Closed Reconnecting

It had been bothering Jonah for a few days now. He wondered if his siblings were getting bothered by it too. There was a first year Gryffindor that had the name Taylor. Now, normally, that wouldn't be weird. The weirdest part, and Jonah would tell you that it was absolutely weird, was that the girl looked scarily like a younger version of his mother. Like if his mother was a little over thirty years younger, he was sure that they could pass as twins level of scary. Now he hadn't really asked his siblings what they thought, he didn't really want to. And he'd seen how confused his dad was at the Sorting Ceremony, like he was trying to figure something out but couldn't quite grab the answer. Now Jonah would have wondered if his parents had somehow misplaced a sibling of his except the girl didn't seem to have one bit of his dad's features. Surely she would look even a bit Japanese if dad was the dad. And well, the girl was supposed to be the same age as Lewis so it wasn't like his mum could have been pregnant with this girl right? Right? Right? And so when he crossed paths with the girl for the first time since the Sorting Ceremony, Jonah hadn't really been able to help the question that had been haunting him. "C-could you be my long-lost sister?" He really did regret it as soon as it came out of his mouth as evidenced by the raging blush on his face.​

Taylor blinked. Hard.

“What?”

The wasn’t the kind of thing she was expecting the boy to say to her when he’d walked up to her just now. Truthfully, she hadn’t been sure what he was going to say to her at all. He almost looked like he was going to pass out from sheer embarrassment and now she was a little hesitant to say anything to him because she didn’t want him to pass out - but would he pass out just from her mentioning that no actually she wasn’t his long lost sister - which was a bit of a weird thing to ask someone out of the blue anyway, right? She was a bit confused over the whole thing honestly, especially since she didn’t know who this was at all. “Uh…” she looked him over, trying to work out why he might be asking her that.

It took a moment, but something clicked as she kept looking at him, “ohhhhhhh,” she said slowly, her eyes widening in realisation. This must be one of the cousins her dad was telling her about. Clearly no one told her cousins though - ouch. “Um, no I’m not your sister. My name is Taylor,” she said smiling at him slightly as if that was going to make everything clear to him.​
