AJ was not normally a nervous person, but as he stood in front of Professor Adler's office, he felt apprehensive. He had wanted to come to her from the moment she had mentioned that she had been an auror, and now that he had a free moment, he knew he had to do it. He hesitated a little longer, then took a deep breath and knocked on her door.

Geo felt more secure in her role now that she'd fully replaced Professor Waldgrave, and a sense of excitement that the bonds she made with her students could last for more than just a semester. Opening the door to her office, she saw one of the first years from her latest batch of students, "Hi," the blonde smiled, moving out of the way so he could enter. "AJ, right?"

AJ stepped into the office and nodded at the professor as she asked to confirm his name. He was a little surprised she had remembered. "Er, yeah. Is this a good time?" He asked, running his hand through his hair. "You said students could ask questions about being an auror and stuff, and I have a few questions..." he trailed off. "I think it's really cool." He added after a moment.

"Of course!" It was as good a time as any and she would have made time for her students. As AJ came into her office, Geo closed the door behind him before moving toward her desk. During the lesson, Geo had seen something in AJ although she was sure she was jumping to conclusions, but the way the first year now approached her with questions about being an Auror made her wonder if she had been on the right track. She gestured to the chair on front of the dark wooden table. "I'm always happy to talk about being an Auror, AJ," she replied warmly, two small glasses landing neatly on the desk between them, golden liquid filling them without Professor Adler making a move. "Are you interested in becoming an Auror one day?" If he was, it would be the first student she'd taught that knew that was what they wanted. At least, beyond her step daughter.

AJ sat down in the chair, feeling slightly more at ease now Professor Adler had said he was welcome and that she was happy to talk about being an Auror. He watched the glasses fill up and tilted his head a little, wondering what was in it. He guessed one was for him, but he didn't want to grab it before she confirmed it. It'd be kind of rude, and his mother had always taught him to be polite. "Thank you." he said instead. "Yes, I am. I want to be an Auror." He said firmly, ignoring the doubt in the back of his mind whenever he said those words. The reminder of the nightmares he had about it. "My dad—" he cut himself off, hesitating. Then he decided he might as well tell her. "My dad was an Auror. He passed away." He said, able to say the words without any outward emotion by now.

Professor Adler's face lit up when AJ said he wanted to be an Auror, the memories of herself as a first year and in a similar boat flooding back. She had so many questions, although she knew she had to remain professional too for his sake. Before she could ask anything however, AJ went on to confirm that he was who she'd initially thought he was, the smile dropping from her face. She paused for a moment, considering how to proceed. "The moment you stepped foot in my class, I had a suspicion." Geo hadn't really experienced her own loss before. She was an orphan, but she'd never known her parents, and only had the experiences of her peers to go off. Even then however she knew how it could affect lives. "You resemble him," Geo didn't know if that was what AJ wanted to hear, although maybe if he was trying to be like his dad, it was surely a good thing.

She edged one of the glasses toward the first year. "This is Golden Milk," she added, "Turmeric, Cinnamon and Maple Syrup," it was supposed to be good for health in the winter, "help yourself". It may have be a questionable drink, but Geo wanted to give all her students as much variety as possible while they were here. "I learnt to make it while I was on patrol," she continued, "there was this little old lady making it at a stall, handing out mugs of it on the street." It was nice to meet new people while on the job. Most people thought being an Auror meant you were constantly on the go, but that wasn't always the case.

"I never worked with your dad, but I knew of him," She'd seen him around the offices for the most part. When they'd been informed of his death and how it had come to be, it had shocked a number of them, reminding them of the dangers they faced on a daily basis. It was a reminder that it was the one career that even if you weren't actively chasing down potential criminals, you could never truly lower your guard. "Did he tell you much about his work?" she asked curiously.

AJ felt like all the wind was knocked out of him as Professor Adler said she'd had a suspicion and that he resembled his dad. Those simple words were nearly enough to make him cry, but he forced the tears back. "You knew him?" He asked breathlessly.

He barely listened as the professor explained the drinks, taking it without a word. He was looking at Professor Adler intently, wanting her to say more about his dad. He felt a slight stab of disappointment when she said she didn't know him personally, but maybe that was for the best. This already felt surreal. He cleared his throat, feeling like he forgot how to speak for a moment. "Sometimes." He said. "Not— not too much, I was pretty young." He looked down at his drink. "I want to be an auror too," he said quietly.
