over. Toni not bothering to look for anyone. Why would she want to be seen in the library any way? Taking a seat at an empty table, Toni reached over to the closet self and picked up some random book. As she opened up the dusty pages, Toni skimmed the pages.

Taylor was tired of the loud idiots in her common room shouting about who knows what? She needed to write a letter to her parents, but it was too cold to write it in the owlery. Stepping into the library she was embraced with the quiet. Inwardly sighing she glanced around and noticed the huge amounts of people in the library. Why are there so many people in this place? She thought to herself.

Stepping deeper into the library, her quill and parchment in hand, she looked for a place to sit. There were people everywhere. Seeing a familiar face, sat at an empty table, Taylor took a seat at the opposite end. A little weary in case Toni wasnt in a great mood today.

As Toni flipped through the pages of the book, which seemed to be titled Self-Defensive Spellwork. She wasn't quite sure why she had chosen this book other than chance but it could have been worse. Toni could have picked something from a subject such as Care for Magical Creatures. Now that would have been well boring to put it in other terms.

Not taking her glance off the book as she heard someone sit down at the table. Waiting a few moments before Toni glanced up to see that it was Taylor. "Hey" She said her voice quietier than usual for the simple fact that she was in a library.

Seeing Taylor with parchment, quill, and some ink she wondered if she was slaving away on some assignment. "So what are you up to?" Toni said trying to make conversation.

After a few short moments Toni spoke. "Hey." Taylor gave her a small smile as she spoke in a quiet voice as Toni had done. Taylor glanced to Toni's book, curious as to what she was reading, but she couldnt tell what it was from where she was sat. Looking back up at Toni's face she replied.

"Writing my Mum and Dad a letter, thought they would like to know how classes are going and such." She shrugged, flipping her quill around in her fingers. "What you reading." She nodded towards the book Toni had. before looking back down at her parchment and wrote a simple Dear Mum and Dad,

Looking down for a bit as she flipped the page once more of the book that looked old in Toni's opinion. Okay maybe it wasn't too old but it wasn't new like the books that Toni was used to reading, new and newly bound. It just seemed odd that the library wouldn't be stocked with all new books. Maybe this library was just cheap or maybe all libraries were like this. Toni couldn't be sure and she wasn't going to even think about asking.

When Taylor said she was writing a letter home, Toni couldn't help but wonder why she would come to the library for that. Usually people wrote letters in the owlery. "Why are you writing a letter in here?" Toni asked as she thought about that fact that Amanda had never written her back. maybe the letter was never recieved or maybe Amanda had nothing to say back, though that would be a first.

"Oh It's called Self-Defensive Spellwork" Toni said shrugging slightly. God I'm reading a library book She thought wondering what others were really going to think about that one.

Taylor was stumped by the thought of what she was going to write in her letter. She stared at the four words written on her page as though they alone would provide the answer. She wasnt concerntrating at all today. Toni's voice saved her the trouble of thinking about her letter further. "Its pretty cold today." She said lamely. "Plus i thought the quiet of the library might be peaceful." She said her voice quietly considerably.

Taylor nodded at the title of the book, although she hadnt heard of it before. She traced the feather of her quill across her chin absently. "Interesting?" She tried, wanting to make some kind of conversation.

Toni looked over the page smiling slightly at a few of the spells that were written with a nice little demostration picture. The smile didn't stay long on her face though. The thought of someone seeing her and knowing that she was enjoying a book in the library was a bit too much. Glancing around to see if she saw anyone else she knew, it seemed hopeless. No one else she knew was here, well no one that she saw.

"It's cold" Toni repeating Taylor's answer. "Ok then" Toni said as she flipped the page once more. Thinking that maybe Toni should write another letter home but deciding against it. Toni didn't want to write anything until Christmas in which she would write a simple Happy Christmas and be done with it.

As Taylor asked if the book was interesting, Toni didn't really know what to say "It's better than most the books around here" Toni said her voice still what she considered library quiet. "I mean I could have picked up a Care of Magical Creatures or Divination book" Toni added rolling her eyes.

Looking down at her letter Taylor tapped the feather of quill against the back of her left hand, which was placed over the letter on the table. She then added a few more pathetic words to it.
Dear Mum and Dad,
How have you been?

The conversation between her and Toni seemed awkward. Maybe it was because of the subject matter of their last conversation. "True." She said in regards to what Toni said about the book she was reading. Staring at her letter for a few pointless moments, she looked up again a little awkwardly. "So," She gave time for a slight pause. "Has everything been ok with you lately?" She kept her voice quiet, but said it as though it were regular conversation. Taylor wouldnt call it genuine concern, but it was concern nonetheless.
