The Capello family goes back decades if not centuries and used to be one of the more dangerous wizarding families of Italy until the First World War when they sided with the Central Powers, providing them with arms and ammunition. With most of its members being either muggleborn or half-blood, it was rather easy for the family to continue to exist.

After being branded traitors by both muggle and wizarding communities in Italy, the family moved away from their birthplace in Italy in the late 20s and 30s to start a new life in the United States of America, dealing in the illicit liquor trade during the Prohibition era. They did well for themselves until they were forced to move into other smaller territory by a rival family in the mid-30s. From that point on the family had to fight to continue to stay relevant in the organised crime world, and so moved into gambling and loan-sharking before dabbling in restaurants and nightclubs. Winning back some lost territory, all seemed good in the world until the American government passed Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO for short, in the 1970s. With most of its family members locked up behind bars, the Capello family once again struggled. During this rebuilding period, Joseph Capello moved with his family back to Italy where they could once again start a new life, this time in Verona where they laid low, helping with security and such to make some money - this lead to the family eventually starting their security business.

Often clashing with their rival family, the Mariani's, the first father tried to poison the head of the Mariani family after insulting his honour in front of a large audience. Afterwards, the two families rivalled with each other for decades, taking away property, cutting off the supply lines or even killing one another. In an attempt to create peace between the two families a marriage was arranged between the current Don, Philip Capello, and Chiara Mariani. This idea was put in motion after both families noticed the affection Philip and Chiara shared for each other - this proved fruitful as the two families have been at peace ever since. Nowadays the Capello family runs a respectable security company named Capello Security Services which provides security for events such as weddings, sports matches and parties for the wizarding communities of Chicago, New Zealand and Italy. This is, however, not their only source of income. They also own a wizarding sports betting business which also operates in America and New Zealand and Italy. While most of the bets made through this company are legal, the family also handles match-fixing which without a doubt brings in the most money. Luckily the family is well-connected enough to keep the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at bay.
