Standing alone up in the North Tower, Cecily Rambolt stood still against the backdrop of the clear night sky. Millions of stars twinkled above her and the moon was big and full, illuminating the entire grounds below her. She loved the night; crickets chirping, bullfrogs croaking and children sleeping. It was a time where she could reflect on the day.
Sighing, she turned her face up to the stars and closed her eyes, letting the cool air wash over her. She couldn't sleep in her new quarters so she'd walked the lonely halls, her usually bare feet covered with her ballet style slippers. She wore a long sundress with a shawl her mother had woven for her around her shoulders.
Soon she found herself up on the North Tower, the night welcoming her like a long lost friend.
As a child she'd stay in the treehouse her father had made her in the old oak in their backyard whenever life became too confusing. She'd flip open the sunroof flap he'd made in the roof and lay on her sleeping bag, staring up at the stars. It helped her to make sense of things.
Tonight she looked up at them, willing them to make sense of her life and the recent events she'd endured.
