Five nights back at Hogwarts and someone was already making mischief. Damide himself was breaking the rules by being up past curfew, but he hated sending letters home when anyone else was around. He wanted to spend some time with his owl and contemplate the letter in peace. He was on his way down from the owlery when he heard giggles and whispers coming from around the bend. Damide was shy, but he was curious above all things, and couldn't help having a peek to see what was going on.
A very large game of spin-the-bottle had been started by some naughty sixth years, and there were a few younger students, too, that had crept up after word had spread. Damide felt a thrill in his chest at the idea of flouting the rules so flagrantly, and with a quiet word to the nearest girl in the circle, he received a giggle and an invitation to sit down.
The Ravenclaw felt like he would have died if the game had gotten amorous, but currently it was operating under mostly truth-or-dare rules. His heart jumped every time the tip of the bottle slowed near him- would he play it safe and pick truth, or make a fool of himself with a dare? The brunette envied the students who relished in their dares and got the whole group laughing, even Damide, who'd barely smiled over the Autumn break, much to Desideratus and Demeter's despair. He longed to have their courage. Perhaps tonight, he'd find it.
His heart leapt to his throat when finally the bottle landed on him. Damide tried to smile and look confident, but he was a long way off from feeling comfortable in the group. He kicked himself forward mentally and heard himself say "Dare," although it came out a little strangled. A kind boy opposite him in the circle gave him an encouraging grin, and Damide smiled back and nodded his thanks. Not everyone could be a daredevil, but damned if he wasn't going to participate.
