Like any good first year, Flynn had been doing a lot of exploring just to make sure he never ended up getting horribly lost on his way to class. Not that he supposed he cared much if he did get lost and ran a little late, but he simply didn't like the idea of getting lost. Hogwarts was a big place and with what felt like even bigger grounds. They must be filled with all sorts of secrets and hidden pathways and lost rooms, he had decided, and he was going to find each and every one of them. That had been the plan, anyway. But now he just found himself quite distracted from his original plan.

He was stood in front of the Rosebush, frowning at the little plaque as he put his hands on his hips. "A first year died?" The plaque and memorial looked old, years old, much older than him, anyway. But wasn't Hogwarts supposed to be a safe place? It was a school, so why on earth was this plaque and little memorial trying to tell him otherwise. "It's not actually true... is it?" If it were he would be a little worried.

Lily was bored so she decided to go and explore a bit. She has been and the lake front before, but never at the rose Bush. So today was the day to go take a look . As she walked toward the Bush she saw a boy , she couldn't tell how old he was from the back. But despite that she walked closer and said " Hi, I'm Lily. This is kinda creepy don't you think? A first year dying at school..." She hoped she wasn't to forward, but anyways...

He barely registered the girl next to him, instead, all of his attention was just on the bush they were standing in front of. "No, can't be real," he decided after a moment with a shake of his head. "I bet it's one of those... one of those..." he couldn't think of the word he wanted to use, clicking his fingers as he tried to think of what he wanted to say, but he couldn't come up with it. "One of those thingies," yes, thingies, great work. "You know?" He gave an almost exasperated sigh, finally turning his head to the other girl. "Something to scare us into not going into trouble or doing anything dangerous."

She noticed that he didn't really focus on her . But when he eventually spoke to looked at him. It has to be real , They won't joke over a death. Lily thought to herself before repling " Maybe. But I don't think it's a thingie." Lily knew what he meant but didn't know the word. " Im pretty sure it's real though ." Lily replied with a shrug

He had thought his thingie explanation was a pretty good shout, but apparently this girl thought otherwise. She even seemed to think that this was real and not a scare tactic. "How can it be real?" He questioned, brows knitting into a frown as he looked back at the little plaque at the rose bush. "It's saying a first year died. Like, actually died. This is supposed to be a safe school, so why would someone die here?" No, he just wasn't going to buy that one, shaking his head again as he made a small noise under his breath. "Nope," he popped the 'p' a little as he spoke, "It's gotta be fake."

Lily listened closely as he talk. What he said made sense really. How could they possibly lie about a child's death. " Do you really think they would lie about something this serious? " Lily asked.
She looked at the boy still not having the slightest clue who he was. " Who are you anyways? " Lily asked while frowning. She was talking to a stranger ...

"Maybe it's not the Professors, could just be a joke from someone else. We don't know who put this sign here," maybe a student thought it was funny to try and scare some of the first years. Though it did look pretty old, he did have to remember that magic could very well be involved. "Flynn," he just offered his name without giving the girl a second glance, instead, he was now studying the writing on the plaque in front of the rose bush pretty closely, trying to see if he could spot any mistakes, something to confirm his theory that this was all just some joke made in poor taste.

" Well maybe , but if your theory is right.. It's a real nasty joke!" Lily said. The boy was really really interested in the plaque. He didn't seems to like socialising, but instead of taking it personally Lily just replied " Well nice to meet you Flynn."
She looked at the plaque closely , But she couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with it .
It made her wonder: Why can't he just except that it's true?

Of course, he wasn't just going to accept the fact that a first year could have died at Hogwarts. Because that would mean any one of them could die as well. An Flynn had absolutely no intention of dying at Hogwarts, especially not when there was so much for him to do with his life. But studying the plaque didn't yield any answers, so the curly-haired boy let out a huffing sound, straightening up again, the frown still curving his lips. He wasn't even really acknowledging the girl at this point, or really paying much attention to what she was even saying. This mystery was just far more interesting to be thinking about.

The boy was really irritating Lily and she wasn't one to make mad so she decided to find out what his problem was "What is your problem Flynn?" Lily asked while shaking him by his shoulders

He had been lost in his thoughts for just a moment, but when the girl suddenly started shaking him around that did rather pull him out of his head. "Hey!" He snapped, instantly using both hands to shove the girl away from him, "I don't have a problem and I don't appreciate being shaken around like a rag doll. What do you think your problem is?" What made her think that was an alright thing to do?

"Well if you should know... I came here trying to be NICE to you and you won't even pay the slightest bit of attention to me! " Lily said while stumbling to the ground. This boy is SICK... Lily thought to herself . He pushed her so hard she fell. " Why on earth would you do that? "

Well, that was just a load of rubbish and Flynn couldn't help but scoff, not feeling the least bit bad about pushing her so hard she fell over. As far as he was aware, she deserved it. "I didn't ignore you, how is telling you my name and talking to you ignoring you?" What sort of stupid world did she come from if she thought that was called ignoring someone. Sure, he might be more interested in the little plaque and trying to work things out, but he wasn't ignoring her. "And if you don't want to get pushed, then don't just grab onto people and start shaking them. Duh." It wasn't rocket science and she had basically been asking for it.

If there had been any hope of the two of them getting along, then that was well and truly gone now. But Flynn found that he didn't care too much. Why would he want to be friends with someone like this in the first place?

"Well Mr know it all... In that case I'm sorry okay? I was looking for a friend not a enemy..." Lily realized that if she didn't say sorry he wouldn't either.. And also she had a frien in mind not a agrument. So the only way that they might ever be friends is if she apologized. Because he is too good for it

Friend? Did she seriously think he would want to be friends with her after that little show? Well, she had another think coming. "Well, you're not going to find a friend in me," maybe if she hadn't been so annoying and started shaking him like that. He might not have minded a partner to discover the truth behind the supposed death of a first year. But if he was going to do that, he didn't want to do it with this Lily character. "And you can say sorry all you want," it might even be amusing to watch her try and apologize all the time to get on his good side, "But it's not going to make me suddenly like you."

Lily shrugged and smiled. She tried.if She said it once and she meant it, if that is not good enough, then nothing will be. She wanted to be friends but..."I tried apologizing. I meant what I said. It's up to you now..."Lily replied with a little smile. Either way she would still find out about the death of that first year.

She was being annoying again and Flynn simply scoffed at her. "Up to me? What's up to me? I already told you I don't like you and that's not going to change." And he would prefer if she buggered off and left him alone now. Or if she was going to continue to stand there, then she would at least shut up and not bother him. But then again, there wasn't really much else to do just standing there. He'd stared at the plaque and gotten all the information he could from it. And the bush just looked like any other bush to him.

"Well okay then. I'll leave you in peace. And if i find out the truth about this I'll let you know. Maybe someday when you're not so childish anymore we could be friends. But until then I hope you enjoy your life at Hogwarts." Lily said and smiled wide. It is his loss anyways...

"Great, now piss off," he didn't need her stupid words and he only scowled harder when she called him childish. As if they would ever be friends. Flynn never wanted to be friends with someone like her, she was just far too annoying. And what was with that 'enjoy your life at Hogwarts' rubbish as well? God, she was a weird one, certainly not the sort of person that Flynn could ever see himself being friends with. But if she was going to leave, he wanted to give her one last piece of advice. "Don't bother finding me, I'm going to find out by myself," he'd get the truth behind this rose bush and this plaque. And he didn't need some weird girl's help with that.

Lily knew being friendly just made him feel more guilty so as friendliness was one of her specialties she said "Okay, Bey now!" and smiled wide and waved to him. " Enjoy your cleary miserable life"Lily said with a smile

"I'm not miserable," the curly-haired boy was rather quick to snap back, sticking his tongue out rather childishly at the weird girl. And maybe that was a little bit of a lie, he wasn't happy with his life and the way things had completely turned out, but he was hardly going to be honest about that. And if he did decide to ever share what he was really feeling, it would most certainly not be with someone like her.

But he decided that he was done with this bush, for now. If he wanted answers he could just ask one of the Professors, they would be sure to be straight with him on the matter. So, Flynn simply stuck his chin up a little, shouldering rather rudely past the girl as he stomped off, not feeling the least built guilty about anything which had just happened. And he hoped that Hogwarts was big enough so that he wouldn't have to put up with her again. For now, however, he could take his mind off her and get back to properly exploring this place and finding more secrets.
