Returning

[Maddiie Holland]

Maddiie scan the school grounds as if were her first time here all over again. Her honey optics glance from tree too lake, lake to greenhouse, than towards the garden. It felt so weird to her, so strange the feeling of being back after so long of being away. She felt silent and awkward as she stood there for a couple of minutes, before she headed to the direction of the lake, were it had always been her place of peace, and all the great memory she had there, well except for that squid attack she smirks recalling the memory. It wasn’t the best thing to happen to her, but at least that day she had meet quite a few people.

Now sitting down against the hollow tree she sat with legs crossed underneath her. Her right hand gliding along the tip of the green grass as she takes in the fresh air of the autumn weather. It felt good to be stable again, traveling around half the country was just not for her. It was great to see new sights and all, but being back in school, she felt well at home after the past year events. She took in another deep breath, slowly as her honey optics close, now her head set upon the tree trying hard to block out the feelings that was trying to come out now….

Nina was walking along the Lakefront, hatred and anger for Alex consuming her, he hurt her, she didn't know what she would do now, she told him that she still had feelings for him, and what had he done? Kissed her back then told her that he never cared. It angered her so much. Sure she liked Noah..sort of, but Alex well he was different, he had been her best friend since first year, they hadn't fought since this past summer, at least nothing big, his brother had died, and she had been a jerk.

Nina felt tears form in her eyes as more sadness washed over her. She quickly wiped them away in case anyone was near her. Nina walked to the edge of the lake and she took her shoes and socks off carefully and sat on the edge, her toes gently grazing the water, causing ripples in the still water to arise. Nina closed her eyes being reminded of last year, was painful, and this was 'their spot' and it was almost sunset, she didn't want to see it because she knew it would remind her of him, but what didn't? This whole school screamed Alex and Nina to her.

Hearing sudden movements from nearby she didnt open her eyes right away. She had believed would have been a creature of some sort, but than the ripple of the water being touch, she slowly started to gaze around. Her optics set upon a girl just about her age, who she may have seen around. She decided a conversation with someone new or old?..wouldn't hurt. "Hello.." she spoke softly but loud enough for the girl to hear it.

Nina didn't open her eyes when she heard a voice, she wasn't all to sure if she was hearing things because she was lonely or the person was actually there so she finally responded in a dream-like voice, "Hello." She opened her hazel eyes, and she turned her head in the direction the voice was from, and she gently bowed her head to greet the girl then turned her head back towards the water.

Maddiie watched her turn her gaze back towards the lake. She had hoped their would be more interraction with the girl, but it seem that wouldn't be happening soon. So she sat their for a bit playing with the grass between her fingers as she softley starts singing a tune to herself. It was a muggel song she had learned while she was traveling ".Hey there Delilah.." she continue to sing "Oh it's what you do to me, What you do to me" her angelic voice softley soothing her own being.

Nina felt a little relieved the girl didn't start asking questions she felt she didn't want or need to answer about the Tournament last year. As the girl began to sing, Nina hummed along quietly with the girl, sure she knew the words and had a great voice, she just wasn't sure if she was up to share it with a perfect stranger, after all music was something personal, at least in her mind it was.

"Sorry.." she chuckles stopping as the girl notice herself sing. "I just love that song, it kind of mellow me down..." she said smiling tilting her head a bit at her. It really did sooth her soul a bit, as her glance went back towards the lake, she now biting the buttom of her plump lips. "I don't mean to ask, but what is your name, and I kind of recognize you from somewhere.." she asked without hesitating

Nina tilted her head back towards the girl as she spoke to her. Nina then responded with, "I'm Nina Patrokov, 5th Year Hufflepuff." She gave the girl a sheepish smile then responded to her earlier comment about the song, "Not a problem, music is pretty much my life." She looked back over to the lake then asked nicely, "What's your name?"

"Maddiie Hollawarth..." she trailed off, after hearing the other girls name and what years she was in. The only possible way she must have recognize the name was from the triwizard tournament. She had left right after the first task not even knowing who had won. "So did you win or lose?" Maddiie asked

 

[Nina Patrokov]

Nina sighed as the girl asked her if she won or lost then she mumbled, "It doesn't matter." She shrugged her shoulders regretfully then corrected herself, "I don't know, I was in a lot of pain, I just went to the Hospital tent." Nina shrugged her shoulders as she looked at her hand to see a small scar from the cornish pixies, crazy creatures they were.

"Oh" Maddiie looked down not knowing what to say. It really didn't matter to her either, since she had left so quickley without a word. "It's okay you don't have to explain.." she continue knwoing some do after they had spoken of the worst part of the event.

 

[Nina Patrokov]

Nina sighed once and said in an apologetic tone, "Sorry I don't mean to seem selfish about the whole thing with Headmistress Barker, I understand that that was awful for the wizarding community." Nina knew that she really didn't have to apologize but last year she was angry that she didn't have a chance to win the tournament, she was so angry she didn't pay much attention to the fact that the Headmistress at HNZ had been kidnapped. "I'm glad that she was found though," Nina added a little bit after.

 

[Maddiie Holland]

"Oh right I was informed of that by the daily prophet." how can she forget what had happen. She looked back down at the grass, as she rip some up from the ground twirling the bits. "I am glad they found her, I just didn't realize how long she was ah..missing." Maddiie stambere a bit

 

[Nina Patrokov]

Nina nodded her head once then said, "On another note, what house are you in?" Nina didn't really want to talk about this whole thing, it was saddening and she didn't need to think of anything worse, she was already upset, and confused with everything.

"Hufflepuff.." she looked up again smiling... "And very proud of it.." she flashed a grinned holding her head up high. "wha house might you be in...? You seem like a puff yourself but than again you look like a grffy." she snorted a bit att he sudden nickname she just gave those red head.

Nina beamed at Maddie then said, "I'm in Hufflepuff as well, what year are you in?" Nina smiled lightly to herself. She sighed once from boredom.

"Fifth year as well, althought I don't know how I got so far..." she trailed off thinking of past memories including one of her first boyfriend Grande, why was she thinking about him all of a sudden? It's been agese since he cross her mind the last time, maybe it was the familiar steiing tha was getting to her...

Nina flashed the girl a grin and agreed, "Oh I can understand that completely.." Nina put her index finger in her mouth and began to bite her nail, though not breaking the nail at all, just chewing on it anxiously as she thought to herself, she wasn't even all that sure as to why she seemed so nervous, she just was. She exhaled deeply then pulled her hair up into a high pony tail with her hands, and held it there, she didn't have an elastic or ribbon, and she was almost certain that she was just fiddling because she was bored. She pursed her lips as she tried to think of something interesting to do, Quidditch, no. Running, no. Swimming, goodness no, it's too cold for that... Her thoughts continued on with pathetic options on how to distract herself from who she knew her thoughts would eventually return to, Alex.

"Are you thinking of someone just by the way you are biting your fingers." the sun was still above their heads but soon will set in a few hours. Maddiie narrow her eyes looking up to see how far long will that be. After doing a few calculation she looked back down at Nina.."So who are you think about if I may ask" she tilts her head intresting to see who it was

Nina's lips dared to form a small frown for a second then back up into a small smile, though it didn't graze her eyes at all, this girl had pushed all option for denial, she was now thinking of Alex completely. "Alex Cullen," Nina eventually answered, she looked over the water as she let her messy, strawberry blond fall back onto her shoulders. After another moment of thoughtful silence Nina asked, "Who are you thinking about?" She was fairly intuitive and it was clear from the girls previous words that she was thinking of a boy, whether she was feeling about this boy the same way she was about Alex wasn't clear, then again Nina had very mixed emotions about him at the present moment. He hurt you how can you still like him? Nina thought critically.

"The blonde hufflepuff boy. I remember him a bit kind of odd.." she says recalling back the memory from last week. "I kept asking if he could help me with my homewrok, and he just said it looks alright to me.." she shrugged wondering why he kept saying that. Than stop silent when she asked her the same thing."Well I had a boyfriend sort of like two years ago..." she trailed off looking down at the gren grass

Nina shrugged, she decided it was best not to respond, after all the years of being his best friend she had never understood him completely. Nina listened to the girls words and she continued them for her as a question, "..And you still like him?" Nina didn't care all that much but the girl could distract her from her thoughts..maybe.

"I still do, I kind of miss him." she trailed off again hinting that he had left. She surley can recall that memory again, when he had sent her the owl. It was pretty lame the way he did it but the letter had made her cry that day. Until the next night, her eyes were all red she barley couldnt wake up. But hey what can you reallly do, just because you have your first heartace the world doesnt stop for you. It never does, so you might as well no do it too.

Nina nodded her head in understanding, he must have left the school. She sighed and wrapped her arms around her legs as she pulled them up to her chest and said, "I understand.. trust me." She sighed and said, "Alex and I broke up this past summer." She frowned then rested her head in her arms, feeling her warm breath on her small arms as she thought about all of this.

"Sorry to hear that." her left hand would move up to her hair as she lace her fingers through her hair. "It's always hard when its the first brake up, but you know eventually you do find someone." she said trying to convince herself as well. But Maddiie wasn't thinking about that anymore, if she did end up dating someone she hopped that it happen after her seventh year in hogwarts. She had come with the theory that if she dated someone in school espically if that person was a house mate, it would be akaward if things didn't work out. Always gotta think Negative huh Mads, the little voice in her head would ring out loud.
