OVERALL Roo grew up as a debutante, with a wealthy family in the southern united states. She was raised to have manners, class, and be delicate. She was homeschooled and thoroughly protected as an only child, especially as a girl. Her family often valued her demeanor and grace over the other aspects of her magical life, and Roo while respectful and following what they wanted always dreamed of more. She often wrote papers, and even whole interviews with fake people, knowing some day she was going to leave the plantation she lived on to become a reporter and see the world.

HISTORY​

Roo was born in the southern states of the US to a loving mother and father, on a plantation. She was raised in the essence of a southern belle. Her mother started her in big dresses and etiquette classes at a young age so she would fit in with the kind of society they lived in. Her magical abilities became apparent when she was a young child. Her parents of course had the option to send her off to a magical school, but they trusted much more for her to see tutors in the comfort of her own home.

At 13 a boy she sometimes climbed trees with in the neighborhood, whom her mother didn't like, brought her flowers and her mother chased him off their porch with a willow switch. She then told her daughter about virtues, and how she needed to be more lady like and hold more true to them.

When she was fifteen she had her only male tutor, a tutor for her NEWT level potions class. He was just a bit older than her, in his early twenties, and very kind. It was the first time Roo had ever had a crush. Though the feelings weren't mutual, when he mother found out she sent the man away and replaced him with a woman. Her mother was a strong woman who still cared for her daughter, teaching her the ways of the world. Alcohol was evil and took lives, man would use her, and that the only thing she could trust was family. Roo naively believed all of this. She stuck close to her mothers side and did not move from the plantation when she became older.

She stayed until her mother died. Upon her mothers death she discovered her diary, and read through it, discovering her mother had always dreamed of traveling abroad. So with the money she was left, she decided to travel and follow the passion she had developed at a young age or reporting on things she felt important to her.
