Second Years Lesson Six

It was strange to think that the semester was already close to coming to an end. The woman was sat behind her desk as the second years began to filter into the room, although she didn't wait for them to sit down before addressing them. "Before you take a seat today, this will be your final lesson, so you have a choice. If you'd rather stay here to practice your wand work on the dummies, you're welcome to but if you would prefer to go to the library to work on the theory." Professor Adler moved to the front of the room, curious to see who would be willing to stay and who would prefer to work in their own environment. Geo didn't mind which they wanted to do so much as she wondered how they would choose to work.

"Your exams will include both practical and theoretical elements so it's important that you brush up on both. If I were you, I'd choose to work on the part you find the most challenging, to make your exams less stressful." Professor Adler moved across toward a black board, tapping it with her wand to reveal some text. "This is what you need to know for the exams, so if there's anything you're not confident about, focus on that. You can always come and ask me too if you have any questions!" She told them, before allowing them to choose what they did next.

Evan slid into his seat as Professor Adler-Cade began going over what would be on the Exam for this semester. Evan couldn't believe that the semester was almost over already! He knew he'd have to take his studies seriously this year, as last year he hadn't done so hot.

Well, he'd better start on revision, then, huh? So, he focused and began writing down some revision notes.
  • Jinxes are small, relatively harmless spells that cause minor annoyances and temporary inconvenience.
  • Hexes are slightly worse than jinxes, affecting the target negatively but not necessarily causing serious harm.
  • Curses are the worst kind of dark magic, causing significant harm or death to the target.
He continued with some of the Jinxes and Hexes they'd learned in class.
  • Jelly-Legs Jinx - turns your opponent's legs jelly-like.
  • Tripping Jinx - causes your opponent to trip
  • Knee-Reversing Jinx - causes your opponent's knees to reverse
  • Antler Jinx - causes antlers to sprout from your opponent's head
  • Stinging Hex - causes allergic-like reactions sprouting from welts on your opponent.
  • Ear-Leeks Jinx - causes leeks to sprout from the ears.
  • Bat-Bogey Hex - causes bogeys to fly out from an opponent's nose and fly into their face.
Evan then did some practice on the dummies.

Huw walked into the classroom but didn't take a seat while he listened to the professor. He decided he would prefer to study in the library so left as soon as he was allowed.
