It was a seemingly beautiful day at Hogwarts, one that would stay in Laura's mind forever. It felt that way at least. Today was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing a tune, a tune of pure freedom. It made Laura feel free; it made her feel like she belonged in the world she was in. A magical world. One full of mystery and wonder. One where everything and anything could happen. It amazed her, her world was so perfect and she admired everything about it. She had a feeling that nothing could ruin her feeling of sheer contempt. As she continued to walk past the beautiful, rippling water that filled the lake, Laura knew that in this moment, she never wanted to change a thing. She thought everything was perfect and she never wanted to leave. She enjoyed the peaceful aura the lake had. She liked how it was calm but had an air about it that made her want to stay away in fear impending doom would be at hand. Smirking to herself in a subtle but obvious manor, Laura paused quickly, she needed a quick moment to get herself together. A moment to capture her thoughts and the flawless scenery around her. Closing her bright eyes and breathing out, Laura heard a rustle in the bushes behind her. It wasn't a loud noise, yet it wasn't quiet either. It was a curious noise. Laura wanted to know more. She took a peek around her shoulder, seeing nothing, Laura put her mind and body back into the world around her, the one where she felt most at home. Hearing a noise like that wasn't unusual for her, she ignored it in the classiest fashion she could conjure, a fashion that she could wear without flaw.
A quiet place to sit and get back to her studies in a vicinity that differed from the one of the school library, Laura opened an eye, and then another eye to search for a comfortable and silent place to continue her studies. Exams were coming up soon and she wanted to do well, despite her everlasting daydreaming during class. Being in a world more imaginative instead of serious was a secret escape for her, one she wouldn't dare tell anybody about, even her sister. The surroundings at the lake were faultless, untouched by pollution that was slowly taking over the Muggle world. The Wizarding world was just too perfect to be disturbed. Or at least too protected. Laura spotted a large tree, one away from the shimmering water that would keep her books safe in case of the slight chance she could get splashed. It was in shadows, it seemed perfect, she could keep out of sight but still be in view, a compromising position, one that was just the thing for what Laura planned to do. The light could be a problem, Yet Laura was prepared, her wand was in her bag along with her books. Studying for exams was important, she wanted to succeed and since she hadn't payed much attention in class, hitting the books was what she needed to do. A hint of excitement crossed her face as she started to stroll towards the tree. It was a casual stroll, Laura wanted to keep everything casual that day. She was wearing her denim shorts, converse sneakers and a white tank top, one would say it was the perfect outfit for stepping out. Laura liked how she felt that day, a feeling she would grow to get used to, a feeling of optimism.
Approaching the tree, Laura threw her bag on the soil that surrounded it and sat down, leaning against the vast trunk. She felt the slightly chilling air brush softly against her pale face, it was pleasant, she enjoyed how the breeze felt on her warm skin. It was a hot day and sitting under a tree in the shadows feeling the misty morning air suited her mood immaculately. She didn't want this feeling to end, yet she needed to get on with her studying. Instead of feeling like an interesting task, it now felt like a chore. Laura just wanted to enjoy what was around her, she wanted to make the most of this beautiful morning before it turned into an orange sunset and then, turned into night. Laura didn't dislike the night, she enjoyed it very much. She just didn't want this wonderful moment to end. Letting out a ever exasperated sigh, Laura reached out to fetch her bag, taking out a book that looked like it was about defence against the dark arts. Laura opened it and started to read quietly to herself, there would be many mornings like this in the castle, she would experience many more and Laura knew it was the best thing to focus on exams, it was her future in her hands after all.
