Dearest Dannii,

After my graduation, something occurred. I now have a job, but other things come to my attention. I know how you feel about the Death Eaters, and sadly enough, I do apologize over their (your parents) tragic deaths. It is because of this, we cannot see each other anymore. I will love you, always will, because you helped me a great deal. And us being apart will be safer for you. I only want your protection, and being with me will just put you in harm's way. I cannot go into details, and wish I could.

Do not try to come searching for me either. I cannot be found. We can keep in contact via letters, and remain friends if you so wish, but it would have to be done in secret. This hurts me to write out. I hope to see you out on the Quidditch pitch one day when you are out in the big Professional games. Like I said, you will not be able to find me anymore.

The one that cares

Azerail had listened to Axel say that he had killed Dannii's parents, and would come after Dannii if he knew where she was. Just to finish the job. Azerail had to do this, to keep her from his psychotic brother. Axel would find anyone if given a lead. Azerail sent the owl to Dannii, in hopes that she would never seek him out, and to be happy in her life. He would never see her again, out of her own protection. He was involved with the Death Eaters too, which she hated. He had to keep her safe, and being around her would just be hazardous. Azerail let out a soft, depressing sigh, as he had made the hardest two decisions in his life, one breaking up with Dannii, and then the other, finally heading down the path to make his Father proud.​

[Dannii Merrythought]

Dannii was sitting on her four poster bed in the almost completely empty dorm room colouring one of her drawings. Her pet Ninja was sleeping on her feet purring softly. What has he done? Hes never this calm unless hes done something bad. Dannii wondered, If hes eaten another 1st years pet rat I'm dead. She really hoped that wasn't the case, as crazy as it seemed, Dannii had grown to love the cat that attacked her on a daily basis. Dannii set down her sketch pad and colouring pencils and let out a sad sigh. She was lonely. Sure she had a friend in Kyle now, but it just wasn't the same with out Azerail at school. She missed him so much. Dannii was just about to tell herself to snap out of it, she would be seeing him over holidays, when an owl tapped on her dorm room window. She squealed with delight when she realized it was Azerail's owl. A letter from him was just what she needed to cheer herself up. Dannii opened the window and let the owl in. Ninja eyed the owl as Dannii took the letter from his leg, but he knew better then to attack an owl. He had learned that before the hard way. The Hufflepuff opened up the letter expecting it to make her feel better. However as she read the words written in his handwriting she became confused and then heart broken. What the hell is this? Dannii thought as she began to realize that Azerail Varius, the boy she loved with all of her heart, was breaking up with her. What did he mean he no longer existed? What was this garbage about this being for her protection. She didn't want protection, she wanted him! Dannii tore out a page of her sketch pad and began writing back to him frantically, her writing a little more shaky then normal.

Azerail,

What the hell are you talking about? What does this have to do with my parents? Are you in trouble? Because if you are I want to help you! I don't care how dangerous it is, I want to be with you. I love you. Please tell me whats going on so I can help.

Dannii

As Dannii wrote her letter Dannii began to wonder if her uncle had anything to do with this. He was still out there, could he be threatening Azerail? No... John was never that powerful, and Azerail's family seem so strong, adopted and biological. Of course he could be hiring people again. Dannii fumbled with the letter until it attached to the owl's leg and she sent it off again.

It has everything to do with your parents. Their killer at least. I am not in trouble, but if we are together, you will be. This will be my last letter until you move on, I am so sorry, Dannii Merrythought. I won't have you hurt on my behalf. Perhaps I will see you again. In the future.

Azerail was still pained by this decision, but he was not going to write to her again, not today. Probably not for a month. He allowed himself to roll over on his bed, and closed his silver eyes. He could feel saddened by this, but he was mostly worried about Axel ever finding her. Azerail felt another presence in the room, and thought that it was Ozias, and his twin asked how he was doing but Azerail could not answer. Truthfully, the emotions were just subtle, and he was able to bury them. He just dumped his girlfriend, and that was it. He was no longer seeing someone, and now he had to learn to be single again. It might be a good thing, and it might be a bad thing too.​

Dannii broke down when she read Azerail's reply. This was really happening. The couple that was supposed to make it through everything and be together forever was over. Dannii wrapped her arms around her legs and buried her head in her knees and cried. Ninja had never seen Dannii cried before and gave a soft mew of concern before scratching at her legs. She ignored him. A realization hit Dannii though as she sat in her room crying. She was single for the first time in almost 7 years. She could finally begin having fun without feeling guilty about it. The thought made her feel just a tiny bit better. It didn't take long though until the little happiness this thought gave her faded away. Right now she just wanted to cry.
