Although winter was still in full force in New Zealand, Emerson Hart was eager to leave her home to go to Obsidian Harbour. Aside from needing to pick up several books from Flourish and Blotts, she did love the look of it during the winter. When she was a student at Salem and would visit her family she had always loved how desolate it became while the cities in America never seemed to stop, not even the wizarding ones. She never seemed to get used to the pace that Americans ran at, despite being one herself. Emmy loved how serene the location made everyone seem, but perhaps this was just the people she surrounded herself with? Surely, there were high strung people in every corner of the globe. The young witch wasted little time on these musings and dressed for her day so she may take pleasure in the cool hush that was very likely to be placed over the city, even with the school year beginning so shortly. Her lithe body was clad in a pair of dark denims that one might have painted on her body as they fit so closely and so perfectly and her frilly blouse was covered by warm cardigans and a pea coat that had a belt around her waist. Aside from this, a pair of very basic black boots were keeping her feet warm as she touched snow after apparating from her apartment to the middle of Obsidian Harbour. While the young brunette was happy, she would be even more so with a steaming cup of coffee in her hands at the moment so she went on to find one where she could take it with her to sip away at while she curiously browsed the shops and the hidden town.

After bidding the shop owner a good day, Emmy coquettishly flirted with the idea of picking up her books and sitting on the docks that overlooked the water that was still somewhat frozen over. Deciding that this would be a lovely way to drink her coffee, she picked up the two books she needed for work and one for her own personal enjoyment although normally books weren't something she spent a lot of time around because she much preferred having her own adventures to reading about them but even so she opened the novel after sitting with one leg stretched out and the other bent at the knee, making her body look like a strange number four. She took a sip of the liquid that was still steaming through the small hole at the lid and relaxed her muscles almost completely at the warmth that overtook her. It was still early in the day so Emmy didn't expect many people around, especially near the docks so she inhaled sharply in shock when she heard distinct sound of someone stepping on the docks. The creaking and the new waves formed in the water just below the docks were enough for her to snap her head around and grip her book tightly as if it were her wand. She was normally not so easily frightened, although being startled was quite the opposite. She often lost track of what was going on around her so when she was brought back it was normally by something that gave her a small shock but, like now, she always relaxed quickly and smiled in embarrassment.

There was the same lonely feeling happening within the young reporter once more. He had really failed in his adventures into make friends. It was hard for him, only in the sense that he had little confidence in what he was doing and wasn't sure that he would ever be well liked enough to have real friends. All in all, Celestyn had long decided he didn't need anyone. As he sat in his apartment on a cold afternoon in New Zealand, the man remembered those winters spent in much harsher winters of Finland. Where snow was often daily in huge mounds. Without which he still didn't feel like it could be winter. Winter in New Zealand was much more mild that he was used to. It was still summery weather in Finland, and the young reporter missed it. He disliked this kind of winter. It wasn't cold enough for him. He had stood at the window of his flat staring out at the moving city below him. Wondering if he should try to do something with his day. He hadn't anything planned. His work for the past week and future week was all ready to go. Which was good. He didn't have that to worry about. The apartment was spotless, though it had a lot of space, Celestyn rarely, if ever slept in his actual bed. He spent more time lying on the semi comfortable couch watching Finnish dubbed reruns of his favourite shows. Celestyn was poorly adjusting to the culture he'd found himself in. As much as he'd grown to like New Zealand, and as much as his english had improved he had little interest in trying to really use it other than for work. He liked having everything in Finnish. He was more desperate to not lose the culture he'd grown up with.

Deciding he couldn't stay in his apartment all day, the blonde grabbed his slightly heavy jacket pulling it around him, grabbing some money and his wand, before turning on the spot and with a small crack disappariting out of his apartment. He hadn't thought too hard about where to go, but it was clear his mind had made this decision without him. He had arrived he could tell, just a little away from the top of Obsidian Harbour. Why there, he didn't know and really couldn't say, but he was happily there with the light afternoon and the small wintery feeling it provided. He wandered down the streets, heading no where in particular. Just waking straight so that he could just enjoy the world around him. He drifted into one of the local shops, and bought himself a small coffee, before heading further down the path. He had no where to be, no time constraints nothing. He was a pretty slow walker in these situations where he had no where to really be. Running a hand through the unruly blonde locks, he made his way to the docks. His eye sight told him there was no one, but as he stepped on to the docks, a small head spun round to glance at him. he smiled sheepishly at this person. A small smile an apology, almost. An attempt at an apology. Even though he'd really done nothing wrong bar startling her. "Sorry" The rough sound of his voice as if he'd woken up, played well with the strong Finnish accent. "I didn't see you" He gave a shrug, and took a sip of his coffee. Unsure as to if to bother saying anything else. He didn't. He offered her one last smile, before walking to the edge of the dock, and sitting down, leggings hanging out the edge as he stared blankly forward to the icy looking water.

Sorry it's so lame

After realizing that there was nothing to be fearful or startled over, Emmy smiled politely, looking over his features briefly so that, if need be, she could remember him. With his handsome face, she figured that it wouldn’t be very difficult to do so. It helped even more as he spoke. The other patron of the docks seemed to be very kind; albeit a little quiet so Emerson smiled once more and responded, "No apology necessary." She took a sip of her coffee then glanced down at her book as she closed it around her finger and turned to the person sitting on the dock. Without thinking too hard about it she said ebulliently, "Nice day, isn't it?" She didn't know if this person wished to have just peace and quiet but if he had, he probably would have turned around rather than stuck with what she could only assume was his plan to look over the water. At least, that's what most people seemed to do. "I'm Emerson, by the way." While the American girl seemed to natter on about trivialities from time to time, she also had a voice so mellifluous that no one ever seemed to mind her tendencies. While she awaited a response, Emmy took another sip of coffee, longer this time, and sighed quietly in contentment as the rich bodied liquid seemed to warm her up from the inside-out. Then, after resting the cup on her thigh her fingers, pink only because she had forgotten to bring gloves, fiddled with the lid, seeming to be just as restless as ever although moments ago one might think her to be a calm, withdrawn person. However, Emmy was too easily intrigued, too easily distracted, too curious to be withdrawn and had always been this way. When she was starting pre-school, instead of crying wildly like all the other children did, she had moved further into the room to play and to ask clumsily worded questions to the teacher.

There were times throughout Emerson's life where her zealous attitude towards life had become a problem but it was never too grave. The worst was when she was eight and her first signs of magic had appeared. She had brought extra attention to each and every one, especially when she made a closed window glass disappear right before a tennis ball that she had thrown was going to break it and get her into trouble. It wasn't entirely her fault because, like anyone else, she had been curious as to how something so strange could happen. Luckily, muggles always seemed to doubt and ignore everything they saw that had a hint of magic in it or she could have exposed it to people while not even knowing the truth herself. Now, Emerson was more sensible in choosing what to say and do depending upon her audience but with this unnamed person she didn't have to worry about such truths being discovered by anyone. The brunette glanced in his direction again, vaguely wondering if he had aimlessly wandered only to find himself on the docks as she had or if he had a purpose sitting here, she had half a mind to ask him but decided it was better not to and returned her gaze to their beautiful surroundings.

Your posts are not lame. If anything mine are but I'm just getting back into RPing so hopefully you can forgive me!

Placing the coffee down beside him, he kept his gaze down at the water. Letting the cool air fill him. Ignoring it as it made the hairs on his arms stand on ends. As a shiver ran down his spine because of it. While this was not as cold as the sort of the winters he was used to, in the grand scheme of things it also wasn't exactly warm. He was waiting for it to get warmer. Though he understood why it was opposite seasons in New Zealand, it still at times confused him, and he sort disliked it. As was imaginable. Since he had spent so much time in a country where June, July and August were summer months, not winter months. It was a difficult mindset to break. He wasn't entirely sure what it would lead to, or if he'd ever be used to, he guessed not for a long while. Instead now, he was happy to just enjoy the light cold breeze that blew slowly, but strong enough to cause strands of his blonde hair to dance in front of his eyes. Reaching down he grabbed his coffee and took a long sip of the warm liquid, that had grown colder in the few minutes where he'd left it untouched. He cursed his decision to not go for a magic cup that kept the drink warmer. He'd decided against it, thinking he'd head home soon after the purchase. Where he would put on some ramen noodles and watch the finnish reruns he wasn't watching at that very moment. It was odd for the wizard. He had a proper job, and yet, he had no one to share his happiness over it with. He desired to not spend it with his mother and her new husband, and he was miles away from the muggle friends he cared about. Watching reruns of his favourite shows in finnish, and every so often eating food that more closely resembled some of the times he'd had in Finland was all he had currently. He looked over to the girl as she spoke. He barely made out what she said. While they weren't sitting too close, he'd been lost in his world, and unsurprisingly upon that happening his ears picked up little, and much less english. He understood it fine, but it was just that he wasn't listening at all. He hadn't expected her to say anything.

She commented on the day, and at this, Celestyn looked up at the sky above them. It was slightly overcast, the sun was sitting low in the sky, as it did during the winter months here, as well as it would do back home. He then looked out towards the water. It was nice, that much was true. He could see the beauty that was around him. He could, though he wasn't as interested in it. "Yeah" He replied somewhat lamely, the gruffness of his voice still hadn't faded. He raised the coffee to his lips and took another sip. Wiping his lips with his jacket sleeve, noticing with the exposed hand that since he hadn't shaved that day, or the day before, he'd amassed a light amount of stubble. He didn't like when he grew a beard, it wasn't the most appealing thing. Light stubble was alright, but at the same time, he didn't like too rough. The girl, or woman, he should say, spoke again, introducing herself as Emerson. He'd always believed that to be a guys name. He knew one other Emerson who was a friend of a friend who was from England, the guy was a bit of prick, but he had been a guy. He looked to her, and wondered if she was in fact female. Though knowing it would be incredibly impolite to ask. He stared at her blankly for a few seconds, saying nothing, "Celestyn" He knew his name wasn't actually Finnish, his mother's parents had been originally from Poland, in the few words he had spoke, it was not entirely noticeable that his accent was Finnish. Though, he doubted that she would be able to tell a Finnish accent from a line up. He looked out at the water. Lifting the coffee cup and resting it on his legs, wrapping both hands around it. Gaining little in the way of warmth from the small cup.

"Isn't Emerson a boy's name?" Celestyn who was usually fairly good at keeping his thoughts to himself, let the words slip. He looked round at her, and gave a very small apologetic smile. Unsure of how to explain to her that he meant nothing by it, but that he was curious. Why name a little girl would be named that upon birth. She was pretty, from where he was sitting he could tell that she was a very stunning woman, Emerson almost fit her, but he was curious. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be so blunt about it" He shrugged slightly. Knowing it wasn't the best way to strike up conversation with a woman but seeing nothing else.
