Dominic had his back rested up against a tree beside the lake. He flicked open the black leather book and pulled a pencil from his robe pocket. He used his knees to support the book, the pencil was poised above the page ready to draw. He began to sketch the outline of the lake. He sketched the trees, everything he saw except he decided to add a tentacle of the giant squid coming out of the water. When he thought it was done, he put down his pencil and held the drawing out in front of him. Dom shook his head and tossed it aside, frustrated with all the mistakes he made. In reality, it was an exceptionally good picture but only looked for the mistakes.

He picked up his sketchbook, brushed some dirt of it, flicked over the page and started a drawing on a new page. He drew the same thing and when he was done he held it up and examined it. He decided that he was happy with the sketch, so he closed the book, placed it beside him and looked out over the lake. He stared out, hoping to catch a glimps of the rumoured giant squid.
