BASIC INFO;
i'll seek you out, flay you alive, one more word and you won't survive
and I'm not scared of your stolen power, i see right through you any hour
SYLVIE
French and Czech form of Silvia, which is the feminine form of Silvius. Rhea Silvia was the mother of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. This was also the name of a 6th-century saint, the mother of the pope Gregory the Great. It has been a common name in Italy since the Middle Ages. It was introduced to England by Shakespeare, who used it for a character in his play The Two Gentlemen of Verona (1594). It is now more commonly spelled Sylvia in the English-speaking world (from behindthename).
LOUISETTE
Diminutive of Louise, the French feminine form of Louis, which is the French form of Ludovicus, the Latinized form of Ludwig. This was the name of 18 kings of France, starting with Louis I the son of Charlemagne. Others include Louis IX (Saint Louis) who led two crusades and Louis XIV (called the Sun King) who was the ruler of France during the height of its power, the builder of the Palace of Versailles, and the longest reigning monarch in the history of Europe. It was also borne by kings of Germany (as Ludwig), Hungary (as Lajos), and other places. Apart from royalty, this name was only moderately popular in France during the Middle Ages. After the French Revolution, when Louis XVI was guillotined, it became less common (from behindthename).
DUVAL
Means "from the valley" in French (from behindthename).
BIRTHDAY
Sylvie was born on November 1st, 2032. She is the fourth and youngest daughter to parents Mathilde and William Duval. Her star sign is Scorpio.
RESIDENCE
After divorcing her husband and moving from France to New Zealand without any notice, Sylvie is currently staying with her eldest sister Carine Vale, and Carine's family. Sylvie is close with Carine although isn't particularly close with Carine's husband nor any of Carine's children.
PARENTS
Mathilde and William Duval. Sylvie has a strained and resentful relationship with both her parents, and this has gotten worse over the years. Sylvie's parents are unhappy with how Sylvie expresses her interest in dark magic, and though they encourage her to study this, they encourage it with the expectation it will remain only studious and not affect the family's reputation. Sylvie is unashamed to show her interests and tried for a time to keep her family happy, she had tried to cater to their expectations of her and fit the path in life they had wanted her to take, however Sylvie is sick of pretending to be someone else or hiding who she is, and she no longer cares what her parents or their social circle thinks. Her parents have now cut her off completely due to her actions and lack of thought about how her actions affect her family, and Sylvie has no regrets.
EDUCATION
Following her family's legacy, Sylvie attended Beauxbatons for the entirety of her magical schooling. Sylvie in her first few years of school tried to meet her parent's expectations of her and achieved excellent grades, however from her fourth year onward Sylvie's grades fell and she began to find herself in trouble often, even resulting in her skipping classes in later years causing her grades to fall even further. Sylvie in her seventh year after receiving an ultimatum from her parents, dove back into her studies and she managed to graduate with decent grades, however she was more than happy to leave her schooling at Beauxbatons behind her.

WAND
- Length: On the shorter side of things, this wand offers excellent control and aim - easily an extension of one's own arm.
- Style: Great care was taken in crafting this wand's wood to spiral to its point, giving it a beautiful aesthetic quality.
- Wood: Aspen is a renowned duelling wood, having a great history within the art and exceptional skill for charms.
- Core: The web of an acromantula is especially strong, so as a core it helps to add a punch to spells. It has been known to be useful for spells of a darker nature. Wands with this core would have no effect against a Basilisk or against a wand that had a core with a part of a Basilisk.
- Flexibility: Unyielding: A wand which takes a special skill and determination to master; but once mastered its spells leave an unforgettable impression.
BLOOD STATUS
Mixed blood. Sylvie understands her blood status is mixed and is familiar with her family's heritage and the blood statuses of her relatives as this has been taught to her from a young age. She does hold some prejudices in regards to blood status, and thinks less of muggle born magical folk. She also understands that her family wants her to marry into a magical family to continue the magical line and this is one of he few beliefs of Sylvie's family that she actually agrees with and will follow if she ever decides to marry again.

APPEARANCE;
i won't soothe your pain, i won't ease your strain
you'll be waiting in vain, i got nothing for you to gain
BUILD
Sylvie, like her sisters is taller and rather lanky. She is confident in herself for the most part, and does not feel any particular way about her build or body type.
STYLE
Sylvie's style is mostly dark, and she prefers to dress in high end magical clothing, with sharp, clean lines and modern silhouettes above any other kinds of clothing. She likes to keep up with fashion trends and uses her sense of fashion to express herself and show the wealth status she is used to, as well as display her authority and confidence. Sylvie on an everyday basis sticks to wearing black clothing because she believes this never goes out of style, however occasionally she strays from this if she finds a piece of clothing particularly eye catching. For formal occasions Sylvie is used to dressing all out to show her sense of style and her family's wealth, and though she has been cut off from her family she does not intend to change the way she dresses or do what she can to dress well for any formal occasion.
EYE COLOUR
Sylvie has hazel-green eyes and she shares this with another one of her sisters and her father. She does not feel any particular way about her eye colour.
HAIR
Sylvie's hair is currently a shoulder length dark brown, to black colour. For the most part she keeps her hair out and styles it straight, although she does sometimes opt to curl her hair when she feels it is fitting for the outfit she has chosen that day. Sylvie likes to keep her hair shoulder length as it is easier to manage and it can hold styles a bit easier, though over time she is finding her hair style is rather boring. She has considered cutting a bob for the impact, but hasn't gone through with this just yet.
PIERCINGS
Sylvie currently only has her ears pierced. She got her ears pierced shortly before she left home to start school at age 11, and she often likes to accessorize her outfits with earrings. She does not currently want or think about getting any other piercings.
TATTOOS
Sylvie currently only has one tattoo that her family doesn't know about, which is a tattoo of a black widow spider placed on her left rib cage. Sylvie got this tattoo shortly after getting married to her now ex-husband as a form of rebellion to the fact she was married, and she does not regret this one bit. She is open to the idea of getting more tattoos but has not decided on any particular design or meaning that she finds worthy enough.

MISCELLANEOUS;
i'm taking it slow, feeding my flame, shuffling the cards of your game
and just in time, in the right place, suddenly I will play my ace
ORIENTATIONS
Sylvie is bisexual and biromantic, and she has been aware of this for a few years. She had her first kiss with one of her friends in school which told her she liked women, and she thought she had only liked women for a long time, especially since she hadn't felt any kind of attraction to men and especially not towards her now ex-husband. However during the time Sylvie was married she had partaken in a few affairs and has since realised she is attracted to both men and women. Though she is not open to her family about this, she is confident and comfortable knowing this herself.
RELATIONSHIP STATUS
Sylvie is currently recently divorced, and is happy to stay single for the foreseeable future. She married her now ex-husband not out of love but in an desperate attempt to free herself from her family's expectations. Since she had been married she realised that marriage hadn't been enough to free herself from this, and as a result she had been biding her time for years, feigning interest in her ex-husband until she knew what she wanted out of life. After finally having a sense of who she was, Sylvie has now divorced her husband and will never look back, she sees that chapter of her life as being over and has no regrets in how her divorce played out.
BOGGART
Sylvie's biggest fear is losing herself and her own goals and desires to cater to what her family wants for her, as well as what her ex-husband wanted for her. So if Sylvie were to encounter a boggart, it would appear as Sylvie wearing an ugly pink, floral dress while heavily pregnant, and wearing the wedding ring and engagement ring from her ex-husband on her left ring finger. When casting Riddikulus, Sylvie would reach under her dress and pull out a crystal ball instead, and this image would make Sylvie laugh.
PATRONUS
Sylvie's full bodied patronus is a black widow spider. Due to the fact black widow spiders have very potent poison, and because by nature black widow spiders consume male spiders after mating, Sylvie finds the image of a black widow spider both comforting and empowering. She feels that she is in some ways a human version of a black widow spider and this is the reason she has gotten a tattoo of a black widow on her rib cage.
MIRROR OF ERISED
If Sylvie looked into the mirror of erised, she would see herself growing old alone and surrounded by old books and tomes. Her greatest desire is to continue learning and practicing dark magic as she gets older, and she does not see any partner or children in her future, so this is the image she would see if she glanced into the mirror of Erised.
LANGUAGES
Sylvie is fluent in French which is her first language, and she is also fluent in English which she learned while being tutored as a child. Sylvie prefers to speak French and will always choose to speak French if she has the option, but upon moving to New Zealand she realizes she needs to speak English more often than not.

PERSONALITY;
i won't soothe your pain, i won't ease your strain
you'll be waiting in vain, i got nothing for you to gain
INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
Sylvie, similar to most other members of her family, is interested in the dark, the depraved and the taboo in many ways. Although she takes after them in this aspect, there is a big difference between this interest expressed by members of her family and Sylvie's expression of this. Sylvie is not purely studious with this much to her family's dismay, and Sylvie finds both the study and practice of dark magic interesting and isn't afraid to do what she can to express her interest in this way even if it means hurting others. She is interested in history and old magic from her older sister Carine, and seeks out knowledge of banned or rare items in the magical world and furthermore the items themselves. She is interested in blood and the elements in regards to magic, and of doing everything she can to widen her mind's understanding of magic and her own magical abilities for the sake of being powerful. She wants to experiment with different kinds of magic outside of what is lawful, and she is not afraid to share this with like minded people. Sylvie like her sister Carine, also has an interest in divination and contacting the dead, and she finds the concepts of death and the afterlife entirely fascinating. Sylvie is constantly learning and loves to read, finding solace in reading old books and scrolls in her family's library.
STRENGTHS
Sylvie is dedicated and ambitious, and most prominently passionate about the subjects and concepts she cares about. She is a fighter, fighting for own happiness outside of what others expect of her, and dedicating herself to whatever goal she has in mind. She does everything and anything she needs to protect herself and live life the way she wants, even if this means keeping to herself and biding her time. Sylvie has a strong sense of self preservation and is confident, she loves being in her own company and solitude and is comfortable in her thoughts and own mind. She is independent and maintains her own ideas and opinions and judgements, even when she is pretending to cater to the influence and expectations of others, and she is always in pursuit of knowledge and experiences that interest her. Sylvie is analytical and observing and knows when to pick her battles, she is smart in knowing when to speak or what to say to get what she wants from others. She also is confident in being judgemental and pointing out the flaws of others if she deems it necessary, and is blunt in honest in telling people the reality of their situations and not sugar coating things. Sylvie, like most of her family, and even to the detriment of her family's reputation, is always unapologetically herself.
WEAKNESSES
Sylvie as a result of her ambitions and in being blunt and honest with her observations, opinions and judgements, is not particularly kind nor is she a particularly warm person to be around. She is unable to truly make friends or maintain relationships with people outside of her family circle, and even with most of her family at times, and due to this she is rather distant and cold, and is often alone and without anyone to keep her company. Sylvie keeps up a strong wall to keep others away and this along with Sylvie's incredible honesty is why she finds it easy to make enemies rather than friends. Even when she isn't trying, she finds that no matter what she does people end up disliking her, and though most of the time she does not mind this and enjoys being alone, she is finding that sometimes she does feel lonely even if it is entirely her fault. Deep down Sylvie misses having one person in the world that truly understands her, though she refuses to admit this and sees this as a weakness, and actively pushes others away. Sylvie also is close minded and views the interests of others and subjects that aren't ones she finds interesting herself entirely boring, and she can dismiss concepts or ideas and things that are outside of her interests as shallow, vain, and unworthy of her attention. Sylvie in being raised in her family's elite circle is also prejudiced, entitled and incredibly selfish, she only really thinks for herself over everyone else, and this paired with her judgemental nature and cold demeanor are some of her most prominent weaknesses.
PERSONALITY TYPE
The Logician: INTP-A
Logicians pride themselves on their unique perspectives and vigorous intellect. They can’t help but puzzle over the mysteries of the universe – which may explain why some of the most influential philosophers and scientists of all time have been Logicians. This personality type is fairly rare, but with their creativity and inventiveness, Logicians aren’t afraid to stand out from the crowd. Logicians often lose themselves in thought – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. People with this personality type hardly ever stop thinking. From the moment they wake up, their minds buzz with ideas, questions, and insights. At times, they may even find themselves conducting full-fledged debates in their own heads.
From the outside, Logicians may seem to live in a never-ending daydream. They have a reputation for being pensive, detached, and a bit reserved. That is, until they try to train all of their mental energy on the moment or the person at hand, which can be a bit uncomfortable for everyone. But regardless of which mode they’re in, Logicians are Introverts and tend to get tired out by extensive socializing. After a long day, they crave time alone to consult their own thoughts.
But it would be a mistake to think that Logicians are unfriendly or uptight. When they connect with someone who can match their mental energy, these personalities absolutely light up, leaping from one thought to another. Few things energize them like the opportunity to swap ideas or enjoy a lively debate with another curious, inquiring soul (from 16personalities.com).

FANCAST
Katerina Petrova: The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)
In her early life, Katherine was a young and beautiful girl who was punished by her family for having a child out of wedlock. Initially named Katerina, she had loved her daughter very much and was heartbroken as she was taken from her and she never even got to held her. After she was banished from Bulgaria, she relocated to England and seemed quite capable of making independent and intelligent choices. Despite her innocence and naivety, Katerina had a sense of self-preservation and immediately sought to protect herself against Klaus by stealing the moonstone and escaping the ritual that meant her death in the process. Whether human or vampire, she maintains her sassiness, insensitivity, independence, pride, selfishness, and sense of self-preservation (from vampirediaries.fandom.com/wiki/Katerina_Petrova).
Similar to Katerina, Sylvie has a strong sense of self preservation, is intelligent and independent, and though for different reasons, Sylvie has also been disgraced from her family which is why Katerina is a fitting fan cast for Sylvie. In many ways Katerina and Sylvie have a lot in common with Katerina's personality as a vampire, in being cunning and self serving and always looking out for themselves even if it is a detriment to others. Sylvie similarly to Katherine, can also at times be seductive when she wants to be, or when it is needed as a means to an end, though unlike Katherine she is not overtly seductive naturally. There are a few other differences between the two, in the sense that Katerina was once innocent and naive whereas Sylvie has never been innocent and naive, but for the most part they have quite similar personalities and demeanors.

HISTORY;
eyes on fire, your spine is ablaze, felling any foe with my gaze
and just in time, in the right place, steadily emerging with grace
EARLY YEARS
Sylvie Louisette Duval was born on November 1st, 2032 to parents Mathile and William Duval. Sylvie was the youngest of four daughters, and born with a significant age gap between her and the rest of her sisters, although this did not mean she felt in any way distanced from them. Sylvie loved watching her older sisters go through their lives, observing in awe as she tried to learn to follow their leads. Sylvie happily ate up all the attention she was given as a baby and toddler, pleased to be the baby of the family and (within her parents reason) get anything she could ever ask for. However while she was the youngest sibling and often able to get away with most things, as she grew older and began to learn to read and write she realised she wasn't entirely free of her parents expectations and rules, often feeling like their rules and the plan they had for Sylvie's life were restricting and keeping her from being the person she wanted to be, keeping her from spending her time how she wanted.
At first, as Sylvie began to grow older she kept to her parents rules whenever she understood she needed to, often getting in trouble at home, but ultimately keeping up with her private tutoring and attempting (often in vain) to keep up a good appearance as a good daughter, so they portrayed the image of being a happy family at events with the elite french magical community. Sylvie from a young age found herself bored with the social circle her parents kept, and since her sisters and her parent's friend's children were significantly older than her, she often found herself bored and alone at events and gatherings, kicking at the marble floors and columns in her home just to find some way to spend her time.

This feeling of disliking the people around her did not change as Sylvie began her magical schooling at Beauxbatons. She was finally around her peers, around children her age that she could spend time with, although despite this she still felt like an outcast and found the conversations and interests of the children in her year were entirely boring. Sylvie dove into each of her subjects because she found nothing else about her schooling interesting, and it was through her dedication to her studies that she finally made her first official friend, a girl in her year who was quiet and shy, but otherwise completely intelligent. Sylvie met her friend while studying in the library and from the day they had begun to study together they were for the most part inseparable. Sylvie and her friend spent all of their free time together, becoming incredibly close and taking care of each other, and they eventually even organized to hang out outside of studying together, just to keep each other company. Sylvie returned home after her first year with excellent grades and though she was sad not to see her friend during the holidays, she couldn't wait to return to school both to return to her subjects and of course also return to her best friend.
Sylvie's second and third years were mostly the same as her first, where she and her friend were inseparable and she focused on her classes and grades more than anything else. This changed however at the end of Sylvie's third year, as her friend told her she would be moving to another part of the world over the holidays. It was during this goodbye that Sylvie's experienced her first kiss, initiated by her friend, and Sylvie returned home feeling a mix of heartbroken and betrayal, and of course confusion over what had happened. She spent the holidays stewing in her feelings and made the executive decision to cut her friend off completely, refusing to respond to her friends letters throughout the holidays or interact with her friend again. Sylvie hadn't promised to keep in contact with her nor was she willing to give her friend a sense of closure by accepting that she had left her behind.
Sylvie a result, spent her fourth year almost entirely alone, and throughout the year without someone to talk to or someone to spend time with, she found herself getting into trouble more often as she no longer had her friend to occupy her time or hold her back. This worsened during Sylvie's fifth year when she began to flunk classes, not due to the fact she wasn't learning or completing homework, but because she refused to respect the authority of professors and actively questioned them and their methods, and of course beginning to actively skip classes, which led her to being punished and put into detention often. After returning home at the end of her fifth year, Sylvie's parents warned her of the responsibility she had to maintain the family's reputation and meet their their expectations, and this quelled Sylvie's rebellion for a time, although not by much which led to her sixth year being almost entirely the same as her fifth year and with even worse grades as she hadn't made an effort to make up for her lost learning time.
Things changed then, during the holidays before Sylvie's seventh year. Sylvie was angry and alone, and though her family encouraged her study of darker subjects they actively detested and felt ashamed of Sylvie's outright rebellion of their rules and growing interest in practicing magic outside of what was acceptable by law, as it would harm their otherwise pristine reputation as a family. Sylvie felt there was no other way to express herself however her parents did not understand nor did what they could to help her with this, instead proposing an ultimatum to Sylvie, to clean up her act for her last year of school or be cut off from their family's wealth. Not wanting to rock the boat further or find herself sent to live with an extended family member in shameful exile and without money for the rest of her schooling, Sylvie tried her best to silence the anger in herself and be the daughter her parents expected. She sought advice from each of her older sisters, growing particularly close with her older sister Carine at this time, and following this Sylvie tried to be the perfect, well behaved daughter her parents wanted her to be. She kept to herself for the entirety of her seventh year, finally feeling like she could breathe again after graduating.

ADULTHOOD
Though Sylvie had escaped the restriction of being at school, she soon realised she hadn't escaped the expectations of her parents and their social circle, and the responsibility of maintaining her family's reputation. Without a job Sylvie knew she couldn't break free from her family either, as she wouldn't know how to support herself, and furthermore being so young into her adulthood she wouldn't know how to live without her family's money and ensuing lifestyle. It was apparent to Sylvie early on her parents wanted her to find a husband and marry young, so she could begin having children and continuing the family legacy in the same way her sisters had done. Sylvie did what she could to bide her time, though felt constricted by her mother often reminding her that time was quickly passing and she wasn't getting any younger.
Sylvie, out of desperation and feeling suffocated and burdened by her family's expectations, soon found a husband in an effort to free herself from her parents grasp. He was a dullard at best, always nervous around her, too nervous to even interact with her in more than a few words however he was her age and from a good family, one with less money than her own certainly, but a family her parents ultimately approved of. He was also far less infuriating than the other bachelors in her family's elite circle, and tolerable even if only in small doses. It was newly married and newly moved into her husband's home that Sylvie had hoped she would find peace away from her family and that she had been finally freed from her family's expectations. However, no sooner than she had her wedding ring on her finger, her parents were asking about grandchildren and she realised she was in over her head.
Sylvie, who at that point was barely twenty years old and barely knew what she wanted out of life, hardly even knew if she wanted children. Knowing this was what her parents wanted as they weren't shy in saying so, she refused to cater to them and continued trying to find her own sense of independence. She kept a distance from her husband and refused to have children with him, and for the most part kept to herself and to her studies, biding her time and maintaining appearances where she could to avoid being cut off from her husband's or her family's wealth.
It took six years of biding her time, of expressing herself in glances to avoid angering anyone with her words and judgements, and six years of avoiding her husband as much as she could while also entertaining herself with a couple of affairs, just because she could. But finally after all that time, Sylvie knew what she wanted, and she couldn't stand her husband anymore, not for another minute. She seemingly out of the blue from an outside glance cut all ties with her husband and demanded a divorce, however the move itself was entirely calculated and pre-planned as she pressured him to sign the divorce papers. It was not a few weeks later after her parents sent a strongly worded letter that she had been cut off, before Sylvie packed up her belongings and fled to New Zealand, to the home of her eldest sister Carine who she knew wouldn't turn her away.
