Mark was running around the Harbour with his t-shirt and shorts on. He had the music on so loud that the people 3 feet ahead of him could hear the lyrics. He was so sweaty that his shirt stuck to him. Mark ran on the border of the ocean, and stopped for a few minutes to catch his breath, but his eye caught the water. The water was so nice, and peaceful, so he walked towards it. Taking off his shoes and socks, he put his feet into the cool water and swished around in it. He laughed, as he remembered that he used to do this with his family when he was a tot.

Melodie had come to Obsidian Harbour that morning to relax and take her mind off things. It had been a hard week for her, but things were looking up. As she dipped her slender feet in the cool water she looked up at the clear spring sky. A young man suddenly caught her attention. He too was in the water and he was smiling charmingly at Melodie. "Lovely day isn't it?" she said to the man, smiling and walking towards him.

Mark stopped splashing in the water, a pretty girl was approaching, and his smelly socks were close by. He hoped that she wouldn't notice them. " It's an amazing day." He smiled. " The sun is shining, the water is awesome, and I have a person beside me who enjoys the day as much as I do." He nodded and smiled. " I'm Mark, it's great to meet you." Mark cheekily grinned. " May I have the honor in knowing this pretty girls name?" He asked her.

Melodie smiled sweetly at the charming man standing before her. Melodie was pleased to find somebody else out enjoying the spring sun with her "Its nice to meet you Mark" Melodie said as he called her pretty Melodie blushed, she hadn't heard that in a while. "It's Melodie" she said, she couldn't help but smile at the lovely stranger. Melodie was happy to have company today, she had thought she would be alone that morning. But she was in great company now. Melodie lightly swished her foot through the water as she looked up at Mark.

Mark was struck with such a pretty girl, that for once in his life he didn't know what to do. " That's actually a really nice name." He smiled at her. He was nervous, but hoped that she couldn't tell. " It's great to have company out here." He nodded. " Some people came by here and laughed at me because I was swishing in the water." He nervously laughed. " But their the ones missing out on this." He laughed. " Why are you coming here alone, don't you have a boyfriend or something?" He asked her. " It's pretty hard for such a pretty girl like you to be alone." He smiled at her charmingly.

"Why thankyou" Melodie said to Mark, taking his compliment. She laughed at him, he really was turning on the charm. "No, I don't have a boyfriend. I just broke up with my fiance" Melodie said bowing her head. She really thought she had loved Adam. But she was happy to be free of him, If he didn't love her, there was no point him hanging around. "Do you have a girlfriend?" Melodie asked cheekily. She straightened her summer dress down, not really knowing what to do, she just smiled up at him.

Mark was shocked. He would never think that any man in his right and normal mind would break up with such a great girl. " I don't, she dumped me." He nodded. " She said that, I wasn't attractive enough for her to be seen in public with me." He shrugged. " She wasn't the girl for me any way." He said swishing his feet in the water. " I'm sorry to hear that, about you and your fiance." He said looking down at her.

"Thats crazy. I think you're very handsome" Melodie said after hearing what happened to Mark. She looked up at him "Guess we both stuffed up in love" she said cheekily. Feeling the warm water against her cool feet, Melodie lightly splashed some of the water against her legs. As Mark consoled her Melodie began to smile. "Its ok, he wasn't worth it" Melodie said, trying to make herself better. Melodie wanted not to think about Adam so she shook him from her mind, nothing was going to ruin her morning with her kind new friend.

" Aww, shucks." He made a girl handmove. " Yeah, I guess we did." He nodded. " But I think that we were with the wrong people." Mark said. He splashed some of the water to Melodie and laughed. " You deserve someone better." He nodded, " If you ever tell me the name of your fiance and I meet him, I will personally make sure he doesn't have a happy life." He said seriously, but then smiled. He splashed some more water to Melodie. " Do you have any siblings?" He asked her smiling.

Melodie laughed sweetly as Mark splashed her lightly, she splashed back, wetting his legs. Melodie gingerly pulled her dress over her head to reveal her swimsuit. She walked further out into the water and smiled back at Mark. "I have a sister, but I barely know her. Its complicated. I feel more close to my cousin" she explained. "Well are you coming?" Melodie asked Mark as she jumped out into the harbour, splashing in the water.

Mark laughed, " I have six siblings, you don't know how hectic that was." Mark took off his shirt, leaving him with his shorts on. " Of course I'll join." He dived into the water, swimming over to Melodie. " I have 3 sisters and 3 brothers, it was on hectic house, but now all the girls except one who's the youngest is pregnant, thank Merlin that we all moved out because if we didn't one of my sisters would've killed me by now." He smiled splashing water at her.

Melodie playfully splashed water back at Mark as she listened to him talk about his family. She smiled, today was going to be a great day, Melodie could feel it. "wow, that is some family!" Melodie exclaimed, she didn't even know what it was like to have a family, hers was so complicated. "Ooh its getting a little cold" Melodie said, running out of the water and onto the warm grass in front of the harbour.

Mark laughed. " Trust me, it is." He said splashing around some more water. " It actually kind of is." He said stepping out of the water. " Oh, the sun feels great." He smiled letting the sun go on his back, " I love the sun." Mark added. " Is this where you currently live?" He asked her. Mark had been living in Germany for some time, he learnt a few German words here and then, but it was a tough language.

Melodie slumped down onto the warm grass and dried herself down, she watched as Mark joined her. "Yeah, the sun's great" she said looking up at the lovely clear sky. Melodie watched as Mark sat down the sun shining on his muscley back. "No, I'm actually living in Bondi right now" Melodie replied "I just came down for a day, to get away from it all" she continued. It had been a big week and she thought Obsidian Harbour was just the place for a nice relaxing day. "I packed a picnic, I'm sure there's enough for one more" she said smiling.

Mark smiled. " Where is Bondi exactly? I've heard of it, but I don't know where it is." He kept on smiling. " Are you sure? If not we can always go get something to eat from one of the restaurant, but of course that would be on me." He nodded. " I'm guessing that we both had a hectic week?" He asked smiling softly.

"Its in Australia Its a beautiful place really, so warm and loads of lovely beaches" Melodie smiled, thinking of her new home and remembering how reluctant she was to move. But Izaak had persisted and she was all the better for it. Melodie thought of Bondi now and couldn't bear to think of leaving it. It was such a peaceful place, it was just what she needed. "I don't mind either way" Melodie said, admiring Mark's chivalry. She pulled a shawl around her shoulders as a cool breeze began to spoil the warm sun shining down on them.

Mark nodded. " I'd love to visit there then." He swiped his hair to the side. " Hmm, let's compromise." He said. " I'll go pay for it, and we can eat here." He said getting up. " I'll run to the nearest shop, but first gotta put my shirt on,and shoes." Mark walked over to put his shoes on, slipped his shirt back on and went back to Melodie. " What would you like." He asked her smiling.

"You would love it" Melodie replied thinking of Bondi again. "Sounds good to me" she added, listening to their lunch compromise. Mark was being so kind to her, she hadn't been treated that way in a long time, and she was loving it. She had only just broken up with Adam, but she felt a connection with Mark, she knew in her heart that she might not be ready to trust a guy again, not just yet anyway. "Anything vegetarian" Melodie told Mark, hoping it wouldn't be too much of a bother.

Mark nodded and went on his way to the shops. He could feel his feet pounding on the ground. He walked into a shop and ordered two salads, and two water bottles. He quickly paid and ran back to the harbour. He gave Melodie her salad, " Is that alright?" He asked her sitting down next to her.

A sudden shivver was sent down Melodie's arm as Mark's arm brushed across hers, before handing her a salad. Melodie looked up into his stunning eyes, briefly becoming lost in them before snapping herself out of it "Oh thankyou" she exclaimed smiling dumbly up at his handsome face. She had no idea what to do, she was so out of touch. She wondered if she even remembered how to kiss? But ot didn't matter, she wasn't ready for a relationship. But something kept nagging in the back of her mind that a guy like Mark was just what she needed to get ober Adam, to help her trust men again. "Thankyou" she stumbled out of her mouth, lost for words.

Mark nodded and smiled. " No sweat, really." He laughed and sat down on the grass beside Melodie. Her hair glistened in the sun, it was super pretty, he just wanted to touch it but he had to restrain himself from looking like an idiot infront of her. " I didn't know which dressing you wanted, so I guessed Caesar." He said. " I hope that's ok, if not I can go get another one if you'd like." He asked her, getting ready to stand up.

Melodie sensed Mark looking at her too, she tried to look away from his eyes, but they seemed to be pulling her into him. She took a deep breath in "No, no its fine" she said, putting her hand out to stop him from getting up. She smiled as he sat back down next to her, his eyes back on hers again. Melodie could feel the tension between the two as they sat on the long grass. She gently slid her fingers through the long grass, trying to fight his gaze, trying not to stare at him. It was hopeless, only a few seconds later she felt herself sitting closer to Mark, looking him as he tossed his hair back.

Mark nodded and sat back down. He was happy that Melodie liked his choice in salad dressing. Mark was really liking Melodie, more than the other girl that broke up with him. " I don't understand how your ex fiance could've left you." He said giving a smile and flicking back his hair. " I truly don't, why someone would leave such a beautiful and whole hearted girl is beyond my comprehension." He said looking at her.

Melodie chuckled as Mark spoke, he was so kind, so charming. "I don't know why he left me either" Melodie admitted, her breaths becoming slightly faster as the two got closer and closer to ne another. She really liked Mark. Melodie briefly let her eyes drift to the harbour, taking in its beauty as the sun became to return to them, shinig down on her shoulders Melodie sipped her shawl from her shoulders and let it return to the ground. Moving her eyes back to Mark's she saw how he looked at her and hoped he felt like she did.

Mark smiled, he didn't know that much on how to react to such a pretty girl. He didn't know if he should tell her up front right now that he's nervous. But he hoped that she could tell. " Oh, forgot to take my shoes off." He laughed, quickly taking off his shoes and socks and letting his feet nestle in with the grass. " Melodie- I..., your very pretty." He smiled. " I really, really find it hard taking my eyes off of you." He nodded looking at her.
