Basic Appearance:
Tenarus is a tall and dark-skinned New Zealander of Beninese birth. He stands 6'2 and weighs nearly two hundred pounds, with well defined muscles and a lean runner's frame. His jawline is very solid and proud, and a small cleft sits snugly in his chin beneath his large pink and brown lips. Eyes of solid black, colder than midnight and darker than sunless caverns sit between a wide nose with round nostrils, underneath a protruding brow adorned with thin eyebrows. His ears are rather small in proportion to the rest of his body as are his eyes, traits for which he was teased by other children in school growing up (among other things). His shoulders are rather broad for his body and his arms somewhat short, which would be more obvious if he had a smaller frame or if he did not hide it well with certain colored clothing. He tends to shave daily, but occasionally sports a white goatee, though he keeps his head shaved magically due to the untamable nature of his nappy hair.
As he is often out and about in the Muggle world, he is fond of fine tailored suits and hand crafted leather shoes. He tends to wear light gray or solid black suits with white and purple shirts, as he finds purple and gray to accentuate his features, and a black suit with a white shirt is a classic look. He is fond of jewelry, often wearing rings on all his fingers (including thumbs) and numerous necklaces and medallions (enchanted and not) under his shirts.
He has two slight deformities that he tries to keep hidden, one of them being a sixth toe on his left foot, and the other being his slightly hunched back. What he does to attempt to his his back is to wear a slightly looser suit coat and stand/sit as straight-backed as possible at all times. He also occasionally wears a brace to sleep.

Tenarus is an incredibly outgoing and self-confident young man. He is passionate about his career and very driven to succeed in it, but this has caused him to be reckless as well. He has often put himself into dangerous situations where his life has been threatened. His obsessiveness over his career has caused him ungodly amounts of stress, and for nearly three years he had a dependency on potions and various Muggle drugs, though he has since kicked them. Despite his flaws he is incredibly loyal to his friends and family (that he stays in touch with) and maintains his relationships well.
Family:
Tenarus is the son of Omolara Azagba (father) and Edenausegboye (mother), the only surviving child of six born children. His father was twenty seven when his twenty three year old wife gave birth to Tenarus. The pair were rice farmers, though Edenausegboye's family were originally craftsmen of tin and copper. Omolara was a stern man and a strict father. Tenarus was often beaten by his father for failing to complete his chores on time. Although his father believed his type of discipline was necessary and allowed, Tenarus grew to hate his father, so much so that he has not spoken to him since he was sixteen. His mother on the other hand was incredibly gentle and kind, but never did anything to stop Tenarus' father. Because of this a resentment has grown within him against his mother and he very rarely sends her letters.
Pets:
Tenarus has no pets, though he grew up with Emus. The reason for this is that as often as he travels, he finds that it is better to rent owls to deliver his messages than to keep one of his own, as he believes an owl would prefer to have one solitary location to live in.

Tenarus has yet to settle down permanently as he has been traveling since graduating Hogwarts, though he maintains a room in his parents home outside of Wellington.
Blood Status:
Tenarus is a Muggle born wizard, the first known wizard in his family (although his mother maintains that her great-grandfather was a powerful wizard that led a Beninese tribe, but there is no proof to substantiate this claim).
Heritage:
Tenarus is the son of rice farmers from the western border of Benin. His mother's family were originally craftsmen but after trade was decreased in Benin due to labor restrictions they joined Omolara's family as farmers.
Interests or Hobbies:
Since he was able to hold and operate a camera he has been in love with photography. He was able to buy his first one at the culmination of his third year and still owns that camera to this day. He would often go wandering through the halls taking pictures of students and classes, and was officially named the Hufflepuff Quidditch team's photographer in his fourth year.
He has had a fascination with the stars since he was a young child in a small Beninese village. At night when his family had fallen asleep (as he too should have been), he would sit out by the campire and watch the stars, tracing them with his fingers and creating his own shapes and constellations. This love has followed him into young adulthood, as he attempts to make time each week to stargaze.

Tenarus has always had the ability to charm and talk his way into and out of many situations. Tenarus' favorite place to be so far is in the jungles of Brazil, where he spent eight months photographing the wildlife and the natural landscape. While there he experienced a peace such as he had never known and became more connected to nature and to the stars than he had ever been.

Tenarus' group of friends changed drastically through their first five years at school, but when sixth year came around his group became defined as five people: himself, Alicia Kellermeen, Jackson Darenson, Charlotte Brusee, and Ioan Gasaph.

Best school subjects:
While at Hogwarts Tenarus' main interests were in plants and animals and in the stars, and he attained high grades in Herbology, COMC, and Astronomy while at school.

Though he tried hard in most of his subjects, he never gained more than an A in an Transfiguration, Charms, DADA, or Potions, but he did especially dreadful in Muggle Studies (though Muggle born himself), as he had no interest in studying other Muggles at the time.

Tenarus was a member of the Astronomy Club and the Magical Creatures Club, and was the official photographer for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team from fourth year through graduation.

Currently Tenarus is a freelance journalist, editor, and photographer, having worked at numerous papers over the last five years, the most prominent of which were the Leuven Lance (Belgium), the Billywig Journal (Australia), and the Western Warlocks Journal, (California, U.S.A.). He had a brief three month stint at The Daily Prophet in London but left due to a photography opportunity in the jungles of Brazil.
Plans for your future:
Tenarus hopes to gain employment at The Daily Prophet as a photographer and journalist, though he has heard recently they are looking for an editor and hopes to apply for that position as well.

Dear Diary,
Today was a good day. I have found many opportunities here in Belgium. The people are very friendly to me and the editor at the Leuven Lance has given me a tremendous first assignment! I was very worried that when I arrived it would be difficult for me to find work, as I have never written for a real paper before, only the yearbook at Hogwarts. But Mrs. Goossens has very nicely allowed me to write a short report on a local wizarding home school and interview the principal. She even told me that if it is written well she will publish it on the third page of the paper! I know that is not front page news and it will be a long while before I can accomplish that, but to be allowed to be in the first few pages of the paper is so exciting that I can barely contain my happiness.
The family that I am living with is very wonderful as well. My old friend Charlotte from school has an aunt and uncle who live here in Leuven, and they were kind enough to allow me to live here for only ten galleons a month as long as I paid for my own food. I had truly feared leaving Hogwarts and home, because I thought there would be no chances given to a young man like myself, but here in Leuven I think I may have found a piece of the pie, as my American friends would say.
