Isaiah could not believe he had somehow allowed Weston to drag him to the library. He was glad they were friends again after how dumb they had been acting before, but getting convinced to study when that was about the last thing he wanted to wasn't all that. Not that he was set on actually doing any studying. Or homework for that matter. Surely, there were more interesting things to do in the library. Although as soon as that thought started to drift through his head he immediately started to question it. Were there more interesting things to do in the library? It was pretty much the one place in the castle that had everything he disliked. Books, studying, silence and just in general everything that made him bored.

After they had found a table Zay had opened up one of his books just to get Wes off his case, staring at the page without actually managing to read any of the words. It didn't take long for him to look up though, glancing around to see if anything more interesting was happening around them. Not much to his surprise, there was not. He let out a loud sigh and rolled his eyes when that landed him some annoyed looks from a few other students. Yeah, this was far from a place he felt comfortable at. "Dude, why couldn't we just have gone to study at the student lounge? Or like, the great hall?" Zay whispered to Weston as he pushed his book forward a little. "Why did we even go here to study in the first place? Exams are like.. weeks away." He added with a small shrug.

Though last semester hadn't been too bad classes-wise, Weston knew he couldn't expect the same this semester. For one, he had a lot more classes this term. They were also more difficult and would likely involve a lot of theory, which had always been his weak point. And on top of all that, he had Apparition classes to worry about. That was why Weston was determined to get a head start on studying. Of course, studying was a rather boring endeavour, so he had convinced Zay to come with him to the library. Everything, including studying, was more fun with a friend.

It wasn't long after he'd opened a book on potions that Zay let out a loud sigh. Weston glanced up. "Because this is where all the books are," he explained patiently, completely forgetting to whisper. This earned him a round of shushing from some nearby students, and he shot them an apologetic look before lowering his voice to what could technically be considered a whisper but was still pretty loud. "Plus, all the smart people study here, so if we have any questions, we can find somebody to help us." A small part of Weston also secretly hoped that studying at the library would make other people think he was smart. "Yeah, but if we start studying now, then we won't have to study as much later." That might be true in theory, but Weston had yet to actually make it work in practice. After an initial burst of productivity at the beginning of the semester, he usually ended up procrastinating so that he had to cram all the material right before exams. But he was determined not to make the same mistake this semester. That's why they were here.

After pushing his book away Isaiah hung backwards in his chair and folded his hands behind his head, trying not to laugh when Wes turned out to be even worse at whispering than he was. Which only earned them more dirty looks from the students around them. For a second it made him wonder what it would take to get kicked out of the library. That would certainly be something to check of his list of things he had achieved at the school. "Are you really aiming to get a full blown lecture whenever you have one teeny tiny question?" Zay asked his friend, switching to softly speaking rather than full on whispering. He glanced around at the other kids in the library, wondering who Wes would qualify under 'smart people'. "I didn't plan on studying much later anyways, so why start now." He said with a shrug. "Surely there's more interesting things to do in a library than study.." Zay added, although as the words left his mouth he immediately started to wonder whether that would even be true.

Weston gave Zay a somewhat confused look. "Sure...?" He didn't see why someone answering his question with a lecture would be a bad thing. He needed all the help he could get. "A lecture would be helpful. He glanced back at his potions book and sighed. "They'd probably be better at explaining all this stuff than Watson." Professor Watson was nice, but he didn't exactly spend a lot of time lecturing. He mostly just wrote out potions recipes on the blackboard and expected them to follow the instructions. At Zay's next remark, Weston furrowed his brow. "But how are you going to pass your exams without studying?" After the OWLs last year, he hadn't thought he would need to worry about exams again until NEWTs. But it turned out that seventh year classes also required certain grades to enroll. If he failed all his exams this year, he wouldn't even be able to take any classes next year. And how was he supposed to learn cool spells if he couldn't take any classes? Weston was momentarily distracted from his worrying by Zay's comment. "Yeah? Like what?" he asked, glancing around.

Isaiah snorted when Wes mentioned some of their classmates might just be better in explaining stuff than their actual professors. Which, in reality, wasn't that strange of a thought. Especially since some professors didn't seem to keen on actually explaining things to them, they just liked to load them up with information and send them on their way. Nevertheless, Zay wasn't entirely keen on getting lectured by his classmates either way. "Dude, I've got brains for days." He joked in response to Wes' question. Honesty though, he knew he needed to study. He had barely passed his OWLs last year and even though this year exams were just exams he knew he needed to try way harder. Especially with NEWTs coming up next year. He hated studying, sure, but there was no way he wasn't going to graduate in time. His dads would kill him. "Okay, fine. Maybe we do need to study." He sighed. "But there's gotta be better places. I can't even make a sound here without getting shushed." Zay added as he looked around. The castle was filled with students trying to make the most of their time these days, but the library seemed like the meeting point for all over-achievers. Needless to say he didn't specifically feel at home there. "Like.. have you ever seen someone get thrown out of the library? What d'you reckon it'll take?"

Weston wished he had brains for days. Then maybe school would finally be easier for him. He knew by now that there was more to being a Ravenclaw that getting good grades, but he still wished he could be as smart as his housemates. Yeah, I dunno why we have to be so quiet in here," he said a little too loudly, which earned him some glares. He winced and lowered his volume. "But like I said, all the smart people are here." Well, here and the Ravenclaw common room, but he couldn't really take Zay there. "So there's gotta be a good reason for it." He frowned a little at Zay's question but gave it some earnest thought. "I dunno, break a rule? But like, a really strict one, not an ordinary one like 'be quiet.'" If that were the case, then they would've been kicked out ages ago. "You don't think Bran's dad would throw anyone out, do you? He seems pretty nice." Granted, Weston had never really spoken to Mr. Archer, but he had never seen the man yell at anyone or even take points. He assumed Mr. Archer was just as nice as his son.
