Family History​

The entire Adler family originate from Germany. The bloodline has been traced back to the 1500's with minimal missing relatives.
The Adler family have always valued their pure blood and have been proud of it. Some took their pride to the extent of murdering the impure and any of those who sought to save impure.
Slowly, the views did begin to change and though marriage, e.t.c, with a muggle/muggle-born is punishable by death (in the family's rules) the acceptance of other blood statuses has increased.
In 1966, the Adler family rule 'thou shalt not lay with he or she of impure blood' was replaced by the rule declaring that muggles and muggle-borns were not to become of any relation to an Adler.
Though it is mostly untraceable, as Adler's have stuck to the purest blood line when documenting, some relatives broke this rule.
Most were tracked down and killed but a few evaded capture. One such person was Jochen Adler.
Jochen was pureblood but born a squib: Once discovered, his father, Lorenz Adler, decided it would be 'kindest' to kill Jochen. Unfortunately for Lorenz- a man ashamed to have a squib son- Jochen overheard his mother and father discussing the subject and promptly fled. Years later, documents were found, showing that Jochen had joined a muggle school, got a job as an accountant and married a muggle.
Jochen Adler was removed from the family tree entirely upon discovery of this information and what became of him and his family is unknown.

The Patriarchs of the Adler family were, notably, Gerhold, Gunther and Markus Adler.
The three brothers were perhaps the most powerful of the Adlers alive. Gerhold remained in the family mansion as the Head of the family. He strongly valued blood purity and would often go muggle hunting with his brother, Gunther. Gunther and Gerhold shared the mansion, claiming half for their own. They both believed strongly in blood purity and frowned upon their brother, Markus Adler, who refused to join their killing sprees.
Markus married and had a daughter. He began to write books on why muggles should be treated as equals. These books sparked hatred among pureblood families and, ashamed of their brother blackening the family name, Gerhold and Gunther murdered Markus and his wife. They spared the life of Carolin as she was an innocent child. Yet, nine years later, Carolin, working in Durmstrang's library, attempted to write books of her own and smuggle them in amongst the other books on the shelves. She was found out and killed by Gerhold and Gunther, thus ending the line of Markus Adler.

Kathrin Adler was the first Adler documented to marry someone of impure blood and go unpunished.
This was mostly due to the fact that Kathrin's parents convinced the other Adler family members that Kathrin would exiled from the family on condition that she would be allowed to live. She was never actually removed from the family tree as she and her family hid away for many years.

Liesa Adler, as the oldest Adler still alive, became the Matriarch of the Adler family. She believed strongly in blood purity, yet she did not go out of her way to murder muggles or blood traitors. Liesa had relaxed many rules of the family but would still stand by the Adler name and beliefs as the strong woman she was. Liesa had four children, Joseph, Ruth, Lisbeth and Silvester. She brought Ruth and Joseph both up with choice of whether or not to kill muggles, muggle-borns and blood traitors. While Joseph, the younger of the two, believes in killing for the sake of purity, Ruth has yet to decide. Should she choose to stand truly by the Adler name, then Ruth will inherit the title of Matriach of the Adler family. Should she decide otherwise, her brother, Joseph, will become the family's Patriarch and will be given the option to kill Ruth as a blood traitor. Lisbeth and Silvester, on the other hand, were sent off to live with a very old pureblood wizard (a very distant relative) to learn ancient and dark magic. This was a sort of experiment which Liesa thought interesting to see, immoral as it was. Lisbeth and Silvester, however, believe they are entitled to the Adler estate and plan to return to their old home to take what is 'rightly theirs'. Though Ruth knows of Lisbeth and Silvester's existence (as she was told when she became an adult) Joseph has never been informed and remains unaware.

Daddy gave me a present! It was a great big grey egg and daddy said that I have to take extra special care of it and keep it hidden away so that nasty people don't take it away. I forgot to write because so much has happened. Daddy found out that I was in his library because the egg was hatching and he took it away and I was crying so I crawled through the wall to the library and daddy was shouting for me and he found me and when he asked if I had read any of his books I said no. Am I bad for lying to daddy? He sent me to my room and fixed the crack in the wall and I watched out the window and he took the egg into the forest and when he came out the egg was gone so I asked him about it but he told me not to ask questions and to forget the egg forever. But I wont forget the egg because it was my friend. Mummy has started teaching me more new things like how to read these stones called runes. She says that if I learn this stuff now then I will be top in my class.
