Okay, so this is most definitely an alternate universe! So don't go getting any ideas. This is just something that Cyndi and I cooked up for a little entertainment. Well, we like it anyway

Kiara was tired, she did not get much sleep at all last night. Her stupid roommates had made it pretty impossible to get any sleep and so she had spent most of the night trying to block out the talking of the idiots in her dorm. People still spoke about the article in RHI. It was so difficult to spend any time with Athena now. They had to plan so carefully, and even then it was never for very long because someone would have to appear where ever they are and disturb them. Sometimes Kiara thought that the entire school was out to prove the claims in RHI. Of course no one had any proof so it was all just rumors and speculation, but Kiara could not help but wonder if RHI actually did know. Had she and Athena slipped up somewhere? They were so careful. Even more so after the RHI thing. Mostly it was for Athena's benefit. The fact that Kiara was a girl and not a Pureblood was a source of much grievance for the other Slytherin. Although Athena never complained, Kiara could tell. She knew Athena all too well. Sometimes she thought she knew her better then she knew herself, even though she knew so little about Athena's home life, but that did not matter to Kiara. She loved Athena, and she was sure that Athena loved her too, even if neither of them had said it. The fact that they took some much risk in meeting up proved it. As it was, Kiara was on her way to the Abandoned classroom on the second floor. This was their usual place. They tried to get here most weekends, but it all depended on what they were doing. Often times, Athena had to skip out because of Prefect duties, but lately they had been lucky. Kiara played with her hair as she waked along the corridor and picked a piece of string off of her jacket. She was pretty sure she had seen Athena sneak out of lunch earlier, but she could have been wrong. On days they were going to be meeting up later, she always sat with Justin, so that people wouldn't notice when they snuck off. Kiara was pretty sure that Justin knew about them, because he had covered for her before, but she had never asked, and he had never said.

Kiara walked up the stairs and along the corridor, nodding at a couple of people walking along as she went. The Abandoned classroom was not that much further and so she started to get both nervous and excited. However, her face was one of boredom. If she was walking along a corridor, looking excited, people would talk. She supposed that it was lucky that both she and Athena were good at hiding their emotions. She bit her lip, she was always so worried that someone would find them. Especially their roommates. Athena's family would be even worse. Kiara didn't even want to think about what would happen if one of Athena's creepy cousins ever found out. She would not want to be around then. She continued walking and soon came up to the Abandoned classroom. She quickly slipped into the room when no-one was around and looked around the room, searching for Athena. She smiled when she spotted her and walked over to her, wrapping her arms around her from behind. They had not been together for a while, so it was nice to get away. How long it was going to last though, she did not know. "Hey. Did you miss me?" She asked, smiling as she walked around to face her.

Athena glanced at the time once more and finally decided to get up and begin leaving the library. She could hear the whispers as she made her way to the doors, though an icy glare was enough to shut her peers up for a few seconds. The girl’s silver eyes glistened as tears threatened to come to the surface once more. Ever since RHI, her life had been miserable. The story that had been written about Kiara and Athena had been spot on. The two girls spent most of their waking moments together, but so did other best friends. And, they obviously slept in the same space since they were from the same house and in the same year. But, in public, Athena made sure to not do anything that would suggest she was interested in anyone, male or female. It was a very known fact to all of the members of her family that Athena was not allowed to date, and she was not eager to give her father any reason to pull her from the school. For all of the complaining that the girl did about the mudblood situation in the school, she enjoyed the social aspects of the school and couldn’t imagine being isolated in her home to learn magic. When the article had been released, Athena’s heart had moved to her throat, fear that someone from her family would believe the rag and notify her father filling the space where her heart was normally located. She would not be able to lie to him or her uncle, if either of them should ask. Their finding out that Athena’s relationship with Kiara was more than platonic was simply not an option, plain and simple. The Slytherin had spent the days after the article’s release wondering why they had been targeted and how anyone could have learned the truth. Had they not been discreet enough? Had they spoken too close to a window or a door? She was certain that they hadn’t, but not so certain that she was willing to risk further exposure. So, she had ignored Kiara for a few days, but she quickly realized that she couldn’t continue to do that. Not only did it look suspicious for them to suddenly stop speaking to each other, but Kiara had become an important part of her life, and for better or for worse, they had to find a way to make things work…so long as they could keep things secret, of course.

As she walked, Athena held her books to her chest, staring down the students who dared to look in her direction. It was the groups of students that were the worst because she could hear their talk even before she’d fully passed them. Turning, Athena was relieved to discover that the corridor was empty. She opened the door to the Abandoned classroom and quickly slipped inside. Her hands were on her hair as she made her way to an empty desk and put her books down. She hoped that Kiara had gotten the message that she wanted to meet with her today. It had always been difficult for them to meet up for very long, but now the task had grown nearly impossible. Athena felt like an Unspeakable whenever she made plans to meet up with Kiara. They spoke not with words but with gestures and glances, trying to convey plans without actually coming right out and saying anything. Athena paced around the room, hoping that Kiara would come. It was Kiara who was usually the first to their meet-ups, but today it seemed that Athena had arrived first. She was not used to this. Crossing her arms, the girl had paced around the room, her fingers drumming on her arm as she did. Every time, she heard a noise she thought that it would be Kiara arriving, but when it wasn’t time and again, she began to grow worried. Not knowing if something or someone was preventing Kiara from joining Athena, the Slytherin grabbed her book and moved towards an empty space where she could practice some spells. She would give Kiara another ten minutes before she would give up and leave. As she glanced over a spell in the book, reading the wand movement required, Athena heard the door click open. A cautious smile crossed her face as she made to turn, but before she could, she was enveloped in a hug. As Kiara came into view, the smile remained on Athena’s face as she looked into the face of her best friend. “I thought you weren’t going to come” she stated, her voice conveying her worry, though she was obviously wrong. Her hand moved to grab Kiara’s as she glanced at the outfit that her friend was wearing. Even before her eyes had fallen on the wedges, Athena knew that Kiara was wearing heels. She still had to look down, but not as much as usual. Glancing back up into Kiara’s blue eyes with a silver one, she took a step closer. “I love when you wear that shirt” she stated, a hand moving to touch the soft fabric. "And yes, I did miss you" she added quietly. It was a pretty color that went so well with Kiara's eyes.

Kiara smiled when she heard the concern in best friends words. Of course she was going to come. They got so little time together alone as it was. She rubbed her hand up Athena's arm in a soothing motion and shook her head. "You should know by now that I spend too much time with you as it is. How could I let you be angry or sad by me not keeping an appointment?" She asked, giggling lightly. Athena was a worrywart, that was for sure. "It just took me a little longer to slip away is all." She said as she looked at Athena's face. Soon though, Athena was examining her clothes and shoes and Kiara got nervous, as she usually did at about this time. Her hand felt warm where Athena was holding it and she had to fight to not immediately look down at the clasped hands, which she quickly moved to intertwine. Should some-one walk in they would be in more then a little bit of trouble. She didn't think she would be able to jump away from Athena fast enough, though maybe Athena would have it in the bag. She smiled, Athena was usually the instigator of what they did in their alone time, but sometimes it was herself. She usually just wanted to be with Athena in whatever capacity was going to allow that. Though she was often saddened by the fact that they had to hide so much. However, when Athena spoke, Kiara went red. That was pretty much why she had worn this shirt. The first time she had worn the shirt was just for a normal day, and Athena had told her that the shirt was great and that she loved it. So that was when Kiara made a conscious decision to wear this shirt every now and then when they were meeting. Of course she could not wear it too often or that would be suspicious, but two or three times a month was fine, it was her favourite shirt after all. "I know, I wore it for you." She stated, squeezing the hand she was still holding lightly.

She knew that Athena missed her. She always missed Athena when they were not in this room. Or one of the other places spread throughout the castle. They had been to the Cliffs once, but it was a little too exposed there, so they hadn't been back there like this in a long while. Of course Kiara did not mind too much, as long as she was happy and Athena was happy, she was fine to stay where ever. Of course, this place was one of the best, they would be able to hear the door knob which would give them some time. "So, what are we doing today?" She asked, stepping away from Athena and sitting on one of the desks and pulling Athena towards her. Desks were certainly fun. And they were so useful too. She looked up at Athena, a mass of different emotions swimming in her eyes. Happiness, Passion, Desire. Each emotion present in only the capacity that Athena could glance. Athena was her best friend, that was true, but there was so much more to their relationship that people just didn't understand, and the only reason why this was so wrong, was because Kiara was not a Pureblood. Maybe if she was, they wouldn't have to sneak around. But Kiara would never voice her thoughts, she didn't have too. They were very good at picking up what the other was thinking and feeling at distance, up close it was almost like they were talking, even when they weren't.

Athena knew she need not have worried, but sometimes it was difficult not to. Their relationship was just so difficult. Athena would be a liar if she said that she'd never thought about whether it was all worth it. The chances that this relationship would be able to continue once she left school were near on impossible. If her dad found out any time, she would never be able to keep dating Kiara. Her father had a way of making people he didn't like disappear and Athena had the feeling that he would be beyond furious at his daughter's relationship. That Kiara was not a pureblood was a fact that bothered even Athena more than she cared to admit so she could only imagine how her father would feel should he learn of his daughter’s recreational activities. It was times like this, when their hands were intertwined, that it was easy for Athena to push her worries to the back of her mind. They fit so perfectly together and Athena continued to look at their locked hands for a moment, a small smile on her face. She forgot about the world beyond the closed door and focused on Kiara, her Kiara. She glanced up as she heard the words that Kiara spoke, her mouth splitting into a grin that showed off her perfect teeth. Athena had noticed that Kiara wore the shirt slightly more often since they’d gotten together. It was sweet that she would do something like that for her. This was why Athena had grown so fond of the blonde before her. She remembered the little things. " For me?" she began, " You shouldn't have."

As their hands separated for the briefest of moments while Kiara moved to sit on the desk, Athena pondered the question. Athena’s face which was usually bordering between expressing boredom and utter disdain showed nothing of the sort in the privacy that the abandoned classroom afforded them. Athena wasn’t paying too much attention to the noises going on just outside the door, but she was just aware enough that she wouldn’t miss hearing the old doorknob turn or the rusty hinges complaining as they swung open. It would be enough warning. It had to be. As Kiara pulled her in, Athena allowed herself to give up control long enough so that she was standing in front of her. Her hands moved, one planting itself on either side of Kiara as she leaned in and looked into her friend’s eyes. She could see the emotions she was feeling mirrored in her friend’s eyes. “I can think of a couple of things” she smirked, her lips quirking as she leaned ever so close. Athena was moving even closer, her head tilting the side, ready to kiss Kiara when she heard the door move. She jumped back, moving to another desk, fear gripping the Slytherin, her heart pounding out of her chest before she realized that someone must have slammed one of the doors down the hall. Sometimes, if the doors were slammed hard enough, they would cause the door to the abandoned classroom to make noise as well. It was just one of those things that came with living in an old castle, and Athena should have been able to recognize the noise for what it was. Glancing up at Kiara, Athena shook her head, embarrassment at her own silliness. Sometimes she was too jumpy. “Sorry” she said as she pushed her hair behind her ears before rounding the desk that she was now between them. “Where were we?” she asked as she walked over to re-join Kiara’s side.

Kiara could not keep the blush from her face. She knew Athena was very fond of this shirt, but every time she wore it, she always got more and more self-conscious about it. She wasn't sure why, all she knew was that if Athena complimented it, it suddenly became a favourite. Maybe she should get Athena to compliment her shoes? She didn't particularly like these shoes. Though she wanted to like them. Kiara smiled at her girl. They were perfect for each other really. What was the saying. 'Your bestfriend is the one whom is perfect for you?' Just so happened that Athena was her bestfriend and her girlfriend in one. Kiara sometimes wasn't even sure what had initially caused them to make this transition from friends to lovers. A word? A phrase? Maybe an action, but it had happened so quickly and it seemed like it was a millennium ago that they had been together. It was sometimes funny, nearly being caught. Then of course there was the serious times. There had been one time in the dorm late at night, but they had done anything except hold hands and talk. Of course as soon as one of their roommates had woken up and spelled the lights on, they had dropped their hands and just continued talking like natural. It was something that they had to be good at. If any-one ever found evidence to suggest that the rumors were true, Athena would be in trouble and Kiara didn't really like her own chances either. What with half of the school being over run by Athena's family, she was surprised that as of yet, no-one knew for certain. She didn't even want to think of what would happen to them if the rumors were authenticated.

Kiara grabbed for Athena as she leaned toward her. Kiara was rather impatient however and was about to pull Athena to her when she suddenly jumped back. Kiara tensed and looked towards the door. Had Athena heard something? She stayed still for several long seconds, before confusion etched onto her face. There was nothing. No sound of the door opening, no footsteps even coming past the door. It appeared that whatever Athena had heard was gone now. She turned her head to look back at Athena. She shook her head at the girl and slipped off of the desk. "Don't worry about it. I would rather we be cautious, then found out. Be jumpy all you like okay?" She said. Besides, it was more dangerous for Athena then herself, or maybe she was wrong about that, but either way, Athena was cautious enough for the both of them. She hugged Athena gently, before dropping her hands to Athena's and pulling her around to the front of the desk again, sitting herself on the edge, once again. She smiled and winked at Athena. "Well, I am pretty sure you were about to kiss me. But... I could be wrong." She teased, wrapping her arms around Athena's waist. She was quite abit taller then Kiara, but it was still more fun for Kiara, when Athena had to put some effort into it. No-one liked a simple love-life after all. She tilted her head slightly and leaned up toward Athena, though she was going to have to be met half-way. That's what happens when your partner is taller then you. Though, she supposed that Athena could sit down next time. Kiara wouldn't feel so short then.

As Kiara reassured her that it was indeed ok to be jumpy, Athena smiled. This was what she liked best about her girlfriend. She understood Athena’s desire and need to keep things private between them without question. It was difficult for Athena to explain exactly what her father would do should he find out about his daughter, but she knew it wouldn’t be good. Axel had been known to make people disappear before and the thought of anything happening to Kiara at the hands of her father was one of her biggest fears. Her father was dangerous, how dangerous she didn’t know. But, she knew that it wouldn’t be roses for either of the girls if they were found out. It was safer all around for them to only be together in the shadows and in hidden corners. At times, Athena was weary of all the hiding and all of the secrecy. Other people could carry on with their relationships in the open, happily parading around the school holding hands and making open declarations of love. That was not in the cards for Athena.

The Slytherin allowed herself to be hugged, something that she wasn’t fond of from anyone else, though with Kiara it was fine. Although she was the taller of the two, she appreciated the times when Kiara attempted to console her, taking the protector role. Athena giggled as Kiara pulled her close once more and spoke again. They were nearly as close as they had been before the brief interruption, and Athena allowed her arms to come to rest on Kiara’s shoulder. She loosely gripped her hands, her arms enveloping the blonde. “Oh. Was I?” the prefect innocently asked as if she had no idea that was what she had been about to do. The tension between them was perfect, and Athena quickly bridged the gap, not wanting to waste any more time. Athena unclenched her hands, caressing the back of Kiara’s neck as she held her close. The world around them disappeared in that moment, at least for her.

After a few long moments, Athena pulled away. She didn’t keep track, but she was fairly certain that she pulled away far more often than Kiara did. It was her overly cautious nature and her need for control that did her in every time. Athena Zhefarovich just didn’t know how to tune either of those things out, though she found it slightly easier to do where Kiara was concerned. Her hand moved to stroke Kiara’s cheek as her silver eyes took in her friend, savoring the quiet moment that they were sharing as she did every time they were alone together. She knew, even if she never spoke of it, that there was a countdown hanging over both their heads, declining as they drew closer and closer to graduation. It was still a long way off, but each day they were one day nearer. Athena forced herself to stop thinking such thoughts, knowing that Kiara would be able to tell. She always knew when Athena was drifting into a melancholic state. “I’m glad Venus was in retrograde today” Athena stated with a sigh as she held onto Kiara’s arms. That was the phrase they used when they wanted to meet up with each other. It was mundane enough that no one had yet bothered to check to see if Venus indeed was in retrograde. Athena certainly had no idea even though she did have an interest in Astronomy.

Danger. It was something that Kiara had faced since the day she and Athena had met that day in the Library. The thought of spending time away from her was daunting to say the least. Yet, they had to remain cautious. They had to be so careful. However, Kiara always tried to keep those thoughts at bay. The more time she spent thinking about that, he less time she spent thinking about the amazing, beautiful person in front of her. Kiara raised and eyebrow at Athena's game. It sometimes upset her that they could not play these games out it the open. But when she really thought about it, even if their relationship was allowed, they would probably still spend most of their time hidden away. Kiara smirked as Athena came closer to her and pressed herself against Athena's body. It was at times like these that Kiara knew that the rest of her life was going to be incredibly dull. Kiara brought her hands up to play with Athena's hair and just let herself relax into the embrace of her lover. When Athena pulled away, Kiara grinned up at her and tugged on her hair playfully before moving back further onto the table. Her feet could barely touch the floor from this position and she looked down at her feet as she kicked at them slightly. It was kind of kinky, sneaking around, making out in an abandoned room. The thought brought a giggle to her lips and she had to bite her tongue to stop it from escaping. This was a conversation she would rather not have with Athena. Even Kiara could still get embarrassed when talking about such things. Especially when it was with Athena.

Kiara pressed her cheek into Athena's hand much like a cat did. It was one of the many ways that Kiara showed her affection with out blatantly saying the words. They were both insecure about all of this and the fact that they were in their last year had not gone unnoticed. In fact, it was becoming increasingly more difficult for the pair to sneak away. Athena was expected to be studying and so was Kiara. If they took too much time together, people would begin to notice. So gradually, their once a week rendezvous, had decreased to once a fortnight, then once a month until eventually, they could only see each other in this capacity on increasingly rare occasions. Soon, she knew that their relationship would come to an end, but she was determined to enjoy whatever time they had left together. Their relationship suited Kiara fine the way it was and she had no overwhelming desire to change it. At least, not yet. "Athena, you really have to stop thinking about that stuff okay." Kiara spoke to her friend as she rested her head against her arms. "I mean, I am glad too, but if we keep thinking about it... you know..." It was hard enough as it was without the constant reminder that they were seeing each other less and less. She had to think of something to get her mind off of all of this. Then she smiled, a silent disco. Kiara stood up from the table and walked to the side of the room, magicing and wizarding radio and silencing the room so that no sound could escape. Then she held her hand out to Athena. "Dance with me?"

x-Sorry its not very good.

If someone were to walk into the room now, they would probably see everything. The two Slytherin women in the room were just too close to move away from each other with any speed. Athena was a bit too distracted to consider this though and she smirked as Kiara tugged her hair before scooting back a little more. She could feel Kiara’s shoes graze against her ankles, her friend’s feet no longer touching the floor. Athena liked her that way, and she remained where she had been standing, not giving an inch as she stared at Kiara. The look on Kiara’s face right now was really intriguing to the Slytherin. She cocked her head to the side, her silver eyes taking in the beautiful face before her, her eyebrows furrowing. “A knut for your thoughts…” she whispered, her hand moving to Kiara’s where she began to absent-mindedly trace the letters of her name onto her lover’s skin. Athena wasn’t sure if Kiara would tell her what she was thinking but she was damn sure going to try to find out. From the looks of it, it was probably something mischievous which is why it intrigued Athena so much. She liked mischievous Kiara in the same way that she liked sweet Kiara and loving Kiara and snarky Kiara. She only liked snarky Kiara when it wasn’t directed at her though, which thankfully didn’t happen often. The two girls got on well, which made sense since they were also best friends. Athena knew that things would never have developed into this if they hadn’t been friends first. The Slytherin didn’t trust many people, but Kiara had stuck by her and certainly earned her trust and then some. She was pretty persuasive when she wanted to be. With a smirk, Athena mused that she could be pretty persuasive when she wanted to be as well.

As she listened to Kiara, Athena was momentarily distracted from her information-seeking. She rolled her eyes, knowing just as well as Kiara did that she would, of course, continue to worry. It was part of her personality and seemed to come as part of the relationship. There were just too many people who couldn’t find out about this, namely anyone whose surname was Zhefarovich. “I’ll try…but you know me” she sighed, her mouth dipping into a frown. The silence that followed made Athena wish that she was being honest about trying. The idea of not worrying was foreign to Athena, and she honestly couldn’t imagine what it would feel like to just not care. It would probably be refreshing , she figured. As Kiara slipped off the table, Athena was tempted to not move and see what Kiara would do. After a moment’s thought, she stepped back and gave her some space. She gazed down at her girlfriend, a curious expression on her face as she went to work with her wand. Athena crossed her arms across her chest and leaned on the table while she watched Kiara work. She recognized the charm she used and her eyebrow rose. “What in Merlin do you have planned?” she murmured, biting her lip as she tried to figure it out. It was much easier to do once she’d seen the radio appear on the table. When Kiara held her hand out to Athena, the Slytherin looked around as if there might have been someone else who Kiara was asking. As her silver eyes drifted back to Kiara, she smiled and pointed to herself mouthing the word ‘me.’ She took a long stride towards Kiara, enough so that their fingertips could touch. “You are such a romantic” she muttered under her breath as she rolled her eyes and stepped in so they could hold each other properly. Athena didn’t like dancing much. Her legs were too long and always seemed to move a half second too slow, making her look like an idiot. Kiara was amazing. She moved with a grace that Athena was envious of. Moving her left hand to Kiara’s waist, Athena waited for Kiara to begin. If she tried to start them off, it would be disastrous. “Lead the way. You know I’ll follow you anywhere, doll” she drawled, a smile on her face as she finished.

Kiara smiled as Athena consented to dance with her. She liked being so intimate like this. It just felt right to have Athena close to her. She had to say that she was glad, she and Athena slept next to each other. That way they could hold hands when no-one was watching. Kiara and Athena had become experts at misdirection and deception. She hated lying to Justin, but she knew that he knew, she just wasn't going to say anything definitive, in case someone overheard. She would have killed herself if she caused Athena any hurt by her actions. The melody of the song was slow, so Kiara swayed in time to the music, directing Athena with the slightest touch. Athena may not be so graceful on her feet, but when she was with Kiara, it just worked. Kiara was a wonderful and most graceful dancer, at least that was what Athena kept saying, Kiara thought that she was rather average, but what did she know, she rarely danced with anyone anyway. Kiara pulled Athena around with her and kept eye contact at all times. This place was so lovely. The second floor had a lovely view of the Green houses and the Quidditch Pitch. Kiara occasionally looked out through the window, taking in that which they would one day no longer see. Sometimes she wished that she had more of a legacy to leave, but there was nothing to be done about it now. Not that she particularly minded whilst she was dancing with her lover. What else could she possibly have wanted. She stepped closer to Athena and rested her head on Athena's shoulder. She could only reach her shoulder when she wore high heels, Athena was ridiculously tall, Kiara had to wonder how tall her father was. Though she had no desire to ever meet the man, for she would likely be killed just for setting eyes on him and that was not what she wanted, not in the least. She would like to live to get old and wrinkly after all. Kiara smirked a little at the thought and was glad that she had rested her head on Athena's shoulder, she didn't want to explain her sadism.

It occurred to Kiara that she hadn't answered Athena's earlier question. Though it was embarrassing, she figured maybe Athena had a right to know, seeing as it did pertain to her, sort of. Kiara stepped away from Athena a looked up at her. "You know, before, I was thinking how kinky this was. Making out on a desk and stuff." She said, the thoughts in her head making her grow red once again. One would have thought she would be used to this by now, but she wasn't. Sometimes she felt sappy and other times she felt hot, it really depended on what they were doing at the time. Kiara turned around and hid her face, she hated talking about her feelings to Athena. It made her feel weak.

xx- Ugh, so sorry about this. I have a current mind blank.
