Riley stretched, stifling a yawn. She had stayed up later than she usually would, as she had made plans to meet up with Jerrod Green. Jerrod Green, she thought, as butterflies invaded her stomach. Ever since meeting him on the lawn, Riley couldn't get him out of her head. She had been waiting for this night to come along for a long time, but now that it had, she was nervous. What if she couldn't think of anything to talk about? What if she says something that makes her sound stupid? She swallowed down the small lump that formed in her throat as she stood up and made her way to the north tower.
Riley stealthily made her way up, marveling at Hogwarts' beauty at night. She had never been out during the night before, loving her sleep far too much. But when it came to meeting with Jerrod, she would gladly give up her sleep. Riley breathed in the fresh air when she walked out the door onto the tower. She glanced around, looking for Jerrod, hoping he was already there.

Jerrod smiled as he walked towards the tower. It was weird that he had missed Riley. Most girls meant nothing to him. There was only three that made him stop and stare. Angelica didn't really count because they were related. Melanie had apparently run away from school so he wasn't about to be seeing her any time soon and the other was Riley. She made him feel weirdly vulnerable but in a good way. The sort of way that guys like when they're with girls because they know that they will always be there to help the girl through whatever is upsetting her.
Jerrod smiled when he saw Riley. She looked amazing stood there looking around. "Hey Riley. How are you??" Of course, Jerrod had no idea what to do with a pretty girl so he usually just tried to treat her as kindly as he could.

Riley spun around and her eyes landed on Jerrod. A smile spread across her face and her breath caught in her throat. Though images of Jerrod had scattered across her dreams, they did not live up to the feeling that Riley experienced when she was in his presence. She quickly cleared her throat after realizing that she had not yet replied, and the silence had lingered for a moment too long. "Hey Jerrod! Yeah, I'm fine, I'm good! Great. How are you?" She replied awkwardly. She cursed herself silently wishing she had replied something other than what made her look like an idiot. She tried to make a mental note to stay calm, it was just a boy after all; but he had given her butterflies more than any other before.

Jerrod grinned as he watched Riley talk. Every word she said felt like music to him and he started losing himself in her words when he realised she'd asked him a question. "I'm good. More chaos at home but I'm not there so I can't really do anything. I'm jst seperating myself from all of that." Jerry got annoyed with his mum constantly writing him letters about the chaos back home but he guessed that writing it down was her way of getting around everything and working through it. Jerrod looked up at the sky and was glad that it was a reasonably clear night. "At least there's not too many clouds tonight so we can see some decen stars."

A slight pout overtook the place of a smile as Jerrod told Riley that there was more chaos at home. She hated that she couldn't really do anything to help Jerrod, and more that he couldn't really do anything to help out at home either. She sighed and placed a hand on Jerrod's shoulder. "Again, if there is anything at all I can do, please let me know." She told him softly.
Riley followed Jerrod's gaze and looked up at the sky. She nodded her head as he mentioned the stars. "Yeah, I suppose that is a good thing!" She commented. "So what do we do? Show me your favourite star." She grinned. "If it's out tonight."

Jerrod smiled and felt comforted by Riley. She always seemed to make him feel happier and more cheerful. He guessed it was one of the reasons why he couldn't keep his mind off of her. It was always thinking about her in some form or another. Her smile, her eyes, her hair. All of it dazzled him and left him breathless. He wasn't used to feeling this way away about anyone other than his family.
Jerrod looked up around the stars for one he recognised. "My favorite one is Nigel which is in the constellation Orion but it's not out. You can see Hydra from here though." Jerrod pointed the star out to her when he saw it. "There's quite a few that you can't see with the naked eye but it's nice to just sit and stare."

Riley looked up to where Jerrod pointed. She smiled at the beauty of the stars. She didn't really know where Jerrod was pointing to, but she loved it all the same. "I agree." Riley smiled. "Though, I don't really know the names, so I usually just sit and stare." She grinned at Jerrod.
Riley took a few steps forward, and then lay on the ground, with her hands behind her head. She glanced over at Jerrod, and patted the space next to her, encouraging him to lay down next to her. She lay staring at the stars in silence for awhile, before she turned over to Jerrod. "Tell me about yourself, Jerrod."

Jerrod smiled at what Riley said then led down on the floor next to her. He could name most of the stars in the sky but his attention wasn't on them, it was on the beauty led next to him. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her. Not for one seconds.
Jerrod was taken off guard by the question she asked. He thought about it for a second then said "Well, I love my family, I don't make friends very easily but the friends I make I stick by through anything, I love books and get my grades from them rather than my lessons-most lessons I spend doodling, I play guitar. Anything else you want to know?? Or is it your turn??" He grinned and felt his fingers lock around her's.

Riley grinned as she listened to Jerrod explain himself. She thought about what he had said, especially the fact that he didn't make friends easily. It confused her, as she thought they seemed to get along fine when they first met.
Her breath caught in her throat again as she felt his fingers intertwine with her own. She looked down at their hands, then back up to Jerrod with a slight smile on her face. She squeezed his hand slightly and thought about what she should tell Jerrod. "You play guitar? That's awesome, I'm going to have to hear you play sometime." She commented. "I love my family too, and my friends. I find it really easy to get along with people, so I suppose I make friends quite easily, but I love them all none-the-less. I don't really like class, although DADA and Charms do catch my interest. The main thing that I love to do is sing. I love performing, it makes me so happy. Er, my hair also sparkles in the sun? My great, great granddad had a charm put on him by his wife; she made his hair sparkle. The gene's carried down. It's pretty fantastic really." She turned over onto her stomach, and grinned at Jerrod, still holding his hand.

Jerrod nodded. "I play with my sister usually but she's still in a bad mood so I'm staying away from her for a bit." Jerrod knew what his sister was like when she was in bad moods but this was taking the mik. It had been months since she had broken up with Logan and she still couldn't get over it. "I like those to as well. They're probably two of my favourites. There's some classes that are just unbelievably boring." Jerrod took in the next bit of information and grinned. "Perhaps we could do a duet at some point?? I could play guitar and do backing vocals and you can sing." Jerrod never thought he was anything amazing when it came to singing but he did it all the same. Then Jerrod laughed. "Sorry but that is funny. Your hair sparkles." He laughed again. "That is actually quite funny. Why did she make his hair do that??" He was curious now. If the woman hated him then she would have hurt him instead of making him sparkly and if she loved him then why would she make him look funny??

"How come your sister is in a bad mood?" She asked curiously. "Maybe I'll have to get some guitar lessons then so I can play with you." She smiled at Jerrod, liking the idea of having something else in common with him to do together. "I know right, like History of Magic? Bores me to tears. I actually fell asleep in class once, have no idea what happened the whole time." Riley laughed quietly. She smiled at the idea of doing a duet with Jerrod. "That's a really good idea. It'd be fun! I didn't know you could sing too? You're showing me up." Riley grinned.
Riley hit Jerrod playfully as he laughed at her sparkling hair. "My family has a line of a bit of crazy people." Riley laughed. "She loved him, she really did, but she loved everything that glitters. She thought it would be cool if his hair sparkled, much to his despair. But he loved her too, so he didn't flip out when she charmed his hair. She must have done something wrong, because it messed with his genes. So here I am." She grinned. "I'll have to show you when it's sunny." She replied.

Jerrod shrugged. "She split up with her boyfriend a while a go and she's still stabbing herself because of it. She thinkgs it's all her fault and she should have just given him a break." Then he nodded in agreement. "History of Magic is a major bore. I end up doodling and I don't even like art." Jerrod was liking this conversation. Usually he ended up getting bored when he was talking to other people. "I can't sing. I just give it my best shot. Plus, I'd never be able to show you up. You're way to amazing for me to do that."
Jerrod laughed at Riley's story. Apparently she was very mental." He grinned. "I'd like to see it. I think it would look pretty cool on you."

Riley nodded when Jerrod explained about his sister. "That really sucks. But too much drama for you I think. You should just have a holiday sometime. . .get away from it all." Riley sighed. "You need to go somewhere that you would have heaps of fun at, so you don't have to worry about everything. Just for a little while." She added. Riley laughed when Jerrod said that he doodled during HoM. She was glad that he didn't like the subject either; though, she was yet to find someone who did.
Riley laughed through the blush that was showing on her cheeks, trying to take the attention away the redness now showing. Thankfully it was night. "I'm sure you can sing - you're just being modest." She replied with a smile. Riley grinned when Jerrod said he thought that her hair would look cool. "I sure hope it does!" She exclaimed. "It's cool having something that's unique and . . .my own. I love it."

Jerrod shook his head. "I just stay away from her when she gets at her worst. She likes being alone because she can think properly. If there's someone there she tends to try and bite their head off." Jerry laughed at what he said and looked at Riley. "Where would I have heaps of fun?? The only time I have that is when I'm with family and that's where the stress is." Jerrod always had fun with his siblings and mum but that was impossible when they were all in such bad moods. Plus, last Jerrod heard his mum was adopting a load of kids. He wasn't looking forward to meeting all of them.
Jerrod shook his head. "I'm not modest. I guess I'm OK but I'm nothing special." He shrugged. "I know what you mean. I love having a huge family because hardly anyone else does. It's great fun seeing people's faces when I say it."

Riley laughed at Jerrod's comment about his sister. She would definitely not do well at that situation, because she wouldn't be able to help herself but try to help his sister, if she saw her upset. "Are you close with your sister?" Riley asked.
Riley looked up at the stars in thought when Jerrod asked where he could do to have fun. She found it a fair enough comment that he only had fun with his family - Riley had fun with her family too, so she knew how it could be. She looked back at Jerrod with a small smile on her face. "Well, it would seem that you, Jerrod, are in a little bit of a pickle. Although, you do have fun with me, don't you? That's a start I suppose." She grinned.
Riley laughed when he said he wasn't anything special. "Aw, you are special Jerrod! But alright, I'll take your word for it." She grinned again.

Jerrod nodded. "Yeah. I spent most of my time with her until her and Logan broke up. Now she's just turning moody all the time. I sucks really but I've gotten used to it." Jerrod liked being by himself so he didn't mind Lily not being around.
Jerrod thought about what Riley said. "Well, yeah. I'm having fun now. But I used to have unbeatable fun with my family. Most times we would end up in fits of laughter because we were having so much fun. Steve and Nick always completed the fun but they're in Hogwarts Scotland." Jerrod loved his brothers. Woody was the only one who was anywhere near being a pain in the butt and even he was great. Dervish was the best though. Ever since Jerrod's dad died, Dervish had been the person he looked up to.
Jerry laughed at what she said. "You'd better believe it because otherwise Lily will show you how much she thinks I'm rubbish." Lily only joked about that of course so it was good fun.

Riley sighed. "Well, hopefully she'll let go of it someday. How long has it been since they've broken up?" Riley asked. She smiled at his comment about having fun with his family. "Ah, I understand; it's true, nothing can quite beat family fun. I used to have a blast with my brother, he is the coolest guy I know. What made Steve and Nick go to Hogwarts Scotland?" She asked, interested in learning about his family. Family relationships were at a high value for Riley, and was glad to know that Jerrod loved his family.
"What? She thinks your rubbish? I've only known you for a little while, and I already know that you are definitely not rubbish." She grinned at Jerrod.

Sorry about the absolute crap-ness that is this post! Please find it in your heart to forgive me

Jerrod shrugged. "I hope so. It's been a few months since they broke up and she's still beating herself up because of it. I don't know how long she's going to be like it. I just hope it wears off soon." Jerrod hated seeing Lily hurt the way she was. It was bad enough seeing his mum hurt because of most things and his cousin hurt because his other cousin and now his brother because his sister-in-law but he also had to deal with his little sister because of her ex. It was just filling his head too much.
Jerrod laughed at Riley. "She doesn't really. She just jokes around all the time saying that I need singing lessons and stuff like that. She's a better singer than me. In fact, she's more talented with most things when it comes to music. She plays guitar, drums and sings." Jerrod admired his sister's talents but he knew he was smarter than her and she looks up to him because of that.

Hmm. I don't know. I might need a present to make up for it. :p

Riley sighed seeing the hurt in Jerrod's eyes. She knew how hard it was to see someone in your family upset, or in pain. She decided she didn't want to make Jerrod talk about it anymore, so she just shook her head, but didn't respond. Riley didn't want the night to remembered as a sad night, rather one of fun and good memories.
Riley smiled, nodding her head as Jerrod explained about his sister joking. "That's cool! I wish I were more talented! Maybe I should get off my lazy butt, and start learning some stuff." Riley grinned. "Are you into Quidditch Jerrod?" Riley asked.

OOCOut of Character:
Haha, and what type of present would that be?

Jerrod nodded. "It is cool. It separates you from other people and makes you less bored of your life." Jerrod suddenly had a thought. "Hey, how about I teach you guitar?? The basics aren't too hard." He shrugged. "We could meet up on the lawn once a week or whatever. I'll bring my guitar and ask my sister if you can borrow hers. She'll probably say yes otherwise I can ask my mum to post my other one to me." Sam always posted things to Jerrod when he asked for them. She didn't have much else to do.
Jerrod smiled at what Riley said. "I like it but I don't play it. If I did I'd probably be a chaser. I've played a few three on three games with my siblings but never a proper game and I don't think I ever will." Jerrod didn't know if he wanted to be in a proper game. It was too much dedication. "What about you??"

Riley's eyes lit up when Jerrod suggested teaching Riley the guitar. There were two major bonuses with this - she gets to learn the guitar, and she gets to spend more time with Jerrod. A smile grew up to her eyes, and she nodded her head vigorously. "That would be fantastic; it will be so much fun. Oh I'm so excited, because now I'll actually have the motivation to keep at it as well. And that would be so sweet of your sister, I'll understand if she says no though. I can always owl my mom too! I'm sure she would probably be happy that I'm taking up a new hobby, something that I'll stick to. I am so excited!" Riley exclaimed.
"I'm kind of the same. I've never played a 'proper' game, but I really love it. I'd probably be chaser too! I'm thinking about maybe trying out for the team next year, but I'm not sure how good I'll be, because I've only ever played with Nevaeh, Braxton, and his friends. But I still think it's worth a try, right?" Riley replied.

OOCOut of Character:
I'll think about it ;)

Jerrod liked seeing Riley so happy. It made him smile more than he already was. She just seemed to make him feel all bubbly inside and it made him want to spend more time with her. He hadn't felt this happy in so long-probably before his dad lost his mind and went mad on everyone. "It'll be great fun. I've never taught anyone before though so I don't know whether I'm any good at it or not. You'll have to tell me if I'm doing anything wrong." He chuckled as he spoke. Teaching wasn't something he ever saw himself doing but there was a first for everything. "I might do but I don't think I'll get in. I've got too much else to think about to keep my head in a game. Although, it may be something to keep my mind off of everything else. Might as well give it a go and see what happens."
