It went something like this. It had to be the only bad thing about going to Hogwarts. The before term shop, sure this was Obsidian Harbour where everything is cool and magical and a bit more exciting than your average mall in Sydney but shopping was still shopping and it still sucked, muggle or magical. Never-the-less Oliver sucked it up and braved the crowded highs street for his school supplies. His list was folded up in his back pocket, as he hadn't looked at it since the letter arrived he couldn't remember exactly what was on it, he decided to take a look round the place before he went in the shops he needed. Sure it sounded like he was prolonging something he didn't want to do but despite the fact he was shopping he was in a new environment in a new country. Oliver was so happy when his parents gave him the day to do his shopping, granted he loved that they had tcome to New Zealand to see him off as he wouldn't want it any other way but given how his mum gets when she shops Obsidian Harbour was the last place he wanted her to be. This way he got to explore a little and shop at his own pace with his mother nattering in his ear the whole time. One thing he remember very clearly from the supply list was a pet. It didn't take him very long to choose, in fact once he had seen the options it was decided, he wanted a cat. A black cat, how very witchy of him.

Adriana was walking the streets as well, just deciding to take a seat on a bench. A day of shopping, no matter how much she liked it, was excruciating. She had just gone and bought herself a puffskien, whom was hopping all over her lap. Though the idea of a pet that didn't ask for much and just wanted to be cuddled all day seemed great, it was turning out not to be. It was a little too cuddly for the girl's taste. It was like no matter what she did, it wasn't satisfied enough. On top of that, her wrist was still a tad sore. At least her back was okay now. All Adriana wanted to do was go back to her home in Barcelona and see her grandmother, but no, she had to stay in the New Zealand house until school started. On that topic, it was a tad nerve-wracking to her to stay away from home for a whole year. She hadn't even made a good amount of friends to keep her company! But now the girl just sat, bored and watching the new pet and wondering what would come in the next year. From the way it was looking, it was going to be either very good, or very bad.

Oliver had grown tired of shopping, he had gotten almost everything he needed. Including a cat who had taken an instant liking to him to the point he was following him around the street. 'One less thing to carry' He thought as he disposed of the cage and allowed the cat to roam freely behind him as he wandered the street. He couldn't bare the thought of more shopping but he wasn't quite ready to return to his parents so he thought about sitting down, preferably alone but as luck would have it that didn't seem to be a possibility in Obsidian Harbour and he resorted to sitting on a bench next to a girl roughly his own age. He assumed she was attending Hogwarts too but he didn't engage her in conversation because that wasn't why he sat he just wanted to rest and see what would happen next. All the while his new cat Salem sat at his feet, tame as a highly trained house cat.

Well, at least now there was someone to share in the boredom. Adriana saw the cat and yet, didn't see its owner. She pet the feline, smiling softly from ear to ear. "Hey little guy-er... thing..." It was then that she noticed the pair of feet and looked up. "...Oh. Hello there." Adriana retracted her hand hesitantly, not wanting to upset the boy. After all no matter how close she got to people it seemed as if the smallest things could set them off. He didn't seem to be that sort of person, but really no person she met was what she expected. Even more he didn't seem too interested, or too happy.

Oliver smiled as he saw the girl pet Salem, he seemed to like her which wasn't a surprise as he seemed to tae to everyone. It wouldn't surprise Oliver if he started following her around instead of him. "He seems to like you," He said sitting on the bench beside her, "You don't mind do you?" He asked, even though he had already sat down it was best to be sure. Some people were really funny with their personal space and didn't like strangers sitting in general being near them.
