Ares admittedly had a very good time at the Yule Ball with Jordie and Weston. He wasn't really sure what to expect there, but it was definitely a night to remember with all of the dancing that they did and even the gift that Jordie so graciously gave them. It was flattering that Jordie already considered him such a close friend, especially since it had been so hard for Ares to make friends in the past. It was a nice feeling to be appreciated and Ares couldn't be more thankful for where he was at that moment with people that truly liked him.

The three boys had parted in the direction of different common rooms as the night ceased, and with a big smile on his face, Ares began making his way back down to the dungeons towards his dormitory. He was stopped however as Jordie spoke to him again, however this time Weston was not with him. Jordie was alone and it made Ares a little nervous. He wanted to walk him back, and so Ares just shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, despite feeling like his stomach was about to explode from all of the butterflies. How was Jordie still so attractive even after a whole night of dancing? "The dungeons aren't too scary, but sure, we can walk together for a bit." Ares said, digging his hands into his pockets as he continued walking with Jordie by his side. "Is everything okay?"

Jordie had honestly enjoyed the Yule Ball. Spending time with his friends was always welcome. Though, during the course of the night, he'd caught himself lingering a bit longer next to Ares than he might have usually. He'd written it off during the event itself, but as he'd started walking back towards the dorms, he'd remembered his behavior and it made him wonder...

Deciding to act a little, Jordie hurried off after Ares, catching up with the other boy quickly. "Ares! Hey, wait up!" Jordie called, jogging up to the Slytherin with a bright smile. "I couldn't live with myself if I let you walk alone back to the dungeons," He winked playfully. Sticking his hands in his pockets, he started walking along with the other boy, laughing at his comment about the dungeons. He shook his head, offering Ares a cheeky grin. "Oh, sure, everythings cool. I just wanted to see you some more is all," Jordie explained with an easy shrug.

Ares couldn’t help the stupid smile on his face at Jordie’s words. A part of him still couldn’t help but wonder if Jordie was like this with everyone, but he just wanted to enjoy the moment now that he could and spend some time alone with the younger Hufflepuff before the end of the night. “I really enjoyed my night with you… and Weston.” Ares said, adding the last part in case it made him sound a little weird. It was true, and he liked Weston, but Jordie definitely made him feel a different type of way. “So yeah, thanks for letting me go with you guys.” Ares couldn't be more grateful for both of them. If it wasn't for them, he would definitely be locked away in his dormitory for most of his days at Hogwarts. "How did you and Weston become friends?" he asked, wondering if they had been best buddies since their first year.

Jordie smiled, walking a little closer than he had to. Ares was just a little taller than him, despite being older, so it was easy to peek up at him. "I'm glad you liked it, I had a great time with you too." He rubbed the back of his neck, not wanting to admit hanging out with Ares was really the main reason he'd been recovering so well from his break up. If they had met earlier on, Jordie just knew he would have been crushing hard on the older boy. He thought he might be feeling that way now, but... he was just hesitant. Ares was older, cool. He would never notice someone like Jordie.

"Oh, yeah, Wes and I met in first year, we were checking out the arts room at the same time. It was the start of a great friendship, and a great band," Jordie laughed. "Though we haven't been able to get anyone into our band but the two of us." Unthinkingly, Jordie reached out and tried to slip his hand into Ares', feeling comfortable around the older boy and wanting affection. "Did you meet Amelie on the team?" he asked. "It's kinda funny, we were pen pals before we found out that my brother was seeing her cousin,"

Ares couldn't help but blush at every compliment. He tried his best to just look straight ahead however, not wanting Jordie to see his cheeks turning a bright shade of pink. He didn't know what Jordie would say or how he would react, especially since they only just met not too long ago. However it felt like they had known each other for ages.

Ares listened as Jordie answered his question. It seemed like Jordie and Weston were just very good friends, and Ares was happy for this. It meant he could try to get a little closer to the boy without feeling too ashamed, not that Jordie would ever find someone like Ares attractive. "Well, don't come to me looking for someone to join your band. Best I can do is a triangle." Ares joked, hoping this didn't make Jordie think of him any differently. As he felt the soft touch of Jordie's hand, his first instinct was to pull away, shocked that Jordie would do such a thing. "S-Sorry." Ares stammered, before bringing his shaky hand back. He hoped Jordie wouldn't notice the sweat building up in his palm as he slowly took Jordie's hand in his own, intertwining their fingers. Did Jordie do this with all of his friends?

"Yeah, I know Amelie from the team. She's a really good player. Was the only person I ever really spoke to at Beauxbatons. The others there... they were a bit entitled to say the least. Even my siblings. Throw some middle classed kids into a fancy school and they think they're bigger than everyone else." Ares said, hoping he wasn't talking too much. He just wanted to distract himself from the pleasant feeling of Jordie's hand in his own. "You guys were pen pals? How did that happen?" Ares asked, wondering how people found someone pen pals in a very different country.

Jordie laughed lightly at Ares' comment. "Aw, but a triangle is just what we need!" He teased lightly. He was a little disappointed Ares wasn't interested in joining the band, he would have enjoyed the excuse to see the Slytherin around more often. His smile faltered when Ares pulled his hand away. Jordie hadn't even noticed he'd reached out. He bit his lip and started to pull his own hand back, disappointed.

But then Ares apologized gently and laced their fingers together. Jordies' breath caught. Automatically he shifted a little closer, rubbing his thumb gently over the older boys hand. He tried to listen as Ares spoke about Amelie, enjoying the warmth of Ares next to him. "I just wanted more friends," he replied softly. "It was just good luck I was matched with Amelie. It was fun when we found out Onyx and Jamie were a couple."

Jordie hesitated and peeked up at Ares, slowing down just a little. "Especially, um... Since she introduced me to you," he spoke softly, peeking up at Ares. Jordie could feel the light blush on his cheeks. It was a little bold of him... Was it too bold? Surely there was absolutely no way Ares would ever like him, not like that... Right?

Ares couldn't help but like being close to Jordie. He liked him, probably as more than a friend, but knew he should try and control his feelings. After all, there was no way Jordie thought of him any more than a friend and Ares didn't want to be let down. He just enjoyed the feeling of Jordie being right there as they held each others hand. "Onyx and Jamie? Is Onyx your brother? Who's Jamie?" Ares asked, willing to learn more about Jordie. He was a very interesting person and Ares itched to know more. He just hoped Jordie didn't find it to be too intruding. At Jordie's next words, Ares couldn't help but tense up a little, feeling his nerves get to him. He wasn't sure what to say. He swallowed before speaking softly. "Yeah, I'm glad I met you too." he told him truthfully. They were almost at the common room and so Ares slowed down a little too, not wanting this night to end so soon.

Jordie kept his hold on Ares, knowing how close they were to the common room now. "Jamie is Amelie's older cousin," He explained. "He's a professional Chaser in the French nationals, its what got Amelie into Quidditch," He bit his lip as they walked around the last corner to the common room. Jordie walked a few more steps before slowing down and stopping. "Oh... we're here," he blinked, not quite willing for the night to be over yet.

He hesitated, leaning into Ares a little. "I have safely escorted you back," He replied almost cheekily, peeking up at Ares. He meant to say something else, but he lost his train of thought. In all of Jordie's scooting closer, he hadn't realized just how much closer he'd gotten. Turning his face up had brought him much, much closer than he'd been prepared for. His heart stuttered in his chest and for a moment Jordie was stuck, caught in just staring at Ares.

Ares nodded as Jordie explained who Jamie was. He did remember now, but after everything that had happened, it really did slip his mind. As they made it to the common room, Ares couldn't help but feel a little sad knowing that they would have to part ways now. "Thanks for walking me." Ares said, unable to come up with anything else to make him stay longer. As Jordie stared at him with his big brown eyes, Ares felt his heart skip a beat as he melted into them. Their faces were so close, but all Ares could do was stand there, too scared to do or say anything in case it would ruin the moment and the friendship that they had.

This... was definitely a moment. Possibly the sweetest moment Jordie had ever had. Unable to resist, he turned, pushing up on tiptoe and pressing a soft kiss to Ares' lips. They were soft, and warm, and Jordie couldn't help but slip his hands up Ares' shoulders. He lingered a moment, wanting Ares to kiss him back. Jordie wasn't sure what he was doing, really, he had spent so long telling himself that Ares would never notice him. But in the moment, all he could think of was how right this felt, of how warm Ares was and how desperately Jordie hoped the other boy would just hold him.

As Jordie leaned in to kiss him, Ares still was unable to move, his feet planted on the ground as their lips collided. They were soft and the teen couldn't help the adrenaline that overcome him. He kissed him deeper, his hand coming up to the boy's face and holding his cheek, just making the most of the moment. He couldn't believe Jordie was kissing him. He never thought for a moment that this would ever happen. It was like a dream. Ares pulled away slowly. "Well, it's getting late. Don't want anyone to think you're missing." he said, knowing Jordie had friends in his dorm who were waiting for him. "I'll see you tomorrow." With that, Ares smiled at him and stepped into the common room.

Of all the things that could have happened, Jordie did not expect Ares to deepen that kiss. He melted against the older boy, savoring the hand on his cheek. Jordie just stopped working, caught up in kissing Ares. By the time his mind had stuttered back to life, Ares had said goodnight and was stepping back into the common room. "G-goodnight," Jordie managed breathlessly. He stood there for too long, unsure how to make his legs work, before finally managing somehow to start the long trip back to the fourth floor.
